Have had the K556 quite a while. The keyboard is build like a tank and feels amazing for typing and gaming.
does it have a disco mode of RGB lol my steel series on my MSI and light bar is disco i kinda want it all to be the same :) lol
@@Ian-wv1ej Yeah, it has a lot of silly RGB modes. I personally set the RGB to the lowest brightness possible and keep to one color.👍 but you can go full disco
i own several redragon products and theyre the nokia of peripherals xD
@@Nico_Conradiehey uh what switch you used for that keyboard?
I have steal series I fine they go out fast @@Ian-wv1ej
It really is kind of a hidden gem in my opinion. I love this thing to death. Been using it for 1-2 years now and I am completely satisfied with it.
I just bought this keyboard and it really feels nice! I am digging the color combinations and how you can edit the colors completely to your liking, even key by key. Keys feel solid and not super noisy. Cheers for the great review and wtg RedDragon!
I want buy this keyboard too
So can you tell how is it now
@@henayasmin601 I am loving it!!! Still not one friggin problem with it. Super solid mate. I recommend fully. Great price and feels really good. No malfunctions whatsoever. Still rockin it! Cheers!
@@Chris_WG thank you
@@Chris_WG have you tried changing the switches?
@@nickpatalinghug2362 I haven't yet because I liked the packaged setup. They provide the tool to pick the keys which is great and they give you some optional keys to try. It just feels really good as is to me, but I did pull a key or two to see how easy it was and it's easy. :) I love this thing!
I have to say this, you're growing so fast and you really deserve it, I didn't even realise that you were so small when I watched your previous videos! I hope you become part of the big techtubers!
Edit: I forgot to write the one word he said to write 🤦♂️ Done. Good Luck to Everyone!
Yooo nice review! Already at 40k! Keep growing man your doing great!
After a while I wanted to try modding this so here is what I did and how it turned out:
1) PE foam on the interior was less significant than it sitting on top of PE foam. I've done both and like the sound change.
2) Lubing the stabilizers with some dielectric grease* was the second most significant change I did. The keys sound solid and deeper. No strange plastic rattling apart from the fact the stab housings don't sit flat on the plate.
3) Changing the board firmware to QMK let me use open RGB to control my board with the case - a little buggy but it can now go even dimmer and I can save the color profiles. If you want Signal RGB to pick this project up, let them know.
4) Taping the PCB was a nightmare as there are so many holes on the back to account for. Honestly idk if it is worth it.
USB-C mod is rough. Switch & click did a usb-c mod for a k552 and I tried to apply it here. You will need to drill the center hole larger, the case does not leave enough space around the daughter board.
The proper white value for this board is around R-140, G-255, B-200
*(non conductive, repels moisture, does not chem. react with anything, & decreases stab wiggle inside the stems)
dudeee i really wanna mod mine too but how the heck did you open it up XD maybe im blind? I have also never modded a keyb and I'm trying to learn. Do you think I could change the switches and keycaps to make it more thocky? Is there anything you would recommend? (im asking since you seem to know what you're talking about)
Would appreciate the help
@@soosoolar there are screws under a few sets of keycaps. You'll have to look between two keys to see them. The switches can be replaced but the two wires that attach to the pcb are thinner than many other switches. Absolutely use dielectric grease on the stabs. I think pudding keycaps would be pretty cool on these
Just got into mechanical keyboards and am looking forward for my first one to come in the mail! Keyboards are so fun idk
this keyboard + akko keys = awesomeness. The moment i discovered akko switches have a thinner contact pin like the outemu and thus can be used in an outemu socket, this keyboard hit my radar hard lol
As long as it lights up and looks pretty...you have me sold
AND has satisfying clicks
might get this. thanks for the great review!
Thank you consumer tech for shining some light on the reddragon brand
your review videos are lifesavers 🥰💛✨
i just got it today
and its fantastic for typing and gaming
i love this keyboard
Excellent review, this helps a lot when trying to decide for a not so expensive keyboard, keep it up
and "done" ofc
Great review man! Even though I already think I picked my keyboard that I’m gonna buy based off of a past review, but now with this one I’m not so sure😂 Also, DONE! Good luck everyone👍
Done, done, and doneeee!
I love your videos man they’re professional and straight to the point, and you review within reasonable budgets too!
Yo man was just watching you and was looking at the red dragon k580 and kinda interested in it but this also really good as well! Recently I’ve been addicted to watching you I dont know why
Yessss Ur channels back
Hi consumer tech review your videos helped me choose my keyboard and mouse so thanks for that
I have the Reddragon vara K551. I have a condition when im playing games or tensed my hand sweats. after 3 years 1 key q died while play COD. just ordered the K556. i love the build quality
I subbed so now I knew when he uploaded a new vid!
