14:00 I personally always thought of this whole “continuity issue” as follows: Back in the 30’s when “The Flying Kipper” accident happened, it never snowed that much on the west of Sodor, certainly not enough to warrant Thomas’ snowplow. This leads to his arrogance/cockiness about snow (“Snow is silly soft stuff, won’t stop me!”), but then later in the 40’s, the snowfall was worse than Thomas thought it would be, hence his accident. Those of you who see this and like (thank you btw for the likes!) lmk if you agree or disagree.
You are correct and your idea has real life evidence to back it up - the winter of 47/48 was the worst in living memory, probably the worst of the 20th century. So Thomas had seen snow before, but normal British snow and was therefore overconfident! Love how it all fits together with real life.
@@ThomasAndRandomRobloxGamesWdym why? He explained that yes it snowed but clearly not enough for a snowplow. Remember the issue with the flying kipper was mainly the ice. So Thomas definitely dealt with snow but not enough until he hit the massive snow drift Terrance saved em from.
I commented this before on the original upload but your comment at 13:45 can be explained - the winter of 1947/8 in the UK was horrendous - huge snowdrifts for a couple of months. So Thomas had seen snow before, but normal British snow. He was overconfident. This is what happens in the UK, we get little to no snow and then once in a generation we get turned into the arctic. Last happened in 2013 I think for a couple of weeks.

8:37 always found it weird that Mr "no, the rain will spoil my lovely green paint with red stripes" was all like "oh yes please!" when offered to be painted blue.
In the context of the first book (i.e. no plans to paint him green later), it's understandable that when obsessing over his green paint landed him in trouble, he might go in the complete opposite direction afterwards and want to have the same livery as his friends
@@epicdude8742 still weird but yeah, that is pretty much the only way it makes sense. Though he's soon green again without explanation which makes me think the getting painted blue was retconned out (presumably for not making sense.)
@@Scrinwaipwr Henry getting painted green again is a product of his history being illustrated in the books (see: the Sodor's Finest on Henry). Henry was written as an Atlantic engine in book 1, and as such would have looked distinct from Gordon even in a blue livery. However, both in the context of Wilbert's writing and within the story, Henry was later repainted to green because as he is illustrated (a flawed Pacific), he just looks too much like Gordon and confuses people. This was actually addressed and explained by Awdry, just not in the books. If you want to view the decision to paint Henry blue purely within the overall context of the series, you can still say that he wanted to change his color after his green paint obsession landed him in trouble. I did some calculations a while back and found Sodor was in range of German bombers but not the fighters thus it would be risky for the Germans to attack Sodor, that and the fact Sodor probably was not super critical to Britain's war effort so would be of little strategic importance giving the Luftwaffe little incentive to attack Sodor in the first place.

Little plot hole I've just discovered in More about Thomas the Tank Engine. In The Runaway it's said that Duck helps out on Thomas' branch while he is away. (I know these were written mainly for tv but it's said in the book as well) why? Later Thomas goes to York and Percy, Toby and Daisy manage fine. In Toby Trucks and trouble they also manage while Thomas is on Edward's line. So why was there a need for Duck?

I think they are implying that Thomas didn't have any major events when is normally snowed on Sodor, that story was maybe the first time he decided to not wear a snowplow
It's left ambiguous. But considering that they were left in poor shape by 1919, it's likely they were scrapped. Of course, there's the chance that some were kept and perhaps were left to run in the background. After all, there are apparently several engines on Sodor that haven't been explicitly shown but still do work on the railway.
@kaiserfuzhelmiii2416 Oh I'm going off the wiki, which states that the four engines were left in poor shape by 1919. That was probably a detail that was only in the Railways of Sodor Lecture by Awdry.

