I really need to learn to read music so I can understand all of this, because I have no idea what more than half of these terms mean. I'm definitely going to be using these videos to learn more, thank you Heri! \m/
As a suggestion (and maybe something like this is coming in a later video), I would like to see a 4-way split screen with the chords used, the bass notes used, and the 2 separated vocal lines. What you're saying makes sense, but requires a fair bit of concentration to follow -- or maybe I just need a beer.
My main two problems in guitar playing are my ability to sing and play at the same time because when I try to sing I get thrown off of my playing really badly and the other thing is shredding for example guitar solos in bands like led Zeppelin,Motörhead, and some of your songs. Is there any way to improve in these things.
The only way I know is with a metronome. GuitarPro is also an excellent practising tool. Singing and playing at the same time takes concentrated practising effort. Be mindful of what word and which tone (on the guitar) falls at the same time and memorize it thoroughly.
Hey there, I really like your videos. My guitar teacher told me to use the pentatonic to write the tabs. Do you think this is useful or do you prefer writing down a melody you just imagine?
+Eduard Wolf I'm not sure what you mean by "use the pentatonic to write the tabs". I just doodle around on the guitar until I come up with something. It usually appears to my inner ear before it manifests on the guitar. So I guess you can say I write melodies from imagination.
Heri Joensen audiation is what hes referring to. Music theory will help you do this thats why theory isnt required to play an instrument but it definitely makes it much much easier. my personal opinion.
i would have preferred actual vocals as examples in the video instead of guitar, as it gets a little confusing mixed in with all the technical jargon but hey still a good explanation.
+Thy Doughnut Yes, I understand. It would have required that I wrote the lyrics first, or mocked up some lyrics. It wouldn't represent the way I work. I do everything on guitar while writing the music. The last thing I do before recording the song is write the lyrics. Hopefully when the song is done I can make a video with several windows and recorded vocals.
Heri, I want to thank you for being such a huge inspiration to me as a musician, and what you do for a our community.
I love you band so much can't wait for next album
will take probably hour of work to understand the video lol. thank u so much to share ur work and experience with us 💕

I'm looking forward to it Heri! Thanks! \m/

+Tim Regan I'll definitely take that up when I upgrade to Final Cut Pro X. iMovie has its limits.
+Heri Joensen In that case I better contribute to the Patreon. Thanks for these videos and the response!
+Tim Regan Yes, you better! ;-)
