Game is available on kickstarter here. www.kickstarter.com/projects/shem/circadians-first-light Disclaimer, I know the designer Sam personally, but that didn't stop me from having a few negatives to say about the game. It's still a very solid dice placement engine builder I recommend checking out and making up your own mind about though.
The solo game in Architects of the Western Kingdom was quite good. Not unbeatable, but not a guaranteed cakewalk. Do you think that using the AI as an extra player in a 2/3 player game could be good?
I think better than Architects. Due to the game having a bit more depth in the engine building you can do. However, if you liked the Architects solo mode, you'll probably dig this as it uses a very similar AI structure.
I'm a little confused by the two statements, one at the beginning that says you have to beat your solo AI opponent in 8 rounds, but at the end you say that solo players who don't like beat your own score even with an AI opponent may not like this. That doesn't sound like beat your own score. Does this mean the opponent is easy to defeat?
@@3MBG one can argue, that one's greatest enemy is within ourselves - the ego that tempt us to do things, stupidly, or not do things in cowardice, which with cognition and comprehension we may intuit that we may have done things a little better, if only we had that one moment to think clearly, for a cooler head to think with. It's the lesson of the third Star Wars movie, where the Emperor was delighted of what Luke was becoming when his "emotions" was getting the better of him, yet when Luke had thst one moment of clarity, he overcomes his "emotions" and let his "feelings" ring true. Whereby, at that one moment, he proved to not only Darth Vader and the Emporor that he conquered their influence, but he also showed that he overcame his own inner "dark side" by having the freewill to choose. Hence, eventhough we may see each other as opponents, whereby today we hurt each other for thinking the wrong things, what we do not notice or consciously do not attend to is the petulant ego within our inner selves that makes us do things that we do not truly want. It may not be relevant here, where we compete with ourselves in order to score higher points, but what is solo-mode anyways if it is not about exceling into something - whether it be baking that perfect baguette, drawing art, painting miniatures, making review videos, or understanding nature through taking photographs, we can only improve ourselves by striving a little bit more each day.
The people behind Everdell got in touch with me, and will be sending along a copy of the game with the pearlbrook expansion when that comes out. So you should see that game around that time.

Ah! There's the review for Circadians. Love this game. :)
That's the solo one, there's also a multiplayer one.

Its still points generation and not a "clearly beating your opponent" sort of game.

Can you do Everdell next? If you can find a copy, that is!