Done! I think the build quality of this keyboard is absolutely amazing.
Amazing review!
“Done” I came for a monitor review a couple months ago and stayed for the quality content. Keep up the good shit and good vibes bro!
"done"! And great video man! You persuaded me to get a 60% tho, I might have to get this as a back up!
love your reviews😍
Done!! Thanks for the review. Love this keyboard!
That outro was my FAVORITE!
That's crazy i just started looking into this keyboard today and upload this vid.
tbf you could just hotswap the switches to gaterons! i have this keyboard and switched them to kailh bronze speeds which are 10/10. If you do though, make sure the pins fit. I had to file them down a bit to fit the outemu holes in the board. great review dude
Still using my K556 after 3.5 years. There is an open source utility called OpenRGB that now works with this keyboards led controller, and it makes creating custom lighting layouts super easy.
Ayyyyy my guy already at 40k!
“Done” that keyboard would be a great start for my pc setup that rbg, the metal feeling and the grip of those keycaps just must be pleasant
bro love your edits on your vids👍👍
Just bought this, it’ll be my first mechanical keyboard. Thanks for the great detailed video 👍
is it still holding up pretty good any issues ?
@@DetoxXBL So far, no issues at all. It’s a solid board and great quality. I think it’s perfect👌 especially for the price
@@George-ty2ge sweet I just got mine yesterday and love it hoping it dont give me any problems
@@DetoxXBL I'm using my for almost 5 years now. still in good condition.
@@karlbryangarcia3709 nice do all the lights work still ? Also did you ever have to replace anything on it ?
Underrated channel 💯
"Done." Thanks to you, I have a killer setup without destroying my wallet. I recently bought the Pixio PX277 after watching the review from Type C Tech Review. It should arrive on Saturday, March 13. I am so hyped! Keep up the great work!
Love your videos and love red dragon👍🏼
might buy this because of you now, thanks for the great review!
Consider me a long term user of over 2 years... I'm actually typing this on mine right now. I've loved this keyboard, feel like I stole it for under $60 on amazon when I bought it, and the only thing I've done to it was add blue switches to the Enter/Return, ESC, Windows, space and backspace keys just for personal preference. As someone who doesn't have a big budget for a fully custom mechanical keyboard, this might be the best compromise I could've possibly found for such an affordable price. 10/10, I not only recommend, I love this keyboard and will be buying a new one probably next year just so I have a backup in case they stop making them before my current one needs replacing...
Nice vid, keep at it ♡
"Done"
I've always loved red dragon products because they make very good keyboards/mice for a lot less than competitors. Also they are supporting smaller creators, no Diss to you, you should be on atleast a million subs
P.s Congrats on 40k 🎉🎉🎉
You are my favourite UA-camr by a mile
Upgrading from my blue clicky switch K552 Kumara TKL from 2019 to a K556 Pro Wireless TKL with red linears. As much as I would like the number pad for when I do need it, I’m not really needing to enter numerical and mathematical data hardly at all and the desk save on the TKL really lets me not have to out my arms as far apart when aiming playing lower sens games.
I think imma order both and depending whether or not I can get by with the Full size or not, I can always just return.
Well, I did subscribe to both your channels & the Redragon one, and was this close to typing Done, but I have a sneaky feeling the contest is over. 🤣
congrats on 40k
Recently bought this keyboard and the price was amazing at $40 and they did actually update the keyboard with a removable cable.
What do you mean removable cable it’s wireless?
@@degoek it is not a wireless keyboard. Just has a removable cable.
“Done” , I’ve been looking for the right keyboard, this got me intrigued!
Wow this would be a great upgrade. Done!
awesome review and “done”!
i bought this one like 3 months ago i really like it
luv ya content
“Done” I absolutely love the quality of your videos. Not only are they educational, but now I really want to get some mechanical keyboards that fit my typing needs
Done
I really need this keybord cause im building my first ever setup for a 500 dollar budget and this keybord would honestly help me out alot. Btw love the content man
So I didn’t know anything about this keyboard and just picked it up… Looks like I just made an awesome choice!
I've been needing a new keyboard and "done"
It would be great if they had more expensive Cherry MX and Gateron options as well. Maybe for those options make the price like $80-$100 since those are better than Outemus.
Done! I never had any type of keyboard before other than the keyboard on a laptop and the keyboard in my phone haha. It'll be nice to type on one for homework assignments.
