OH Miss Lori................ If you only knew how I feel about FRIED APPLE PIES !!!!!! I am 73 years old And I can tell you..... My sweet Mom ( A TRUE SOUTHERN Lady) like me, born and raised in Kingsport Tennessee.... she on a farm. My sweet memories of coming home from school, walking up the driveway, and SMELLING those fried pies !!!! She always used dried apples. Oh ..... what a flavor !! God love my Mom, who fed an army of all of us including my Dad. I can make them, but, of course NOT AS GOOD as Moms ! Oh what a memory that is !! 💕
Please tell Mr. Brown that I was forgetful after I had Covid and it has cleared up a lot. At first I was really worried but then I read that "brain fog" was a symptom. Tell that sweet man not to worry. It WILL get better, I promise. In my case, I had brain fog when my Father passed away and I had to plan a funeral, empty his house, sell his house and move to Virginia all by myself. It was very difficult. Some people took advantage of me financially because I couldn't think clearly but I got through it. Love you both.
You and your husband are the best I love all your videos I live in France when I feel homesick I watch your show go in the kitchen and cook and it makes me feel so much better so thank you connie born in Kentucky,
❤😊you are so sweet just wanted to say thank you again for sharing your wonderful recipes and your wonderful family and faith in the lord Mister brown is a blessed man
I loved watching the grandkids!! That’s the way kids should be. Miss Lori, those pies look so good!!! Right now it’s 3 minutes til 1 in the morning, and I have got to get to bed, but, tomorrow I think I’m making some fry pies!! YES, YES, YES!!! Thank you so much for this recipe. God bless you and Mr. Brown!!
My friend also got the foggy brain from covid. The foggy brain will get better it just take awhile. Praying for Mr. Brown's full recovery. Thank you for a great video.
Mrs Lori, your video quality is on point. I love watching and catching up with you on Sunday's. You're such a calming soul. You and Mr Brown are such a blessing, could listen to you both for hours. I feel like I am visiting with my favorite aunty when ever I watch. I said before I am a quiet follower but I really want to try and tell people more just how much they're appreciate both online and off. Many blessings sent from Nova Scotia. ❤
Absolutely perfect, I could not have said it any better myself. Mrs. Lori & Mr. Brown have the most perfect channel. Thank you from Pataskala Ohio with love. Can't wait to buy your book Lori. Blessings to you both
A town nearby me in NC has a pumpkin festival every year...the church ladies make pumpkin and sweet potato jacks to sell. I've made the sweet potato ones. Yummy!
I’ve heard many folks complain of the COVID brain fog. I have a coworker who had it in December and she still feels really tired and forgetful. Hopefully these lasting symptoms will finally go away. Sadly we just don’t know about the long term trouble this virus brings us. Prayers up for Mr. Brown.
Those precious grandkids are having a wonderful upbringing there around you all, the holler, and the old ways. Such fun and great memories for them and for you all!
Thank you so much for sharing those shortcut ideas, the tortilla pressis brilliant! Love the kids at the end, it's so nice to see them outside having fun instead of inside glued to some device.
What a great trip to use the tortilla press for the pies. I have terrible back cramps due to my chronic disease and rolling things can set it off but the press would not do that..I love your tips. Keeping Me Brown in my prayers. And you too.
I’m in my late 50s and I have fond memories of my mom and grandmother doing all kinds of things together. Sewing, canning, etc. And, of course, fried pies. My mom passed away almost three years ago, now all I have are the memories and my recipe box.
I didn't know your hubby had Corona. God bless you both so much. These little pies looked so good and as usual you have a way of calming me with just the way you are. Much love n many blessings to you both.
My grandmother, Pauline Swicegood (I called her Momine) was famous for her hand pies. Especially the mincemeat. But her apple pies were very nice too! They were fried pies we just called them something different in NC in the 1960s.
My aunt, God bless her soul, made her fried apple pies for years. She lived in NC. When I would visit, she would make some for me. She passed a couple of years ago and I never got her recipe. 😩 thank you for this. Wish there was a love button.
LOL❣️ Those kids are having a ball!!! Mr Brown, you just hang in there good sir. I believe things will straighten out. Hope that pond is sealing up even though it’s taking it’s sweet time. Ms Lori I have some dried apples that are calling my name now. Your pies look scrumptious, thanks for the recipe❣️God bless you both 🥰
I love delicious fried pies, but never had much success making them. So, after watching you, I am inspired and will have to try again. Thank you. I love ALL your videos
Miss Lori, I want to thank you for the card and little surprise you sent me. It truely made my day. You would think Ed Macmahon had sent me a card. lol I love your videos, your sweet spirit. I totally feel we are kindred spirits. I love your recipe here.

