Must be hard to let such a unique horse go after having spent such an intense time together. It was wonderful to be able to join you and Rue on your journey. Thanks for that, Sam. She really is a special horse, and both of you can be happy to have met and to have made such an impact on each other. Greetings from Europe!
It’s so great to hear you say how much you love Rue now ... what a dramatic change from the girl who charged you at the beginning. GREAT JOB! Can’t wait to see your next challenge!
I admire you and that you can find the courage and strength to do this. It can't be easy saying good bye after all the time spent together but the memories, videos and experiences are all yours. I think you did an amazing job with Roulette :)
Thank you for sharing the highs and lows with us. Be kind to yourself during this time. Eleanor Roosevelt said "Life Is A Series Of Adjustments". My respect and admiration to you, Laural
Hey Sam I’ve been watching your videos for awhile now, and love how you work with the horses! Do you find it difficult to give them up? Personally, I can’t imagine spending so much time, building trust and a relationship, only to give them up at the end........ I know that’s the main reason, to find homes for the Mustangs, but it must be awfully hard on you......☹️ I admire your work and dedication. Love to watch the progress with each horse. Looking forward to what 2020 brings 😊
Louise Vella the greatest people give little parts of themselves to someone else’s lifelong best friend. Doing stuff like Sam does isn’t for everyone that’s for sure. I couldn’t do it that’s for sure.
Great work Sam! Learning on the go and being on Show! ... congratulations she 💗IS 💗wonderful... the prettiest girl by far! Thankyou Sam a good life ahead💫
Unbelievably cool what you do with these Mustangs. I got interested after watching Hildago and the horse whisperer. Some trainers are very savvy like you but some are outright not as smart as their horses.
I have a question, does it require you to have like professional facilities to do the mustang magic/makeover , or can I just use a roundpen for the begining , also I live in texas too
Are there any penalties for those trainers that don't show up for the competition? What happens to the horses who don't participate? Also,I keep thinking about the black mare who went for around 6K that was in Roulette's original auction. I wonder if she made it to the competition.
You can choose to show up to the competition or not, you just have to let MHF know. They won’t care either way :) The horses that don’t participate either get adopted by the trainer, TIP trained out, or go back to holding. The one that went for 6K in that initial auction was not at the makeover.
As an English rider myself, I am always happy to see the occasional English riding in the Mustang competitions! I was wondering how English riders were received in these shows, as it seems that the majority ride Western. Do you think that there is any bias against English?
I don’t think so, I was just barely out of the top 10 (12th) and I was the only English rider there out of 50. I had a few bobbles which knocked me out, if I had just a few more points I would have made it. Maybe at the earlier makeovers, but now it seems pretty fair 😊
Sam VanFleet I was watching it as much as possible online- you did great! I am always curious about the English/Western “divide”- I know I certainly experienced some odd remarks about my “little patch of leather” that I ride with when I moved from the east coast/Boston after college (many years ago- Sam you weren’t even born yet) to Tucson AZ . Things are definitely much more diverse now- with many high quality stables which are open to both disciplines , thank goodness 👍🏼
You did so well in these called I am wanting to get a mustang but don't know how to go about it and how I would have to horse professionally my pasture and round pen. I cried when they was auctioning her off do you get to keep the money?? What part of Florida are you in???
First like! Idk about comment tho. Even tho i haven't watched it yet this is gonna be a great video! Edit: You guys tried your best!!! And you guys were awesome!
Hello! I’m French and I don’t know if I missed or didn’t understand, but why does people have to give the mustangs to other families? Can’t they keep them? Thanks for answer ❤️ greetings from France
Trainers auction horses in order to be able to adopt a new mustang. It also promotes the breed to a wider audience. I believe auction proceeds go to maintaining the program.
The video cut out with the auctioneer asking for "52" or $5200. At least I don't think anyone had bid yet. There was a pretty quick run from the starting bid of $2000 up through "48" or "48 hundred" and I think it settled around 51.
I love your videos but can I suggest that you tone down these horrible electronic tunes you use?? I have to keep switching between the volume of your voice that I have to play louder and then this music starts soo loud that I cant stand it and it hurts my ears. For me personally you could leave the music altogether, I like the sounds as is. But I also understand you want to spice a video up a bit. Keep on doing your wonderful work, so much to learn from your videos.

It broke my heart when you said this is your last adventure together. You’ve done amazing and I’m so happy I found your account 💜
A lot of trainers said the scoring was pretty harsh, Rou did great and so did you. Great dancing skills too Sam :)

I am so in awe of this horse's eyes. I could look at her all day and never tire. She is just so lovely.
Didn’t realize how sad this video made me. I really love Rue and will miss her. Sweet mare! Nice job Sam!
Such a joy to watch you take this wild horse and completely transform her.

Omg the farewell is so poignant! She’s become such a gentle lady, that wild girl. 😿

Thank you very much Sam and Congrats on such a great experience 💕I know Rou misses you too! She is Special🐴
There goes my favorite horse. I've been holding off seeing this cause I knew it would be sad. But I'm glad she is going to a good home.
Like your outlook on this class and your explanation of how you saw the scoring. You and Rue..., a class act girl!
You did a fantastic job with her -- you should definitely be proud! I'm so glad she went to a good home
Thank you and I'm proud of the work you two did together. Looking forward to your next adventure!
Great video, and good job with Roulette! I really appreciate the wat you walk through them, as it helps me catch little things I would otherwise miss.
Great work Sam! Learning on the go and being on Show! ... congratulations she 💗IS 💗wonderful... the prettiest girl by far! Thankyou Sam a good life ahead💫
" Evergreen branches" EVIL!!! DANGER!! PROTECT RIDER!!!! ..... You weren't the only one who had problems!:)
Honestly I think you should've adopted her you two share a great bond
If someone wanted to pay for me to keep her, and then pay for her care as I own her for the next 20 years, sure.
What you do deserves so much respect. Thankyou for sharing your journey.
Mustangs are sold so that more Mustangs can be saved...sad yes, but oh! The new beginnings!:) 💘
Awesome job with that little head-strong mare. She is a beauty.
Great job! Rou looked absolutely gorgeous! I really need to find an event like this in MT to go watch live! Thanks for sharing Sam! :)
Good on ya girls! Congrats it was a fabulous journey u both took n i enjoyed every minute u posted...thank you love from Australia 😎🌻
Rou is truly an amazing horse

Morgan Loden the requirements for entering are found on the blm.gov website.😊

I don't believe there are any penalties...some horses just take more time, and some trainers are not able to get to the event...

Great job. Any suggestions to help with pre-show anxiety?
The more you do it, the less anxiety you’ll have 🙂
Just think your in a lesson
Love ya , hot mess or not. Great job Sam!💞🤗🇺🇸
Although necessary, the bidding and leaving her would be so hard. Good work.
I just saw your insta post you've done amazing

Terri TN no she sold her
Awesome
That's is a beautiful horse you should of keep to that horse
She come a long way, what did you name her ?
Roulette!
@@SamVanFleet for your hard work 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👌
I like it
Will you go on to a new horse?
Just thinking will she run into horses from her wild herd?
Ooh i think you got trump in the vid!!
Was that 15 it 53 hundred?
Jean Fish 5200
Judges were real tough this year
Jean Fish yes, especially the finals! Some very very uneven scoring...looked like pretty obvious favoritism to me
What did Rou end up going for?
Early! ❤️
omg how do you understand the biddings?! they talk so fast
