Yeah, it's been a good amount of months for me now, and I am definitely still happy with the purchase! I've also changed around my configuration a few times and eventually gone back to the conventional 3-up 2 down...
I'm a saxophonist but love drums. That kit, in that finish, is my 2nd kit, after playing a Ludwig starter-kit for 2 or 3 years. At that point my ears told me I needed birch. With Cobham as my role-model I went with Tama and Sabian. All hardware, including a double pedal, and motorcycle-seat throne, is Gibralter. The cymbals and hi-hat are HHX, with a couple of AAX mixed in. The primary snare is a chrome Ludwig Supraphonic. Remo pinstripes sound great on the kit, but I'm trying black Aquarian right now...but may switch back. The kit is fully mic'd, and needless to say, it sounds great, especially through headphones.
beautiful drums.i've played a set of the new superstar classics, and they sound pretty good. great value for the money. love to hear these. thanks for the video. well done.
I ordered same kit/color. I did want tangerine but it was 2 months out. And yes I have a 8 inch beard nothing like yours lol. Gray at that! I know jack doo about drumming but like your banners in background and was down w testament in the day. Good post man.
Why didn’t you ever show another video of this kit assembled? I just ordered the exact same kit & color from guitar center. The Mahogany Burst is very hard to find! I had to custom order my kit and it’ll be delivered tomorrow. It sure would be nice to see your kit fully assembled! What cymbals are you using?
So are you still playing these? And how are they holding up? I ask because I am 2 months into a set of the lacebark pine 7 piece kit. Just curious if you have any issues?
I’m pretty sure you having a good time playing this kit. Excellent sounding kit! I have the same kit in dark indigo burst! Check my UA-cam if you’re interested in seeing my setup.
I am debating getting these drums. They seem very good for the price as well and I have heard good things about Tama. My style is classic death metal, tech death, and prog like Tool. Very well put together video man. helped a ton!
Hey Caleb, very cool, so did you go ahead and grab these or something similar? Or did you go in a different direction? It's now been a good amount of months for me and I am still very happy and going strong with em.
Tom Casper I ended up getting a Mapex V series kit from a good friend as an upgrade. Cleaning them up and setting them up and whatnot. Eventually though I do believe I am going to get this Tama kit. Really like the wood and craftsmanship on them as well as the amount of toms on the 7 piece.
I got the same 7 piece set in Midnight Gold. Had to pay a extra C note for that finish, don't know why. They are beautiful and sound amazing! I also ordered new heads and never hit or put a mark on the TAMA heads. I play Remo pin stripe batters on top and Evans hydraulic on the bottom for resonate on the bottom. I know they are batter heads. Just love the deep dark sound and the way they don't ring forever. Always have done that. A Drum Dial is a amazing tool, if you don't have one. I highly recommend getting one. Your drums and your ears will thank you. That is a beautiful set my man. Almost got that color. Just liked the other one better.
Wow, I didn't realize this video would pick up steam like this, gotten a lot of questions. Will be putting out some videos playing it soon, thanks!
I've played these drums at guitar center and I was blown away by the tone and resonance, great drums for the money for sure.

12:00...I had one of those Rockstar kits too, lol.
Go Giants!!!!
ooo maple drums. good stuff :)
What do you suggest 20 "or 22" bass drums for the superstar?
Depends on what you play, if you play rock or metal I would suggest the 22. Jazz, the 20… but it really just boils down to what you like.
How do you feel about the thin ness of the drums I'm looking to buy a set of the indigo burst 7 piece
you look like a cool guy to hang with
A year and a half later, how do you like them?
I need a follow up!! Haha
Nice colours so cool
did yours come with floor tom legs?
Yep