13:55 thomas first saw snow in the 4th book and the flying kipper crash didn't happen until the 6th book
Amazing video with an interesting timeline!
Don’t mind me just casually taking notes for my own timeline
2:01 to 3:28 is untouched and the w&s was run by three barely functioning freelance designs
3:40 to 4:07 the mountain railway, does not see this success it wanted, so it was quickly scrapped and shut down, leaving an engine (culdee) to go to the skr as the engines couldn’t handle the higher levels of the mountains
4:51 the W & S do not go into Brandon instead, they build a little port
5:43 a 3rd line was opened to be a goods line for the now merging railways called “the little western” but it’s rock face was too dense for the machinery at the time, so they abandoned the project (for now)
6:15 an older engine, called Molly is brought on loan from the Barrow in Furness railway, along with a reliable freelance design called Percy
6:38 once the line was completed, Percy was kept at the big station to shunt trains, while the experimental freelance designs that the w&s owned are now running the branch up too Farquhar
7:09 percy is officially bought by the NWR along with Molly, but they basically had no time to paint on numbers for them so they remained numberless (Molly still remains numberless to this day)
7:29 Barry is one of these loaned engines from a new branch that goes up to peel, sharing it with the midsodor
7:33 Henry has quite a lot of steaming troubles, but was not stupid enough to wall himself inside a tunnel
7:49 even though his displeasure with Henry the fat director still kept him he is still in his old shape to this day.
8:10 a brand new A1 Pacific comes from the London and north eastern railway comes along, because most of the loaned engines have gone back to their respective owners not including Barry
8:55 the Hydro electric company does not exist in this universe, so the midsodor along with the SKR are still open
Basically, all the stories with Thomas are replaced with Percy, and all the stories with Edward are replaced with Molly PT1
Pt2
9:30 a line up to peel Godrich scrap yards is built so scrap can be more easily transferred there, two engines were bought and built an engine called Dane and an engine called hawin
In 1925 hawin crashed and the parts were not available to repair him, so they made him Edward and loaned him to the nwr
10:27 this is when Edward (from the peel godreed scrap line) was scrapped do to having too much damage to be used anymore
Barry “rescues” Edward, and is called Barry the rescue engine from than on
10:40 this is when the W&S engines have gone away one way or another, Rosie (No.4 W&S) is transferred to But on her way there, she had ran away in the night
13:41 that winter percy damage is a snow plow by accident and gets stuck in snow
14:27 since the brandom branch doesn’t exist, this doesn’t happen
15:04 this is when the fat controller decides to go on a holiday with his family, they love the little engine there, but he cannot afford to buy him right now because of the big changes happening on the railway
15:38 this year is when a little dark blue engine with yellow stripes runs to sodor, his name is Thomas and replaces duck, he is the station pilot for knaford for now
Vicrstown is not where everyone is, it’s tidmoth
Noice
So is your headcanon for the TV series Percy the Small Engine and Friends
@@fanofeverything30465 yeah basically
Hey so I’m writing still writing the lore but it’s currently in a docs file and wouldn’t come out until later
Whos watching this video after the updated rws timeline video
Hi there! I’m new to this channel, so could you tell me the name of the map you used for your timeline videos?
I did some calculations a while back and found Sodor was in range of German bombers but not the fighters thus it would be risky for the Germans to attack Sodor, that and the fact Sodor probably was not super critical to Britain's war effort so would be of little strategic importance giving the Luftwaffe little incentive to attack Sodor in the first place.
Sir Robert Norramby being killed in action in the African Theater was one major way the War did affect Sodor, as that led to Duke's disappearance after the Mid-Sodor closed
21:14 "buy one get one free™"
That's a very good explanation of the timeline of the books that will become a great TV series (for some eras).
My favorite the unlucky tug video of All Time

