Keep ALL your Fingers Making Wood Shims! 4 Quick + Simple DIY Methods

Here's Four Simple and Easy DIY Methods of safely making wood Shims. If you ever ran out of shims and or forgot to pick some up at the hardware store before heading out on a project for the day don't worry I got your back. This came in handy for me at a job site where I ran out of shims and I had to make my own on site with scrap material lying around. I've seen other methods around to do this but the beauty of these methods is that you don't need to spend hours making complicated jigs to make wood shims, instead use simple tools you most likely have and scrap material that is just lying around. The other great thing about making your own wood shims as shown is that I'll show you how to do it safely and not loose a finger or two on cheap wood shims. In my four methods I'll show you how to make shims with a circular saw or skill saw, how to make shims with a mitre saw two different ways, and how to make shims on the table saw in the quickest way possible. I've also order them in the method from fastest and most roughest shims to the slowest but nicest shims. This is a handy little thing to know because you will likely use wood shims on many different projects such as installing cabinets, Installing Windows and Doors, and so many general construction projects...

Once you set up the mitre saw for the angle you could have put a stop block on the right side of the blade and gone very quickly, you could also make the shims longer than the width of your stock, but less than the saws cutting width. The table saw method at the end with the extra holding block was overkill, you could have just used the push stick to hold it against the blade and gotten more than one or two shims out of the tail end. Other than that, great way to make your own shims.

We just cut shim shapenin a board place other board in it and run threw table saw way faster
