Well, I didn't want to say this but I gotta. Richard was fishing right behind my house in this video, and Elmo pulled up in my driveway and asked "Is that Richard back there fishing?" I told him was. He said "that's bad luck, I gotta head down to the breakfast sausage sale down the road" and he took off.

I love this channel.
My bother-in-law and I have fished 1-2 miles upriver from that spot and have caught scores of smallmouth. The largest was close to 5lbs. We caught several 3's. We mostly went in the summer. We didn't have hellgrammites back then; I wish we had.
Here in Harrisburg Pennsylvania on the Susquehanna... Those hellgrammites crawl all over the steps down by the river and some of them things are like 4 inches long Richard I'm not kidding you, and don't go picking one up with your fingers you need like hemostats or something😂😂😂, those things are no joke! Nasty nasty nasty!!! And great tips on rigging that up!
How’s the smallmouth fishing been over the past week or so on the river? Last time I was out there the water level was still really high.
Still pretty high but coming down and looking pretty! I live over in Hershey now so I don't fish the river much but I'm pretty sure it's doing good!
Caught my first few small mouth today!!! Two 16in keepers, one was real fat. Was using a Strike King 1/16oz green pumpkin swim jig with a 6th Sense Juggle Minnow 4k Bluegill plastic.
Nothing like getting motivated from watching Richard literally wading around in his {Gene} pool….(y’all get it?…yeh, y’all got it)😅
And say Master Jedi Richard, aint nothing like that there Adrela-Gin is it?!….Because it gets a fella Lit-Up naturally, and it can’t be found in any adult beverage package stores!!😆😆😆✊🏾👍🏾😉
Thanx I'm going to try the nail weight for sure! I have been fishing the Z-Man TRD with a #1 Gamakatsu ewg hook and a vmc 1/32 nail weight for a long time, but have not been successful getting the nail weight into the Nikko Hellgrammite. I actually bought the Yum hellgrammites to try with a nail weight, but after seeing your video I will try to burn a hole into the Nikko! Appreciate you....FishOn...jimi
There is a river called white river over by west plains Missouri and that river is loaded with rock bass i went out one day and caughg probably 15 of them in probably 30 minutes on worms and a float and even on the bottom they are awesome to catch great video richard thank you so much man god bles you and yours

I use Nikko, and HD tackle from bass pro, 5 inch green pumpkin on a 3/8 ounce jighead. They'll get em!! Ain't nothing like smallmouthing!!! Those are some trophy size fish!!

I've caught a few big rock bass outa the du page river in Illinois. I don't know how they get that big in that "ditch" , but they do.

Best bait in the world for putting out set hooks in South Carolina rivers for catfish. We would turn over rocks or grab them in moss near an old damn in SC. We also caught "spring" lizards and placed in an old tube sock and off to the river to "set" hooks. Always put about 25 hooks out and came back to camp and warmed up a chicken stew and ate before going and checking hooks after supper. Brings back a lot of memories. Good times.

Once years ago I was wading doing this. There was some brush along the shore. All of a sudden hundreds of smallmouth came rushing out bumping my legs. I almost crapped my waders😂
Another superior video. By far the biggest Redeye i have ever seen, including the thousands we caught in Ontario during the 80's.

I had about a dozen of hellgrammites left over about 10 year ago and I lived on the waters edge of Boone lake at the time so I made a 4 hook limb line and placed 3 or 4 on each hook with about a 200lb un waxed bank line and when I retrieved it the day i had catfish over 4ft long on it and it started off a with a death role and snapped that bank line. I hope someone landed that fish after that to get the wow factor of the size line hanging in it's jaw. Thank you Richard Gene for all your time.

We used to get in shallow current streams, and stir the bottom up, and someone else would be downstream with a screen , and catch them live helgramites, dang you could slay lots of them basses

When I was a kid fishing the Buffalo man if you dug up a live helgramite while catching crawdads it was the best thing the world. If you caught it you got to use it.

Ya ever fish with live hellgramites, they catch smallmouths like crazy, but don’t let them bite you. They have pincers for eating and will bite you and make you bleed. OUCH😮

I wish my basspro carried any kind of Hellgrammite. That $5 walmart ozark trail trout fishing kit has a few small one inch Hellgrammites in it that are awesome on a small jig head.

If u want a tool for easy inserting rattles or weight into stretchy plastics. It's called a "rattle snaker" they got with zman and also made a zman official rattle snaker. They work great. Quick and easy.

Nikko leads the way in hellgrammites. Everyone is trying to copy them, but nothing beats a Nikko hellgrammite.
I like that heated tip. Thanks. I'll take old screws or rusty nails and cut them down for nail weights and never bought anymore nail weights. I'd rather have nails in my tackle instead of my tires
