Heri, this is an excellent and necessary video. There's a myriad of beginning guitar players that just want to jump in and start shredding right off the bat. Hopefully these people will take this video's lessons to heart. Speed is a function of efficient practice. This video demonstrates this importance. Thank you so much for taking the time to make it!!
you sir are a genius. very interesting exercise. covers, speed, picking and moving across the fretboard all in one exercise. easier to stick to this for half an hour to one hour and yet cover every aspect of guitar training. thank you sir.
@@HeriJoensen i have stopped doing everything else and just focusing on your advice. i had noticed that i was able to make music from scale shapes but unable to play them efficently with proper timing and speed and sccuracy because my hands are untrained and have no synchronisation. whats the point of learning all the theory if the hands are restricted in its ability to play. and i cannot practice your exercise over 55 bpm. this clearly shows how much i need to focus on speed, acuracy and timing. thanks again.
Hey! You know thats not too bad! I do very similar warms ups on the keyboard. Ive been told i should be playing guitar bacuse of my oddly huge hands but ive been very intimidated. Maybe watching your teachings will get me to pick up the dusty guitar in the corner 😆

Nice exercise. This is good for petrucci like up and down the neck playing. Practicing that in reverse can be helpful too.
GREAT VID!! I'm going to share this with my students. I'm stoked you are sharing your vast knowledge through these vids. They have all been killer!
Great! Nice way to explain. Never thought about the picking trick to get in the beat.