Done! I'm switching to keyboard and mouse and my current keyboard is broken, lol. This would rly help. Keep it up bro :D
“Done” good luck I have a ducky one 2 mini myself, but my friend really wants a keyboard so if I win it’s for him. ❤️
That's very nice of you. Good luck!
For the next redragon keyboard you should really do a review of a K569 Aryaman, especially because there is not a really professional review for k569
Should I get the k556 or k569?
Nice keyboard! Redragon has been doing a good job for a while! DONE!!!!!
Done! My laptop keyboard is pretty buggy and I would love a new one, and what better one than the red dragon k556!
"Done"
Love your reveiws! Hoping i can get this keyboard to fit the theme of my set up! :) ty
Done. This is an awesome budget keyboard especially for office work 👍
Done!
Love your videos! The keyboard would be great for school and programming!
Can you do a review of the Razer Huntsman mini? I am debating wether I should buy it. And if you do can you put the keyboard as red switches. Thanks
Currently have a Destiny 2 style Razer Ornata Chroma (v1 I believe), and am thinking of getting the K556 because I want a mechanical keyboard without breaking the bank by sticking with Razer lol
I'm still using it in 2024. my gf gave me this as a Christmas gift last 2019. still in good condition
Hey ctr, first of all great reviews as always but this time I have a qs : Do you think I should buy the redragon k556 or the pulsar pk010 cuz they are the best budget ones in my opinion. Here's some context. I'm gonna get a pc for the first time I'm my life so I dont know what a mechanical keyboard feels like so do I buy this or the pulsar
Fun fact if you clip a end of Gateron pins. Switch can fit into outemu socket.
Would the backlighting options be saved when the computer is shut down and then booted back up again? I once had a keyboard with a default lighting scheme that was very distracting, switched to a more nuanced lighting option, then when I started my computer up it went back to the distracting default lighting scheme.
How's the durability on the keycaps? I've gone through two keyboards and the paint on the edges of the S and D keys have started to wear out. Are they ABS (cheaper) or PBT (more durable)? What is the molding type (I'm probably seeking Double Shot if possible)?
I love reddragons keyboards, I just wish their software worked 😂
i've had this for about 3 years and broke one switch so far but i really wanna try modding it... do you think it's a good idea? would it be fine to use your other redragon keyboard modding video to do so?
edit: so i've had this keyb for 3 years and didnt even know it had the legs to have it stand up at an angle? goddamn XD thank you
Done
I’ve been trying to build a budget PC for a while now and getting this keyboard would help me out a ton. Have a great day!
Done. Thanks for the opportunity!
How are the keycaps on these things as for as longevity is concerned? A big weakness of the budget keyboards seem to be the poor quality keys. I've heard of some that rub off after just a few months. Meanwhile my ancient Logitech G15 has some chipping, but that's after over 10 years. And it doesn't have fancy BPT keys.
Done.
Thanks for the great reviews.
RIP he forgot to put the link to the redrawing UA-cam channel. Been subbed to the second channel since he posted his UA-cam story tho.
I just saw the video and was wondering about that because I saw the link.
Thanks for fixing it so quickly!
Do not be fooled by its looks, for its a great keyboard, and from mine, has good stabilizers, which all sound great except the backspace, but apart from that, it’s worth every penny :)
Done!
the keyboard looks solid 👌🏻
Sick!
I don't really know much when it comes to mechanical keyboards but should I get the k556 or k569?
Done! Its a bummer they don't sell it yet in my country.
I took a shot every time he said REALLY. NOW I"M REALLY REALLY LIT!!!
Done
I hope you hit 100k subs soon dude, really deserving 🙌
So I got this keyboard a few weeks ago and mine has a detachable USB-C cable (and no, I didn't get the wireless version) and it was also advertised as being "YES! TRUE HOT-SWAP - The transformative innovation with 99.8%+ switches compatible..." Now I haven't tried to change the switches yet, but it seems like the board will fit 5-pin switches. Can anyone confirm this??
Done
I would love this because I am barely starting to get into the more serious gaming and this would help me start off on my journey
done!! Reallyyy want the keyboard and great video as alwaysss !!!!!!!!❤️❤️
Done i love your videos the video quality is linus tech tips quality you realy deserve way more subscribers
I came early and cool review
its solid guys
Great review and “done”
“Done”
Was already subbed to both Redragon and your 2nd channel.
I just bought this and it actually came as usb c detachable cord
What do you think of the redragon k580 vata pro with optical browns?
Excited to see your channel keep growing! Done
just want to ask which is better
redragon k556 or HyperX alloy origin core
"Done" I really love watching these videos man keep it up!
I order k552 after watching your review btw which one is better?
