- Trying out a new name as was suggested by one of my viewers, we'll see how this pans out.
This is an interesting little game and one I played alot of back in the day. Rented it almost constantly from a small game rental place not far from home. Never did manage to find it for sale though.
Either way, its a sort of Sim city in space deal, sort of along the same lines as Alpha Centauri, though being for the SNES it is alot more simple. We are trying to keep the colonists happy, which isn't too easy, and at the same time, deal with an alien inhabitation that is always hostile, and nearby. It can get kind of difficult as time goes on! Not sure how long I will play this, we will see!
This is actually one of my favorite SNES game. Build a hospital by January 3rd, then security, then power station ASAP. Before February ends, change birth rate on hospital to high so you'll have more colonists. Then build flux pods and labs. Also I strongly advise building laser turrets every 5 squares. It costs power but you'll be pretty safe from attacks. With this you can also build solar panels/generators along the outside perimeter with the laser turrets. Trust me, even the lucratians can't stop you once you do so. And do NOT donate to spy grant until you can put in at least 70,000 credits. You'll get better info.
Why rush security when you can rush workshop/mine to trade for money boost? Also haven't played this game in like 15 years so yah lol.
I have ended several screens with 100% population support, but not all. one of the best snes games
@@Operations1000 other wise crime breaks out quick and the funds get stolen
I only watched to listen to the music..
:D the cannon ftw
+trancelistic Utopia has some pretty nice music.
Me too, Many years ago I talked to the guy who created it on Aol messenger and told him how great I thought it was. He's a really nice guy.
I rented this game a lot from Blockbuster as well. One day it was up for sale, I snatched it up quickly. I still have it today. Loved this game, glad I found this LP.
Great vid! Got a thumbs up for me :) I used to LOVE this game back when I was a kid. The music still rings in my head from time to time. I remember it took me weeks of failing until i finally figured out what the hell O2 was and how to get it lol.
Willow Martin If Utopia had anything, it was some pretty sweet music.
It was a good, if terribly confusing game.
+Bormac Yes, also one of the few SNES games with multiple gameplay (and one critical) bugs. Disappearing but "still there" tanks, massive playfield building corruption after long enough and unknown trigger conditions, very poor UI controls on certain things, tons of things lacking polish that would really improve the experience.
That said, I love this damn game. It also could use the SNES mouse, and this is how I prefer to play it on emulator...
I still play this game. Bash through the missions at least once a year on Dos Box via my PC. The sort of game you young folk haven't got time to figure out any more. One of my fav games of all time. Nice to see you trying to work it out though. One thing I would say is the Amiga version is what I played, and seems a better version, but I may just be biased of course.
+J Monkey "You young folk"? Heh, I've been around awhile myself, sir.
Anyway the Amiga WAS probably better than this, it was a stronger system than the SNES so it could support more stuff.
One would hope anyway.
I used to rent it myself.. I wish I had "lost" it at one point so I could have paid for a replacement..only physical copy I've ever seen. It's a neat little game.
Glad you enjoyed it. Just a shame I had so many issues in recording.
Awesome game, I always build a full screen, with guns on the corners, and solar panels on the outside, and leave a 2 square space all around it for tanks to roll past. Always loved sending the entire 100 tanks off in one go with a load of space ships.
Ahaha I love it, the runaway logo looks suspiciously like the Sega CD boot screen animation
I did just like you back in the day on I rented this game at blockbuster. I fell in love with it instantly and kept renting it because I couldn't find it in the store.
Like many of you, I rented and played the crap out of this game. I remember stressing out during the week until the weekend when i could rent it again thinking some one would ruin my save. But not many kids were into this game so it was good. My main problem with the game was the poor path finding skills of the tanks. I also wished I could see an alien city instead of just hearing about it via spy reports.
Would be nice if you could just win a planet instead of having the aliens rebuild after a bit every time. No matter what. That bugs me. : } But yes, this was a fun game.
Would be neat if they remade it I think. But I doubt they'd get it right.
this brings back memorys - besides secret of mana my favourite game on my SNES console. I think the box should also be somewhere stuffed away - as far as i can remember my mum ordered it from a second hand gamestore because i was desperately looking for it for ages - probably the best present ever :)
Still have my SNES and this game. Used to play it all the time in Jr High.
This was the game that strengthen my love for Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.
Utopia is a pretty neat game. People seem to really want me to play it again. Maybe I will when I have time.. just its the sort of game that does not end..so tough to really "play through" it.
I tried playing this game a long while back and never really got very far. Also, this music really reminds me of the music from Might and Might 3.
I really wish when I rented this game I had "Lost" it and paid the restocking fee.
I really enjoy it.
@Soulcatcher30 It is a very nice logo. Pesky thing is always running away though!
@BygPhattyPlus The game is a bit hard to get the hang of..it isn't all that intuitive. The manual helps alot I think but even then. Still I'm pretty fond of it!
Music in the level he is playing would eventually become my favorite classical song. It is Pachelbel's Canon in D Minor. Really wonderful tune often played at weddings:)
Hm, I had to google who that was. I might have heard his stuff at some point but I don't really follow comedians too closely. Hope I didn't copy anyone!
I remember playing this on SNES, it was ok, but I really hated how restricted the view was, it could be a pain in the neck finding a specific building in a town of any great size. Never did get why you'd make a game where half the screen wasn't used for anything.
+Karagianis Probably strictly limitations of the hardware. It was a pretty complex game for the SNES.
Heheh. Haven't gotten one of those comments yet. : }
I never really finished this one, not that you CAN finish it, since the game doesn't have an ending, so to speak. But yeah, my only experience with this game was renting it as well, very fun game.
Several worlds can be finished with 100% population support. I have done it.
Your bound to hear comedians lines at one place or another..people tell jokes, quote them, or you just catch a bit of a show channel surfing ot looking around on youtube. It happens sometimes.
lol we do miss that logo
I LOVED THIS GAME !
f* yeah caps lock !
I played the crap out of this this game. It should be remade or re imagined or recombobulated, or whatever they call it these days.
How could you, if you don't know him!
I agree.
It could be pretty fun. But they'd probably bastardize it like they do with most things they remake these days, heheh.
You're a Louis CK fan, aren't you? -()>|
Oh god ! SHUT UPPPP!!!! :D naah, just kidding
Yikes playing it on ZSNES... /facepalm.
Chris Anderson Whatever. : >
runs fine.
