There's a private pond here where I live in NC that's about a 20 minute drive from town. Back about 30-35 years ago, it was full of pan-sized bream, bass that were not uncommon to be over 2 lbs along with some serious lunkers, and some catfish and carp here and there. Unfortunately, over the years that I didn't go out there it "turned over" and it's hard to catch much of anything other than some smaller panfish and bass. However, there is a monster, and I MEAN MONSTER carp that is at least 20 lbs and probably 3 feet long who lives in the pond now. The owner forbids you to fish for him as he was apparently raised and fed by his father. I did get back out there about 2 years ago to see it and took a video where it's sitting about 3 feet from the shore with it's back and tail sticking out of the water. I stomped my foot and there was an enormous swirl where he took off.

It's crazy what some Nebraska puddles can hide... great spot
