He's so right saying that Metallica is on a much larger level. Metallica has always been the best out of Big 4, truly best. Everybody knows that, not everybody acknowledges, but it's so damn true.
damn straight pal. Long live metallica! I'm just trying to get into the other "big 4" right now it's just metallica and the smaller thrash bands like exodus, testament and overkill
***** go to the world, ask anybody who doesn't like metal or music at all, they won't know who the hell is Slayer or Anthrax, but when you say "Metallica" they will say that they heard this name before. That's all.

+Joseph The Pwner of Metallica Fagboys Metallica is shit, there just not what they used to be. they can make a badass come back but that's all up to them.
Death Magnetic is a good album. It is not great but is good one. You can't say 'all nightmare long' or 'Judas kiss' are bad songs. The album has other decent songs as well.
I'll be 40 next month, couldn't agree more man. Metallica live was and is on a different level. Seen all 3 bass players too. Seen Cliff when Metallica opened for Ozzy. Seen Metallica 15 times. This other dude clearly hasn't seen Metallica in their prime.
A speedi(er) recovery to Jeff Hanneman! We look forward to seeing you back to making the tunes and playing with the band that you helped to make so great, Jeff cheers
True... slayer's one of few heavy acts I've gone to see where the dudes in the pit are old enough to be my dad. Most guys just don't hang onto the passion ya know? I'm amazed they still play the way they do honestly.
The main songwriter of their finest moments/albums was Jeff. RIP. Anymore questions? That being said, I think it's great that they toured with none other than Exodus' LEGENDARY Gary Holt. Slayer!!
all hate on metallica... genres are nothing but boxes that bands that can't reach another creative level stay in and make up a clever phrase like sell out to call artists that grow with no boundaries... whats wrong with liking different music and including it in their songs
At Yankee Stadium, Megadeth also had to sell their setlist short due to Dave's injury. They usually get an even longer play time than Slayer does. Yankee was the exception. Endgame happened in 2009. It's sold far more copies than both of Slayer's releases combined the past 10 years. What does that say? Megadeth appeals to a much wider audience, gets more radio play, and has a larger fan base. Playing after someone live doesn't always mean they're bigger.
its cool kerry is at peace today & is being mutual bout talking met & music..thats a sign of serenity with-in...kerry talking peaceful is fucking really cool...good shitttt!!!!wdsta1
i know what you mean. im 49 and sadly, i feel out of place around all the young metalheads. ive been a slayer fan since i was 19. ( 1983 ) i`ll love slayer and metal till the day i die.
You cant have Slayer without Tom and Kerry. They are the 2 necessities. Sure, Slayer would be way better with both Jeff and Dave but without Tom And Kerry, there is no slayer at all
Sure, Kerry is the spotlight but Jeff wrote most of their music. Not saying they're doomed because of his passing, but to me, Jeff really was the heart of the band.
joshAKAtheman Slayer is fine without Lombardo when they have Bostaph, now while I agree with Tom, Jeff is honestly the better member of Slayer over Kerry, Jeff's guitar skills and especially his song writing are both superior to Kerry's. While they are nearly perfect together, I would take Jeff over Kerry any day. The only reason Kerry is in the spotlight is he actually does interviews and stuff, Jeff never liked to and turned them down 95% of the time. Hence Kings Popularity.
joshAKAtheman And despite Jeff's demise I wouldnt say they are doomed, in my honest opinion Repentless wasnt half bad, sure it had some inferior song writing to earlier Slayer albums (lack of jeff) but it was still a pretty damn fine record. And repentless noticably had its own sound, so they arent endlessly rehashing their material, each slayer album has a very noticeable, unique sound to it.
Slayer was Slayer before when Paul played drums and slayer was slayer while Gary took the stage in Jeff's place over the last few years.. Hanneman was my favourite member in Slayer, always was and always will be and it sucks that he had to depart. That doesn't mean the band should break up, He wouldn't want that. As far as is goes with Dave, he isn't the only drummer Slayer has ever had. Bostaph kicked ass in Slayer, Just like he is today. Slayer will live on, as will our memories of Jeff.
Slayer plays after Megadeth not because they're bigger, but BECAUSE of the crowd reaction. In 2004, they were named "Best Live Band". That gives them enough credibility to play over bigger bands like Megadeth. It doesn't mean they're bigger. Megadeth has had a MUCH higher live attendance worldwide. If you look at their stats. Megadeth's largest audience ever at a solo concert of theirs was over 150'000 people in Argentina!!! Slayer has never gotten anywhere NEAR that.
And finally, hoping you read all 3 of my comments, if you want to see a better live reaction to Megadeth than to Slayer, just look at The Big 4 Live in Sofia. During Symphony, for example, the entire sea of people were jumping up and down, singing along with the band. During Raining Blood, there were several enormous mosh pits going nuts, but the people in the back weren't really doing much at all in comparison. The reactions are always different. Most of the time, Megadeth gets the bigger hype.
I'm talking strictly today, not 10-20 years ago. Those sales figures are ancient history. Slayer played after Megadeth at all Big Four shows. At the Yankee Stadium show, the response to Megadeth was lukewarm at best, while everyone went bat shit for Slayer. Slayer also headlined when they toured together in '10. That's no accident. I *LOVE* both bands & have seen both repeatedly over the last 7-8 years, & Slayer has higher attendance & more enthusiastic crowds. No reason to hurl insults.
I love these guys they are so nice but their music is my favorite. I like allot of other metal but Its that if I would be stuck on an island thing with nothing else slayer all the way baby.
"what was it about Anthrax, Metallica, Slayer, that kept you guys going?" she asks. WHERE THE FUCK IS MEGADETH IN THAT QUESTION?! Didn't wanna mention them to King? Just because Megadeth is bigger than Slayer doesn't mean King gives a shit. No point in leaving them out.
I think Jeff Hanneman is done with Slayer,I've seen some recent interviews with Kerry King of 2013/March & he wasn't saying to many kind things about Jeff. But Gary Holt has been doing an incredible job for Slayer! & the few shows that Pat O'Brian of Cannibal Corpse did.But I truly think Jeff Hanneman is done with Slayer.
Album sales-wise, no question Megadeth has historically done better. They also record albums far more frequently than Slayer does. My opinion is based on crowd size, audience reaction, and who headlines when they tour together. Part of the problem is that Megadeth's lineup is always in flux, while Slayer (at least until recently) has had the same three guys playing out front for their entire history. That consistency helps. But now Slayer is a mess with Lombardo and Hanneman MIA.
It can be argued that Pantera's Cowboys From Hell "started that bandwagon". At least to me, it seems like a precursor to the effort in making heavy music more palatable.
Whoa...I wasn't talking about Kerry. Look at the statement I was replying to. I was replying to Dario Losso's comment about Kerry being the one who should have died. I was saying that the troll who calls himself Dario Losso should be the one who should have died.
@hMIKESCHj you can ge that shirt on Metal Mulisha's website, or any supercross store that sells metal mulisha apparell. I have that shirt and its one awesome shirt.
What is your issue? If you don't like metallica, I've nothing against that, but please refrain from making up bullshit. Dave only shares writing credits on half of kill em all (also learn the difference between having written something and co-written something, as only jump in the fire and mechanix are written mainly by Mustaine). On lightning its only a riff in ride the lightning. and a progression in ktulu. + Master and justice are also two of metals best albums.
Sad to know Jeff was still alive when this interview happened.

I would say Kings leads were usually better and more memorable esp live and he had the more cutting tone where Jeff had more of a neck pickup sound.
