At the time he was top scorer in the French league above neymar. He looked like Warnock’s ideal striker. Although maybe not a hardcore fan as a Cardiff supporter I find the whole thing tragic and a bit embarrassing and it almost hangs over the club with what could have been and how we continue to avoid paying
I went to the first Cardiff match after his passing, not a Cardiff fan, but lived there for 10 years and liked going to matches on occasion, genuinely brought me to tears with the outpouring of emotions from the fans, makes you realise some things are more important than football
It’s even more sickening the fact that the agents and the pilot were in on it together. Talking about this yesterday in Maqwell’s server, there’s a few things to be highlighted in the crash. - The pilot DIDN’T have a commercial license, so he was not to take a passenger on board his aircraft for any sort of financial retribution, yet he did so anyway. - The pilot was also colorblind, which prevented him from making any night flights at all. - The pilot (and this is important) expressed in a Facebook post hours before the flight that he was a bit rusty on the ILS system of the airplane. Basically, for all you sane people out there, the ILS is the landing system and the flying mode that pilots use whenever there’s no visibility or no landmarks to guide them (basically this situation, as the flight would take them over sea and it was nighttime… and the pilot was colorblind). It was revealed that near Guernsey, Ibbotson KEPT trying to stay under VFR (Visual Flight Rules) despite the weather not being suited for that, which eventually resulted in the crash BECAUSE Ibbotson’s IFR (Instrumental Flight Rules) type rating had expired by that point. - Maintenance was also negligent, as both bodies were found to have been affected by carbon monoxide poisoning. MEANING basically it leaked into the cabin on flight. CO poisoning affects one’s ability to make choices, and could lead to seizures and death. THIS ALSO MEANS had the flight gone smoothly, there’s a chance Sala could’ve arrived at least sick, at most, dead. There are a lot of dodgy things in this case. Sending him on the earliest EasyJet/RyanAir flight probably would’ve been a better choice - but why in the fuck did Cardiff City not arrange something DECENT and PRIVATE, you know, being a multi-million pound institution?! Sala was, sadly, fucked from start to finish.
Thankyou for making this video, a heartbreaking story that I wish would get talked about more often. Emiliano sala will be remembered for all our lives Im sure he's got a comfy seat in heaven.
From another Cardiff fan, I remember the horrible feeling of watching the news coverage along with all other football fans. It was just this acute sense of hopelessness - and the situation was like a bad joke, how something like this could ever happen or be allowed to happen. The facts of the agents, the pilot, the Piper Malibu, of course that stuff is out there and the only conclusion I can draw is that my club needs to do the right thing which is to at commence payments. EMI WAS OUR PLAYER. Even if he never played for us, he was a bluebird. I don't mind if the folks running the show want to bring legal proceedings against whatever insurers were involved, which I heard was happening, but surely it's a moral (as well as a contractual obviously) obligation to pay Nantes immediately.
This style of video from you is class, very informative, easy to follow and done with the utmost respect. You should do more of these because i believe you would do stories similar to this justice.
Vizeh thank you for uploading that Emiliano Sala video. I remember watching that on TV when I was 11 and it was one of the most tragic moments I have ever seen. RIP.
Im a Bristol city fan and Cardiff city are our rivals but this was tragic. I still despise Cardiff ofc but it's just so sad to see. Rest in peace milli
This might be odd but I remember using him in fifa that week and had my best weekend league finish ever still haven’t done that well since his fifa card brought me so much joy during that time. It really is sad what greed had to play in this
Still can't get my head around the fact that all this money was floating around this deal and yet the player was literally force to jump on an aircraft that was like something out of the 1920's with an unqualified pilot to rub it in more, an absolute shambles of an arrangement all fuelled by greed, may they both rest in peace and the likes never happens again
Hey man I’m loving the more documentary style videos. I think your really carving your own style out now instead of the cookie cutter Fifa videos 5 million UA-camrs do (of course there’s a few gems in that number)
To think what could've been if he didn't sadly pass, murdered by his own greedy football agent. I hope we do pay whatever money we are forced to pay but I hope this money will go directly to Sala's family and charities and not to Nantes. Its also a shame that this whole situation did not only kill Sala and the pilot, but the resulting debarcle may also kill Cardiff as our board will simply not pay up and we're skint as it is. A horrible problem that will be a stain upon our club and sport for years to come
I've always seen this as a sad accident which took the life of an aspiring Prem player. However, after seeing yours and Rabona TV's video, it's pretty obvious that this death is due to sheer greed. Its sad that 2 lives were taken just because one man wanted his cash a few hours early.
