You are getting the most out of this hike! You are keeping your eyes on the prize but having so much fun along the way! Do I see, by the way you signed the chalkboard, that you are working 9Lives into a logo? Excellent 😁

4:55 "I'm itching to get back on trail..I'm tired of being in town."
Looks like the transformation has occurred. The trail has won your heart and you'd rather be there than anywhere else. Sure, who doesn't miss the luxuries of town or home... a shower, a toilet that flushes, tap water, "real food" and a comfortable bed? But for many of us, somewhere between Springer and Katahdin, we realize that even when our body is not on the trail, our heart is, and there it will forever be. 9 lives, long after your trek is over, there will be days at home when a cool breeze catches your attention and suddenly your mind is carried back to the AT and that day on some mountain top when you felt that same breeze. Then you realize that there is where you really want to be.. because your heart is still there, where there is freedom and the ever present company of nature. Tony Bennett sings; "I Left My Heart in San Francisco." I'm predicting you'll be singing: "I Left My Heart on the AT."
No better description of this transformation exists than this one from former thru-hiker David Brill in his matchless book, "As Far as the Eye Can See."
"I believe I have finally found my niche, and it's here in the woods. I thrive here. I relax here. I feel so right here. And, I've begun to realize that I have become a resident of the wilderness: I no longer leave society to visit the woods. Rather, I leave the woods to visit society. When I'm in town, I feel uprooted and often suffer pangs of separation. When I'm in town, I constantly wonder what natural displays I'm missing, and it's also sometimes difficult to sleep, because the air seems stale and all the familiar night sounds are muted by walls and windows."
David Brill, August 17, 1979, Little Rock Pond Lean-To, Vermont.

Hey Kelly! What a view to wake up to! I’m glad you didn’t chance your video equipment on the float. Love that town! Huge thanks to that outfitter for supporting all the hikers! “That’s some rabbit food there” 😂 I thought it looked awesome! You guys just exploded all over that room! I can’t even imagine the smell! Good idea to slack pack in the high heat, but starting a 20 mile day at 1pm is nuts! I’m glad you are timing things to be able to grab your tag. You have earned it! Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow’s miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well. #giveashit

Others have said it , but again you demonstrate that thu hiking doesn't have to be on long slog. I think you are inspiring others by showing how much fun it can be to take advantage of all the trail offers besides just hiking ... Fun to see how horse shoes brought out your athlete competitive spirit ...Lord bless 🙏

Hey Trooper I was flag girl out West before you were ever born . One reason they paid excellent money literally worked 14-hour days. The only way to stay cool that bandana you have on your head start out with ice cold h20 then more water every so often. Put one around your neck and do the same. You can also do 1 on each wrist. On your inner wrist there's a Mark that will cool you down immediately. I forget what the spot is called. It's not much. BUT it really does help with that high humidity and just the 🔥 in general!

    Horseshoe Scoring
Any shoe must be within one horseshoe-width (measured across the outside of the open end of the shoe) of the stake to be considered for points. (Official rules call for 6 inches max).
The closest shoe to the stake gets 1 point.
If you have two shoes closer than any of your opponent's, you get 2 points.
Ringers are worth 3 points each and must completely encircle the stake so the ends can be touched with a straight-edge without touching the stake.
If you have the closest shoe and a ringer, it's 4 points.
If your opponent throws a ringer on top of yours, they cancel and no points are scored.
Leaners are worth 1 point and are considered closer than any adjacent shoe except ringers.

The hostel in Front Royal drives slack packers north 20 trail miles. They leave most of their gear at the hostel. They then walk south back to Front Royal and stay a second night. The next morning the hostel owner drives them back up north where they had started walking south the day before but this time they continue their hike north. Hope that makes sense on how it's done ?

@S M I did, 'judging by the photo', since the actual vid is a vid, I fail to see what else I was referring to, it's not me with the attitude my friend, you're the one that seems to be out of your tree over something that was a joke and has no relevance to the world today.
I didn't call it thumbnail, simply because I didn't know that's what it was called, not being a UA-camr.
Of course a simpler solution would be simply not to get involved. Since my comment was aimed at the vid uploader.

@@renzoids Look, we all say things that we probably shouldn't have in our lives. It doesn't make you a bad person, but just learn from it. Its just not appropriate to ask someone that question, followed by criticizing the way they look. Everyone that is attempting this thru hike is trying to accomplish something extremely difficult. Be the person that motivates and supports them.

    • @christinaward6651

@@renzoids It’s actually not a simple question. It is ignorant and misogynistic. What makes you think you have a right to comment on someone’s body? Her body is strong and capable, and she is pushing it to do something most people will never dream of attempting. She is literally thru hiking the Appalachian Trail! Of course she is tired and drained sometimes. Also, I’m not sure if you actually watch her videos, but half the time she is dancing or running down the trail. Pretty sure she’s doing just fine.
