WE WON | Mustang Eventing - First Event of 2020 (Dressage | Stadium | Cross Country)

- Today Lynx and I got back on the XC course! It's been awhile (September to be exact...). We were a little rusty everywhere, but we rode well enough to place 1st in a division of 10 :) Next time I'll do a voice over on what I would change in my tests/courses... like I said, a lot of polishing up to do, but I was so happy with Lynx's attitude today. He always tries so hard with everything I ask of him. It was a little unfair of me to not show him a cross country jump in 6-7 months LOL so he was a little wiggly, but I can't complain!
Lynx is a 6-year-old BLM mustang I adopted through the Youth Extreme Mustang Makeover... to learn more about the mustang programs OR all the products I mentioned in this video, check out these links:

loved that casual flex when you got Lynx to lay down infront of them, what a baller move.
Yeah! Next time do the jump course bridleless!! 🤩
Really like to watch the view from the rider perspective....I watch a lady who goes on "hacks" in the beautiful English countryside so am accustomed to seeing this....feels like I am riding myself.....thoroughly enjoy how you connect with Lynx and those watching caught it....thank you for sharing!
I’m hoping to use my GoPro a little more often 😊
You’re a true credit to the breed Sam. And you’re an inspiration to others in the U.S. who have the opportunity to adopt a mustang and learn how to tame the breed using a gentle, sensitive and understanding approach. Just like Elisa Wallace you are always a pleasure to watch 🖤
What a great encouragement for folks to adopt a Mustang! This video is very interesting! Thanks,
Laural
Thank you! ❤️
Well done to you and Lynx, and what a wonderful ambassador for the Mustang you are. You both did so well to come first. Thank you so much for posting and the Go-Pro was a bonus for us.
Great job Sam. Love all the funny comments “don’t think I know your counter cantering”. Lol.
Glad you found the cam so we could ride with you! Congrats, Lynx did fantastic!
Thank you! 😊
I'm glad to see you won, it looks like you worked really hard and deserve it.
That course looked really long, and I didn't know until the end that the show was not just for mustangs!
What a fun galloping course! Love how you talk to him on the course.
Congrats to you both! Lynx is a real gem. Looking forward to seeing you guys collect more ribbons this year.
You’re a very brave and capable young lady to be doing all of this on your own - I don’t see anyone with you - loved him in the coloured coats 🐴💕
Wow....you never cease to amaze me young lady with your accomplishments. I love being able to watch your Cross Country on your Gro-Pro camera. Good job! Thank you for sharing your videos with us! Congratulations on first place.
Congrats! You and Lynx did great! So fun to watch you talk with those other riders at the end
Wow, that was just a wonderful! Thanks so much! Sam, you work so hard, have such drive and yet keep it all together. You are officially amazing! Loved everything about this Video!
Thanks for bringing us along on the cross country. Loved it! What a brave little boy he is. You are such a great hand and it’s a pleasure to watch you guys challenge yourselves.
Congratulations! Your beautiful attitude with the other riders and the course attendants, along with your confident / no stress approach to the day really shines through! You made it a fun-filled laid-back learning day for Lynx and, wow, all the work you two have done together is so beautiful to watch in action! Thanks for taking us along on the journey.
Thank you!
Lynx is soooo beautiful! ♥️ Great job!
Ooh loved the party trick at the end!! Awesome xx that was a great day out for any horse let alone one that was wild 3 yrs ago!! 🤗
You’re such a badass Sam! You and Lynx have an amazing connection. Great job! You are a natural at what you do.
Thank you!
I love how you talk to him! So sweet and rewarding ❤️💙💜👍🥰
You are really something, you are going to go very far in the equestrian world!
Thank you so much!
You are such an inspiration. You inspire me sooooo much! I love your vids.
Enjoy your energy while it lasts! You're amazing!
Congratulations! Love going on the cross country ride with you. I was trying to steer!!!!! LOL
Congratulations, Sam and Lynx! That was fun to watch. Thx for sharing.
I love the questions ladies ask you. :) The thing I appreciated most was your calm attitude about everything. Nothining was a big deal, you're just hanging with your buddy.
Awesome! I love your layed back approach! Very comfortable for the horses!!
Sam, that was a thrill. Loved the GoPro cross country footage. Congratulations to you both, and thanks for sharing with us.
LOVE THE NEW INTRO!! Super cute love your logo btw! And Lynx is so pretty! ❤️🐴💜 Can’t wait to watch the title seems exciting! Sorry I’m late 😰🐴👍 You’re so pretty and love your hair when it’s wavy and adore the earrings! I have that same leadrope! But let’s just say it was trashed so I upgraded!
Thank you! I figured an updated intro was needed 😊 haha my leadrope is half way to trashed!
Sam VanFleet Ofc np!❤️😊💜👍💛
Congrats! Nice job👏Thanks for taking us along today, I was fun😉
Congratulations to you Sam, you have a big heart and Linx, what a stamp of a horse, gorgeous horse. You both looked wonderful out there ripping and running.
Nice course ride and what a brave horse for something New to him! Good job!
Love the new introduction, very nicely done! ❤️❤️
Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you!
I love how you are so relaxed at your shows! I myself am very nervous and the way you just go with the flow is a trait that you should be proud of ❤️
Congratulations. Link and you looked great. He will only get be with time. Link is a beautiful mustang and I can tell y’all have a special done.
Way ta go Sam! Lynx is so great! Hat's off to you, I don't know how you memorize the course and jumps.🤷😘👍🇺🇸
I struggle more with dressage tests than jumping courses surprisingly 🤣
Love the video on the cross country! Such a beautiful horse, too. Congratulations on a well deserved win!
Wish I was half as brave and positive at that age. Oh the places I would have gone.
Smile.
Congratulations on your achievement, and of course, your horse's.
LOVELOVELOVE!!! Congratulations!!! 🎉🍾 y’all killed it out there!!! 🖤🖤🖤🖤
He did really well! You could tell he was stressy, but pushing boundaries is always good to learn. I'm excited to see more of these ;)
Congratulations! You both did wonderfully! 😍
OMG I have the same panda blanket!!! I love it so much and people think it’s childish but I don’t care. So cute
Nice job both of you. Still amazing for me to think he was wild just a few years ago. Also thank you for revealing his crime fighter alter ego @ 13:25, Bat Horse. Thanks for what you do.
Lynx is a very handsome horse! You are an excellent rider!
Thank you!
What a good boy he is. A horse of a lifetime.
Kinda teary eyed right now... just subscribed. I’ve been afraid to ride since I was your age and had an accident 30 years ago. I had a Mustang with the temperament of Rue...long story short, there were other horses and I lost my confidence and never rode again. I’m missing it...
Try again!!! Try riding a senior horse I have 3 they are super calm and wouldn’t hurt a fly!!!
Way to go talking up the mustangs, Sam!💜
I don’t even know you but I’m so proud of Lynx he did so good🥺🥺
That was amazing, he did really great, it looked so good ❤️❤️
Good job! Love your material.
Great job, what a great horse!♥️
Nice new intro! Way to go to you and Lynx!
your commentary during CC was hilarious

