The Scanner Guys originated as outreach by Scanner Master to the scanner community, in order to showcase new products and services. We started by hosting Facebook Live shows, often at random times, that became extremely popular in 2018 when the Uniden Bearcat SDS100 was first introduced. We were the first retailer that was able to demonstrate it. At the 2018 Dayton Hamvention, we had the only SDS100’s available for public viewing and hundreds of people came to see them. Eventually, we settled on the weekly Wednesday evening show that you all have grown to love.

Jonathan, Thank you for such an informative video on the Unication pagers. I've been into scanning since my youth... aka: Bearcat BC101 days. I'm now considering buying a G4 pager ! Programming : Well I can program my SDS and DMR radios, so it should not be a problem. I Love your presentations and always come away with some interesting products/ideas. Across the country all the city, county and state Law Enforcement agencis are encrypting their feeds. So why would anyone purchase a scanner
I have a G5 and it works great on Ohio MARCS. If you have the money there are other options that will non-affiliate scan and they work well and are more public safety oriented.
These are awesome, but is there a n affordable unit that is just a reliable scanner for local emergency services?
Question, I’m new to scanning. What does this do different or better than the Uniden SDS100
I use a /\/\ APX with NAS.
Our local police department says they are encrypted. However I would like to have a scanner not only to use locally but as we travel in our RV. Do you have a recommendation?
These are junk for scanning, just get a uniden. No system scanning, cant scan between systems. Wayyyy too expensive for what they really are.
Can the G4 or G5 handle a “Provoice EDACS system”? I might be wording it incorrectly, but that is what Radio Reference lists it as (for the local Police department.)
G4 works in my area better than a SDS when in a vehicle. Never misses a beat.
I have no clue what my area uses. I couldn’t pick up on my old radio shack fantastic. Do you know if this will pick up highland, in…. It’s lake county Indiana. I believe they use 25 trunking systems. I’m clueless. I nosy, just like to know what’s happening.

Just wish someone could come up with a way to defeat the encryption system that our local departments use. The police, sheriff's office and fire refuse to even cooperate with media outlets on this. Our judicial branch even sided with the department's sighting officer and firefighters safety comes before public needs of knowledge. CHEERS from Colorado
The police look bad enough at time and to have secret channels it makes for much more distrust. Encryption should be banded in most cases .
You need to get together with your local community and take it to the council meetings. You're the boss; not them.
@@vitogriffin8902 city council and county commissioners have sided with the department's time and time again. They keep saying that the officers safety is paramount to public knowledge of what's going on.
@@brucel399 they typically do. There's nothing pointing to any officer safety issues other than hypothetical scenarios made up by the police. But that's why people need to be united and let the local government officials know that if they don't do what the citizens want then they'll be voted out of office and replaced by someone who will. The problem is that too many people are complacent, lazy and really don't want the responsibility of being in charge, so they don't care what happens as long as it doesn't bother them personally.
Officer safety is trotted out as the excuse in so many situations and there is a whole UA-cam genre documenting its abuse as an excuse for opaqueness. My local department does not encrypt, and it seems apparent that LEO know they are speaking in public. Thus is becomes a platform to showcase that they are competent and helpful. If they need confidentiality they use other channels. "Give me a 16." means call me on a cell phone. This is the really smart way to handle it. They demonstrate how hard they work everyday by talking on the radio. Perhaps your local leadership needs to see this issue in a new light.
Completely useless for the UK We do not use P25 ,Not sure about American Air bases in the UK
I'll continue using the reliable SDS scanner.
So if I got the VHF version and wanted to use it as a conventional VHF scanner I could not do that.

I just purchased a G4 pager. I have an SDS 100 scanner, but I wanted something purposefully built for the systems that I have where I am at on Long Island. All this stuff is very new to me. I thought I could just import radio reference onto the pager and at least I could start using it, but that hasn’t worked for me, so we’ll see how it goes. I’m gonna start watching all these videos.

Great video. I wish they made digital radios that were priced like analog ones... One day, Baofeng will make an NXDN radio.

I love uniden map pricing. I work in an industry where that does not exist. The worst thing is it makes the mom and pops and small operators look like thieves!

When using Sentinel, when I create a new profile. I see that all of my established favorites lists copy over as well. When I delete the favorites & go back to open the previous saved version, the version I open appears to be the one that I am working on (with the previous favorites deleted). How do I save a favorites list & go back later to open the saved version & not the new version?

Very blurry focus. I've noticed the blur and the choppy audio on your channel. Audio trails off and sounds very digital. I thank you for doing these videos though.
Can anyone tell what I’m doing wrong🤔 after creating favorites list, I go to select list to monitor, turn that one on and menu back. Scanner says loading favorites list, then says nothing to scan. What am I missing ?
Is the Sentinel software free to download to your laptop? I paid for the radio reference subscription, but I don’t know how to use it looking for a little Info thanks.
Putting Dmr frequency in the scanner dmr upgrade done will not receive. Same programing on the 996p2 works

Good imfo.. but please for the love of God, shorten the music on the beginning of the presentation. It's very irritating and unessasary to have it play so long.

I'm new to uniden scanners I have a bcd996b2 scanner using arc xt and when I program the scanner on the last two lines where the site and groups are supposed to be only the site shows up can't get the groups to show up I'd really would like some help on this thanks Gene

Trunking phase 2: it's not about licensing more frequencies, it's about having additional expensive controllers, transmitters, feed line and antennas
Repeater. Don't SAY transmiit and receive frequencies at all. It causes confusion. Use INPUT and OUTPUT. Both frequencies can technically be both. The repeater output is TRANSMITTING also. And many of us have INPUT frequencies always displayed.