I would love to see Tug attempt to make the ultimate Thomas Timeline with RWS, TVS and CGI events all together! 😂
I know that part of the book was supposed to be a victory for rheneas, but he looks like he’s screaming on the inside in this shot 12:56
Ppl: Thomas is a baby show why are you watching it
Me: Sorry to say but you peasants don't know the *LORE*
Happy 100th anniversary to the Peel Godred branch line. 😀🙂🙂
Let’s get this back to a million views.
26:50 Duke never thought he would ever be found. He was perfectly content with being left there, Alone, for the rest of his days. It's quite saddening.
Best history lesson ever
I mean you could go back farther than this, considering Awdry wrote lore extending back to the 900s AD!!
Unlucky Tug, do you make your videos in photoshop?
The Unlucky Tug: Reuploaded
What an absolutely amazing cohesive recap of the Bible
19:51 RIP Sir Topham Hatt I 😢
How do they make the locomotives “alive” at the factory? I always wondered.
They don't necessarily "make them alive" exactly, the engines just come to life. Steam engines are known to have lots of character and quirks, all the different sounds and noises they make is what gave the Reverend Awdry the inspiration to create a series about trains that could talk.
@@AmirPrinceling I think they became alove by themselfs .
I Have A Head Canon For The Dual Tunnel. One Line Connects To Ballahoo And The Other Directly To Crovan’s Gate. In My Mind, Henry Stopped In The Ballahoo Side And Edward Traveled Through The Crovan’s Gate Side.
But It was Called The Crovans Gate Mining Co. Until they changed the name to the Skarloey Railway
Man, what a time to have! Wish I had these books! :3
I missed this video like missing a loved one.
I love how nothing happens from 2011-2020
Little plot hole I've just discovered in More about Thomas the Tank Engine.
Please make a thomas podcast with other YTubers, your voice is very calming

Hello Rheneas
This is a mess
“Sodor sees its first celebrity visitor the City of Truro”
Queen Elizabeth four years earlier: 🤨
I just really feel like they're missing a big opportunity with the direction that they're taking Thomas. Do I do understand the change to some degree to fit with modern-day kids television I really feel like there's a huge for having more adult based illustrated books continue in the Thomas the tank engine series as it did aligned towards the audiences that grew up with it
I do not know if the original upload original said 1806 - 2021 instead of 2020, but that's my thought
Hi Unlucky Tug! I'd like to know where you got the year 1926 from for when the locomotive strike and the year Percy arrived is.
I watch this video, and it's excellent, and I love it.
And now I'm sad.
I'm not sure why.
Sad and wistful.
Something to do with that fact that it feels so real but you'll never be able to visit? I've had that feeling after the RWS map video Tug did
I don't know. Maybe. Maybe it's that, or maybe it's that it all ... came to an end. Or maybe it's that there's such a great deal I knew nothing about. It all seemed so ... timeless, before this video.
Shut up
finally, its uploaded again, and finally i can advance with my religion project.
Doesn't Daisy way more than Thomas cos small steam engine
Soooo basically everyone gets an overhaul eventually?
Outstanding Job
This is my favourite vid
@The Unlucky Tug you need to add the other two timeline videos to the timeline playlist!
>what the actual hell were you thinking here awdry
>look inside
>during 40's heavy snowfall was recorded
Good job this must’ve took a long time to do
I think they are implying that Thomas didn't have any major events when is normally snowed on Sodor, that story was maybe the first time he decided to not wear a snowplow
I’d honestly rather learn the lore the railway series than school…
THE FIRST IS BACK
So what happened to the wellsworth and suddery engines? Or the other engines on the older standard gauge railways?
It's left ambiguous. But considering that they were left in poor shape by 1919, it's likely they were scrapped. Of course, there's the chance that some were kept and perhaps were left to run in the background. After all, there are apparently several engines on Sodor that haven't been explicitly shown but still do work on the railway.
@@AmirPrinceling why were they left in poor shape? I've never heard that before
@kaiserfuzhelmiii2416 Oh I'm going off the wiki, which states that the four engines were left in poor shape by 1919. That was probably a detail that was only in the Railways of Sodor Lecture by Awdry.
