Marcel is a legend. and he made this movie ha he owned bruce's ass " Or perhaps It's all propaganda, how about that? " HA! seriously hes amazing and i dont think they could have gotten anyone else to do a better job
Marcel Iureș was quite simply sublime in Hart's War (as he is in all his films)!!! Of course the characters he plays are also very well written. The fact that Oberst Vissel is a nazi is completely irrelevant for the character to be interesting, yet alone dangerous. Visser is so deep, so complex that you got more questions about his background than anybody else's. The characterizations of and the casting for these roles are all really good, but Iureș' Werner Visser outshines the rest.
2:09 - What bothers me most in this scene, is that Oberst Visser is using the 1939 EK2 ribbon (button hole), despite the fact that he's a WW1 veteran, recipient of the 1914 EK1. The evidence for the latter is that he received the 1939 EK1 'Spange' (the little eagle above the EK1 in his left pocket). The costume people never seem to get the decorations right.
@TheHeardHouse You can say that again! AMEN!!! I've been out for 5 years (Iraq 2003-2005), and it's STILL hard for me to get a descent job. Tried everything, even the V.A, and guess what, nothing. I get treated like crap, no respect, and my skills, discipline and enthusiasm's not valued. They'd rather give the job to a civilian who just happens to know someone in the place. I feel DISGUSTED & ASHAMED to have served. And YES, RACISM is also a part of it as well. It STILL reigns supreme in the U.S
Really? Why? I always thought that ex service men are highly respected and admired for their discipline? And employers value that. Can't you find work as a cop? Please I'd like to know more about your experience.. Unless you're black then you just have to have a dark skin for not getting a job.
O-6 is the NATO rank of Officer grade 6 or Colonel they're both Colonel's in their respected armies and as such have a great deal of respect towards one another
"come in. have a seat. have a drink." so began a conversation between 2 well respected colonels. my only complaint is the audio was terrible.
This scene is a masterpiece.
harts war was a marcel lures masterpiece, as usual. all he has to do is raise an eyebrow or make a gesture &&& it speaks volumes.
When I fall off the wagon I watch this
BEST scene between 2 high respected Colonels....... Nice discussion not like these silly days !!!!

@EmperorDragosh Not to mention assembling the P-38.
Good scene. Civilians don't understand the respect these men had for each other. They were both 0-6, thats why Bruce didn't shoot him.
love marcel