Your starter look so nice and I know it’s going to make you and Mr Brown some really great and wonderful bread doughs (recipes). I tried starting one years and years ago (a couple of starters) neither of them lived so I just said forget it but yours look very well and lively. Thanks for another awesome recipe. We love fried pies here in Arkansas…
those two things mr brown got when under covid is exactly what happened to my family when we got it. we slept alot too. maybe cause we felt bad from the symptoms but we just wanted to sleep.
Shalom Mrs. Lori, in New Mexico we call them empanadas. I make mine using apricot and prune. Seniors love my prune empanadas. Thank you. G-d bless us all...
Ms. Lori, you have the nicest gadgets. I find myself hunting for all your stonewares and antique bowls nowadays. Now these gadgets too. I can watch you over and over. I haven't tried canning apples like you did but the apples sure looks crispy alright. The apples in Texas are so expensive. I will definitely make this fried pies. I hope I have enough will-power to just eat three. Thanks for another recipe. I just printed this one too.
When my mom made pies, she would make extra pie crust dough & make sugar pies. She would roll out small circles of dough, about the size of your fried pies. She would put a dollop of butter, sugar & a few drops of vanilla. She’d crimp the edges & bake them, along side the pies. We loved those. They were a special treat. I don’t remember her ever making fried pies. Blessings, Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇺🇸👍❤️🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
What a great idea of using a tortilla press instead of rolling it all out! Thanks! I have those crimp things to make hand pies or with the smallest one, make ravioli or what ever you want. They are so handy.
I wish I lived by you...I’d just come sit a spell in your kitchen just to listen to your stories and methods. I love all your various dishes, cast irons and odd items I’ve never seen before!
My MawMaw always made fried pies, but never fruit ones. Always chocolate, coconut cream and lemon. She would make all of her cooked pudding and let them cool, then make her pies. She always rolled out her dough and used a saucer turned upside down and cut around it. She would mix a thin powdered sugar and water glaze to drizzle on top while they were still hot. Thank you for sharing your recipe as well as the short cuts.
My favorite pie is a fried apple pie using dried apples. My mom used to make them all the time but I never paid attention to how she did it. I would love to try to make them now. If you ever feel like making dried apple pies, I would welcome the tutorial! Love to watch your channel it reminds me of home. I was raised in middle TN near Cookeville. My friend Brenda is your twin. Lol. God Bless you both. Praying for a full recovery for Mr. Brown.
I remember traveling in our RV to a park up in Arkansas and on the side of this road, in the middle of nowhere but on the way to the park, was a home with a little wooden store front. There was a big sign that read; "Fresh fried pies Saturday Morning". Well we made sure to be there Saturday morning to get ourselves quite a few fried pies. 😆
I love fried pies especially coconut, peach and chocolate. Gonna try your pie crust recipe, if it comes out good, I'm afraid I'll be making them forever because my son will be constantly wanting them, lol. Prayers for Mr. Brown to continue to heal completely. ❤❤
Oh Lori, you’re such a good cook. I love the grandkids coming down the drive. Such great memories y’all are making. Praying for Mr. Brown. Some people really are having different things happen since they had Covid. My God put His healing hand on Mr. Brown.🙏
My grandmother used to make fried pies! Peach, apple, blackberries, she made them all! I was her "helper" .Hope Mr. Brown starts feeling better soon! They say it takes a while to recover. Best wishes to you both!
After watching your other fried pie video, I ordered the molds. They work great. A trick I learned was, after rolling my dough out, the bottom of the mold cuts the perfect size dough. I also like using the tortilla press. You are an inspiration and I've never had one of your recipes fail.
My Mom made dried apple pie’s .my Dad wanted them the size of his hand, he loved them. He said if she made them smaller they wouldn’t fill up his hollow tooth. Lol. She made meat pie’s to. I bet your grand babies will help you make these pie’s, God bless. Love ya

Just as we are craving pie... and funny you mention apple Pie filling. I’ve canned my pie filling for years, this year I won’t be. I’m just going to can the fruit without the gel filling, that way I can use my fruit for more than just pies! Hope your fish dinner was good last night!! 💓🥧
Love the recipe miss lori my nanny used to make these when we were kids brings back great memory's thank you love to see your grandkids having fun God bless x
I had Covid in November and I was really really sick. I too, after these last few months am having bad memory problems. I have yellow post it notes all over my desk just to try and remember things that I've done every day from memory. I just get flustered and can't remember those things. I'm only 44 and those at work who have never had it, just don't understand. I hope he starts feeling back to himself soon .
This lovely video brought back memories. My dear husband so loved fried pies, and I loved making them for him. His favorite was made with dried apples. It's a joy to watch you cooking because you're at home and at peace in your kitchen, and you love what you do. I use my hands to mix dough, too, and I just like the feel of it. Your fried pies look so yummy, I wish you lived close to me for many reasons! You are so sweet and easy spirited, Mr. Brown too, praying for him. I have never had fried pies but might have to make some..I love pie!

One of my hubby's favorites! I'll be making us some soon! Thanks Ms. Lori and God Bless you all!! Also loved watching the Grandkids at the end. I know they were sure having fun! Such joy!
I like your crust! Very thin! Some make them thick and when you fry them they are heavy and dough full of grease. Yummy! God bless you and Mr. Brown!!♥️🙋♀️
Mrs. Lore those sure looked good to me, I will have to try that one day and share them with my older sister. Thank you so much for sharing. God Bless you and Mr. Brown.
I can't wait to do the Amish friendship starter but right now most of my time is at work. Those fried pies look delicious. Hospital food doesn't compare to yours😉 Thanks for sharing. Love to you and Mr Brown xx
The very first video I ever watched of yours was when you canned those apples. I think for Jar it up January. When I used to help my grandma put up apples and pears that’s how she did it. I knew I had to subscribe to your channel. You cook food I grew up on. That is pure genius to use a tortilla press. I have one collecting dust and I may need to get it out and make some for the family. Those pie crimper things are cool.

I’m gonna do this with my 5 year old grand daughter...she loves to cook..bake...garden and even helps me CAN. GOD BLESS HUGS
These pies will be a real treat. Thank you for the recipe. 🙋♀️💘
Your show makes me happy.
Thank you miss lori, I just love all you from scratch cooking !!💕🙏 A cookbook by you would be a best seller .
Oh I remember my grandma making fried pies mostly during peach canning season., yum!