No....you were right the first time"....you could tell he thought he looked terrible....hahahaha
Excellent . Well done !
You are so good with horses I am so happy for you
Love your videos! Keep it up!
Sure were a lot of gopher holes outside the course, hope none to step into. What a great team you make. Congrats!
Congratulations
Loves this Sam, you and linxs made it look easy! Reminded me of Elisa Wallace video. Are you going for the Olympics to?
Elisa Wallace is amazing 😍 not quite at her level yet though 🤣
Nope. My goal is probably Novice. I have other things I’m focusing on, that’s just a piece of the puzzle 😊
Luv these vids
I think your really brave going many miles on your own in that big lorry and to shows alone, at 20 aswell, I am 31 and would be nervous 😅💖
love it!
Lovely horse, event and training! Only one thing I see and would like to share a perspective on. I never leave a halter dangling that is tied to anything. It is an easy habit to take off the halter from a tied horse and drop it when tacking. It leaves a big safety hazard however as it is still attached to the tie. I find it to be a great peace of mind to unhook it from the tie as soon as it it off my horse’s head.
How is it a safety hazard? I’m just comparing it to everything else we do with horses and pretty much everything can be a “safety hazard”
Loved it thanks
How do you know what to do in Dressage tests? Is there a course walk like in Cross Country? Or like papers?
Lynx is a goofball sweetie.
I put my phone in a VR headset to watch the cross country I am always gonna do that now with go pros it’s rly rly cool I recommend it
🏆
3yrs out of the wild and it bows. nice horse but a mustang in is a wild animal.
Are you making the argument that it's feral, not wild? Technically true but meaningless. The horse has spent its entire life in the wild and likely numerous generations before it, so for purposes of training, it's wild.
what level is black on blue? Lynx is such a well mannered boy, and congrats!!!
I don’t remember what they called it here (schooling event!) but it was 2’3” to 2’6” (I swear some of the XC ones were 2’9” though 🤣)
Does unclipping the halter in the wash stall make it breakaway?
Y'all are so cute
Where do you live? I hear you talk of Texas and Florida but this doesn’t look like either?
Gah! I love your saddle! Where did you get it?!
WOW saddles!
Well ridden all the way around.
Horse pajamas! 😂
💚💚💚
Tip: you can put a sponge or piece of fabric on the microphone to lessen wind noises. I know it works on phones and more expensive cameras, so it might work with a GoPro
Thanks!
Very nice. But I thought all mustangs had a number brand on side of neck. My friend has a mustang with a brand. Just was wondering. Good ride. toodles debs from Texas
Yup! All BLM mustangs are branded. This one is branded
Why do you call the showjumping phase of eventing stadium? Is it an American thing? x
Yeah! I’m still new to eventing but at all the trials I’ve gone to they call it stadium. I’m used to just calling it jumpers because that’s what I normally show... but I’m trying to start calling it stadium for eventing since everyone else does
On a scale from 1 to 10 how much harder is it to train a mustang instead of a domestic horse 🐎 🐴
Awesome
"Good job bud"
*yeets crop*
ahahaha
Impressive
God you rock!!!!!!
Very nice, well controlled, fun.
Sam where was this schooling event? Thanks in advance
Dade City
I like you video. Next time please braid him for dressage. It should be more nice and respect tradition. Dressage is elegant and flow like a classic dance. Dont be wild girl in this part :) you also show judges some respect too. This small touches pleased them. Also its handy because mane doesnt go to your reins.
Big congrats to your winning! :) im looking forward for your next video.
Best regards Sarka
This was a schooling show... if you watched the video you’d see that I debated braiding him but didn’t have enough time so I opted not to so I wouldn’t miss my ride times. I’ve braided him for literally every other show we’ve ever done.
How do u gain confidence for showing😅 I have zero confidence when it comes to going into a show ring especially in dressage because it’s not something I enjoy showing in. Someone help🤣
You know you are meant to put all of your hair inside the hairnet🤣🤣🤣
You don’t have to
Sorry English person just trying to help you
Ah yes bn test b my true enemy lol
I’m so happy for you! You worked so hard and totally deserve it!!! You’re such an inspiration and truly talented ♥️