Tbh its disgusting. Not only what was in the video, but also some of the comments adding extra detail. It's disgraceful. This isn't about football: this is about a person's life. Or rather, how greed murdered a man with a bright future. Fucking sad how they only got 18 months. Should be bare minimum a murder sentence
Bruh if I'm scared to go on a plane that someone has set up for me, I don't care whether I'm literally "worth £20m" or not, I'm booking an economy class ticket and making my own way there like a normal person and then living out the rest of my life in peace. Having said that though, this was a hard moment in the footballing world. And for the families of both Emiliano Sala and David Ibbotson. I've not forgotten their names yet and I hope to not for a long while. Poor dudes. 😢
I think Cardiff should pay the £5.3 million but the two families should get a cut of the money for all the hardship they have received over the lad 3 years.
to be honest i believe that nantes should get the money but i dont think cardiff should have to pay because cardiff didnt get the player but nantes did lose the player however i do think that the families should get compinsation for i tbut unfortunately that wont happen due to how money hungry football is now. its tragic what happened to the families but i doubt they will get anything
I would have thought that for any multi million transfer at this day and age, and at this level of football, the Prem, considered the best league in the world, there would have been some kind of insurance policy taken out for players being flown all around the world. This particular transfer seems so Mickey Mouse compared to what we usually see during the transfer window. Existence or lack of an insurance policy here, probably would and should affect the disputed transfer payment. After all, if Nantes or Cardiff received any insurance payout after the tragic losses in this terrible accident, then that needs to be declared in my opinion.
It's a little bit complicated and I can see why Cardiff didn't want to pay. They didn't receive the product they bought, thus why they wanted to opt out of the deal. Sad thing, but that's who footballers are: A PRODUCT, a MERCHANDISE. The sooner people realise what has became of football, the better it will be and maybe people will start boycotting this shit show? It's not Cardiff fault the airplane crashed and people on board died.
The thing is once a contract has been signed and a transfer has been completed, regardless of whether they got their product or not they still have to pay the amount stated in the contract. I can't understand how this whole saga is still going on tbh, I don't see how they have a leg to stand on. Yes it wasn't their fault but he was still technically their player.
@@knoxy6884 tbh, a contract signed doesn't mean much when you haven't registered the player yet. We have seen many instances where we had players signing contracts in front of the press and moments later, some other clubs stole them away (ie; John Obi Mikel). Hence why clubs waited until the player actually is officially registered as their "staff" for them to finally pay the agreed fees.
@@zebimicio5204 Although the player wasn't registered with the EPL he was still registered as a Cardiff player and that is all that matters in a court of law. That is why Cardiff have been unsuccessful claiming that arguement. The situation with Mikel was certainly a strange one but from what I remember Man Utd were very underhanded in their approach to sign him as he had signed an agreement without representation so I question the legitimacy of that contract. However I think Chelsea were lucky to reach a settlement with Utd as I'm unsure how that would have played out in court.
bro just pay, his life is worth more than that amount of money so why not just pay. I’d understand if you don’t have that amount of money at the time, but you do. This is all so sad
This is always such a sad story and it is hard to think about what happened as a welsh person. On the financial side cardiff are in a lot of debt which is a big reason why they are not paying.
