- A little present for myself. After years of playing vintage Ludwigs as well as my little Sonor Safari kit - I went with these maple shell Tama drums. I'm impressed! More samples to come.
Just had my 1983 TAMA Royalstar kit refinished !
Just bought exactly this kit. Damn I'm looking forward to it arriving!!
You will never find a better kit for your money.
@@simmsdn Right?? I heard it with better heads - Evans G2's I think - and it improved the sound a lot. And I'm going to swap the front bass drum front head for a black one - looks cooler I think.
@@funland108 I'm currently using Aquarian all around. Regulator front, Super Kick 2 batter, Performance 2 in Tom batters, Classic Clear Tom resonant. I tried G2s and did not like them at all.
David Simms I’ll have to do some experiments. Sticking with stock heads initially. Remo were always my go to in the 80’s.
I just bought mine also I can’t wait til mine arrives .
David nice to meet you in this video and that you're taking out those those beautiful color of girls, they're a beautiful color I like the color yes I like the wood inside I'll keep seeing your video okay thank you
Great demo! Thanks.
Thank you very much this video has helped me to buy this drum
Mmgamboa has been a great day for me and my family for a
Thanks for video. I like unboxing the drums
congrats! TAMA brother!
Hi me too thank you I am going to get one of these kit like the video convince me like the color too and the was packed .
Your going to love this kit.Ive had my Superstar Classic for a little over a year. I also changed the stock heads immediately.22" superkick 2, Evans G2 clear batters for 8",10",12",14"&16" Tom's.Evans genera dry on the snare.Cherry laquer is beautiful.Mine are wrapped.Enjoy🤘
I actually bought these over getting Starclassics or another set of Ludwig Classics. I could not justify spending that much money on a drum that doesn't sound better, look better, or play better than these. They're fantastic and I spent a couple of months coming to the decision to get them.
I went with the Remo Pinstripes for my heads
I just switched from Evans G2's to remo pinstripes.Luv the attack, but control focus
@@drummerboy0620 that’s what I’m going to get for mine pinstripes are the best .
Mines showing up tomorrow. Swear this was a video of me because I have the same rack setup 😂
David again the the thing is that you're right make sure you don't have no scratches and now you have to return it back but that's where they put all that stuff in there those papers for protection you know of your new drums you're lucky you're lucky to have those those drums of time I wish I did very expensive change right or wrong
David again yes we don't have no problem with that maybe somebody else has a problem that I don't have no problem I agree with you you're taking on the worst out of my mind I agree with you David yes I like what you're saying David two thumbs up what you said
David yeah you're right it has a smooth smooth and that wood I'm saying because I I touch those I put my hand and threat, and the wood is fantastic real smooth you're absolutely I agree with you 100%. There's a difference from other drums and but the water is different it feels better and I like the word from time
Sweetwater too? Gotta love that place!
First time ever really buying anything more than an obscure drum head from them. Really good customer service experience.
Mmgamboa brookelambert
I bought the starclassic phantasm oyster…. Absolutely LOVE these drums.
Hi, I really like your video, I'm 16 and I've been drumming for 2 years now and wanting to upgrade to a new set, do you think I should try to save up for this kit and the hardware or save up for a 5 piece kit from tama that includes hardware?
To me, whatever allows to you buy top of the line cymbals. You can make a lower line drum sound good, you can't alter a cymbal.
Nice kit, beautiful finish. I have a Superstar Classic as well. Just wondering; using the drum dial for tuning, what are your settings?
*my kit = 20, 16, 14, 12 & 5.5×14.
I used the drum dial initially with toms on around 75-78. I didn't like that. I haven't put the drum dial on it since I changed heads, my guess would be right around 72-73 on reso, maybe 73-74 on batters.
Thanks. There must be a significant difference between a drum dial and Tama's tension watch. I know if I cranked mine that high, they would be way too high. I use my tension watch in noisy environments, to keep my tuning and sound consistent.
I love my SSC set, best drums for the money, hands down.
Completely agree. These replaced my late-70s Ludwig Classics (6-ply maple). I think they're more consistent, better edges, and the shells just sound better. I've though about a Tension Watch vice the Drum Dial. I haven't been impressed with Drum Dial. I think it's a bit inconsistent. I might just stick with how I used to do it - my ears. My ears tend to be a lot better than the Drum Dial - but some folks swear by it.
Good choice. Now hopefully you have what is I'm sure a 10 piece drum set by now! :) Give yourself some bloody room, Crank it to 11 and Fucking Rock On! - (doesn't sound bad at all does it? Best time to be a drummer is right now!! Quality + sound + price! ) "Life without drums would be a mistake".
This kit is so cheap in the usa. it's under 1000k i think, but in australia it's like 2500. I actually calculated that it's technically cheaper to import it from the USA, then to buy it here in australia.
I really want this kit since it's a 7 piece. I'm just waiting to buy a house so I can finally play an acoustic and not the electric
You can find it in the states right at $1000. I think I paid $1049. Every once in a while you can find some finishes for $949 in the 7 piece.
@@shamicentertainment1262 I'm sad for bros in Oz. You pay too much for everything. I'm a Skateboarder and I ship stuff there. It is a beautiful place to live tho so that's the compromise. I'm in Canada and we pay a small premium too but not nearly as bad.
@@musicalala man I'd much rather live in Canada for the scenery haha. I watch camping videos of people up there all the time. It is nice here though, but yeah everything's expensive.
@@shamicentertainment1262 I guess both countries have positives. We pay for post secondary education and meds. I think it's amazing that you don't there. I don't know much about housing in Australia but it's obscenely expensive where I am in Vancouver area. Many are moving away from here. Australia is scenic too.
Congrats, You had better luck than me. I ordered the same kit and when it arrived the shell Bottoms of the snare and 9x12 tom are damaged.
Sorry to hear that! Bad shipping company handling.
Did you change heads to get rid of that ring and echo on your snare/Tom’s? Also , what is the hardware you’re using for your cymbals
I ultimately went with Aquarian Super 2 and Classic Clear on toms. Aquarian Hi-Velocity on snare. The ring you hear in this is actually a sympathetic ring from an adjacent drum being hit...that took some time to figure out. I have to be careful with tuning so that it doesn't happen.
Cymbal hardware here is all Gibraltar.
Great video! I just purchased a Tama Superstar Classic in Tangerine Lacquer Burst. If I may ask...what is the sheet music stand that you have attached to the left side of your rack? Brand, model, etc...? Thanks!

It's worth every penny. I also use a Rhythm Tech clamp mount percussion tray that I keep metronome, drum key, in ears, etc on.
Shit man! We're basically neighbors lol
Now you need cases….
What batter heads are you using again?
Currently Aquarian Focus-X Coated. This video was Aquarian Studio-X w/dot clear.

J'attends mon set as tu changé les peaux ?
Several times. Currently in Remo Emperor Clear top, Remo Ambassador clear bottom. Bass Drum is a Tama Starclassic front head and a Remo Ambassador SMT. Snares now have Remo Emperor X.
Google Translate: Plusieurs fois. Actuellement en haut Remo Emperor Clear, en bas Remo Ambassador Clear. Bass Drum est une tête avant Tama Starclassic et un Remo Ambassador SMT. Les caisses claires ont désormais Remo Emperor X.

Lol
Aquarian? Seriously?
They're that not bad. Depends on your preference. I'd get Evans or Aquarian personally.
