    I love the use of melody and harmony in your writing, and I love that you're breaking down the riffs here in addition to the solo. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos.

    Hey Heri! Big fan. Saw you live, was impressed. Thanks for showing this song, it's a personal favorite. I managed to pull it through, although I had to learn the second guitar part for want of a seventh string (I play Godin, xtSA, good guitars, but 6 strings and only 22 frets, that is until I can afford a seven strings guitar)... I could pull the solo through, I simply had to change the octave at a place! 'Tis good music, exhilarating and fun to play! Keep up the good work. :)

    Heri, this is fantastic! Your instruction of both guitar parts is helpful and your playing of your solo half speed is perfect as I try to learn it. The only problem is that I don't have a 30-fret guitar like you, so I've got to figure out a few things. Thanks again this is great!!! :)

    Nice! I'd love to see a video where you do a demonstration just like this video, but with the song Hold The Heathen Hammer High, as that is without a doubt my favourite Týr song. By The Light Of Te Northern Star is an awesome album in it's whole, if I've gotta be honest. I love that album! Your Mjölnir necklace is cool. I've got one of my own too, but it's a different design.
    Greetings from the Netherlands :)

    • @baleksei
      @baleksei 10 років тому

      Nihil Islands Mangia is Italian for eat, eating, etc. I haven't studied Faeroese, only Danish, and of course Italian. Though I would love to visit the Scandinavian lands of my grandparents parents :)
      Eating is best in any language :)

    Henri, how do you get the note to vibrate near the end of the solo in the second last bar before the scale descent and bar dive?

      Heri Joensen Hahaha for sure. At my restaurant the chefs name is Henri... Stupid phone replaced it and I didn't notice. Heri is nowhere near a Frenchman's name!

    • @HeriJoensen
      @HeriJoensen  10 років тому +7

      I make the vibration by hitting the tremolo bar. This works a bit better with a FloydRose system than it does with the Schaller system on my Bjarnastein guitar.

    • @markrousseau8402
      @markrousseau8402 10 років тому

    Hei Heri, just wondered: Your exelent song by the light of the northern star? Is it inspired from the norwegian trad. Om kvelden or vice versa? Love your songs. You should come to norge!!! Jævla bra saker!

    I'm counting 29 frets on that guitar? Wow. Do you find yourself using those higher frets frequently? The last few look like they could be a pain to fret.

    • @HeriJoensen
      @HeriJoensen  10 років тому +4

      This guitar has a scale length between the standard and the baritone, so there is a bit more space between the frets. I don't find it that difficult to play. I play the 24+ frets quite frequently.

    I really can't seem to get the pronounciation of the name "Týr" right. :-(
    You should make a tutorial about how to correctly pronounce your band name. :-D

      @switch2308 10 років тому +1

      totally agree!!

    • @BRBWaffles
      @BRBWaffles 10 років тому +1

      According to the IPA provided on Tyr's wiki, it's pronounced something like "two-ear", kinda. But it's not two syllables. It's just one syllable, and ends up coming out closer to "twear".

    • @Twiggyay
      @Twiggyay 10 років тому +1

      Nick Hiebert
      Týr means male bull, and it's the same word in Norwegian except without the accented Y, so i just pronounce it like i would tyr. I realize that's not the proper Faroese way, though.
