    Your supercondensed reviews are always well organised and helpful. Never played this but wondering about it and was grateful for your thoughts. Thanks

    Game is available on kickstarter here. www.kickstarter.com/projects/shem/circadians-first-light
    Disclaimer, I know the designer Sam personally, but that didn't stop me from having a few negatives to say about the game. It's still a very solid dice placement engine builder I recommend checking out and making up your own mind about though.

    There is so much useful information fitted in these 3 minutes: core mechanics, what you might like, what you might dislike.
    The only extra information that would be nice is something like BGG rating and "best experience with X players" information.
    Btw, great work, keep up!

    I’ve purchased two Garphill point salad, relatively heavy euro games in the past 4 months: Circadians and Paladins of the West Kingdom. I don’t know why but I enjoy the puzzle in Paladins more. Also, and this surprised me because I actually was super attracted to the box art for Circadians, I think I like the art for Paladins more and that might have something to do with it. I’m not sure though. Another thought I was having was that I like the card markets that gets refreshed every round in Paladins, whereas Circadians feels a little more static from round to round. But overall I still recommend Circadians to anyone who is looking for a good solo, heavy Euro game, it’s a well designed game for sure, and I know the second edition that is looming comes with updated artwork.

    This video got me very interested. A quick look at another review and I'm a backer! This is two games you have started me on path to buying (Bloc by Bloc 2nd Edition has already been ordered). I know people say three minutes isn't enough, but it is long enough to filter out games that probably won't work for me and get me interested in some games I might otherwise have never found.

    • @3MBG
      @3MBG  6 років тому +2

      To those people I say "3 minutes should be enough to tell you if you want to dig deeper, or if the game is totally not for you". I always recommend if people are still keen after watching one of my vids, to look at a longer playthrough, read the rules, and think about it.
      I feel like the channel can be peoples first step to a evaluate a game, but not necessarily the only step.

    So if Roll for the Galaxy has been gathering dust because my current play groups don't grok and I typically win by an obscene amount of points, I should give this a pass?

    • @3MBG
      @3MBG  6 років тому +2

      Ha, yeah, probably. Although the hard to grok thing in roll for some people is knowing what to pick from the bag when you get 5 or so options. Circadians, things are a bit more "in front of you". But chances are, you will also crush them mercilessly at this as well

    What’s the point of hiding your actions behind the board? Also is the player interaction basically who’s filling out the locals’ slots first? And then maybe adapting your strategy to deal with that?

    • @3MBG
      @3MBG  6 років тому +1

      If you don't fill your actions out behind the screen, you would never get a turn started :)
      Say you are setup and I'm just watching you. I can see if you are going to go to the labs because of doubles, so i can place a double earlier to block you out. I can also See if you are using your farms, and how many actions you can take. I then adapt. You see i've gone for a double now, so reassign things. Now, instead of going for a lab, i reassign. You can see where I am going with this.
      The screens stop this, and make it so that phase of the game is done quickly and fairly.
      As for player interaction, its like most worker placement like Euro's. Spot denial, timing your turn, and taking places other people want to use. It's not a high interaction game, its more like an Agricola in that regard.

    Looks like Euphoria meets First Martians as a 3X (as opposed to 4X - no eXterminate) game

    • @3MBG
      @3MBG  6 років тому +1

      Ha, its funny you mention that. After being taught the game i loaned Euphoria to Sam.
      It's closer to Monster Lands or Oaxaca than First martians though.
