- Happy Friday! I hope you like this episode making a fresh healthy summer salad in my home in Tuscany, Italy. Kylie, Ignore those Sad Sack Trolls sitting in isolation. They just have low self-esteem and think cyberbullying is OK when it is not. My Yorkshire Nanna used to say to me "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me". I love the work you have done in the kitchen. I came across your channel only a couple of weeks ago and the first one I watched was your tile painting episode. Then I saw the choc chip cookie vlog and am enjoying this one making a salad. A little tip: never put your good knife in the dishwasher...the heat will make the blade blunt...wash in cold water...then it will stay sharp!!!

Do you mean financially support this woman as she lounges in a Tuscan house, picks her own vegetables and makes a salad in front of a camera? I'm a working girl, like a million other working girls - in an office from 9 to 6 pm after taking the subway and bus every morning just to get to the office! Why would I support a young woman so that she can pick vegetables, film herself and make salads?!? It's a fantasy life! I live a real life. Plus, no mention of COVID 19 and the ravages it unleashed on Italy only months ago?? I'm sorry, but this is not realistic, she wants to live in a dream world financed by strangers.

I’ve stumbled upon your channel and in just a few videos I’ve realized how unfulfilling life is in America. The depth of your spirits has ignited this life that I’ve been missing. There clearly is more to life than the rat race hamster wheel way. All of the textures, colors, life, nature, views, even to the birds chirping in your videos has inspired me to search for more LIFE!

Agree life is mundane in Canada. Very suburban, mall and car culture and unfriendly people. Just reserved politeness. The beauty is rugged but far away from enjoying it. Tough living not romantic and fresh like Italy or rest of much of Europe.

I couldn’t agree more! I am an Italian American who got stuck in South Carolina when my father got transferred here for work when I was a toddler. I spent summers with my grandparents. I learned a lot from my Nonna. Her side of the family never came to the US. I really have decided to start studying my Italian again during this quarantine so when things get better I can plan my trip to Italy. For now, I have to live vicariously thru UA-camrs like Kylie

Here I am, commenting again. I have never done this - it’s out of my comfort zone. But I see your posts about donations. And it occurred to me that you might be able to make extra $$$ by putting together e-books and uploading them to amazon kindle. Recipe books, beautiful photography, living in italy, your poems, a novel. I am broke, living month to month, but at a low and affordable price I would certainly be a buyer, many times over. Kylie, I appreciated the tip about chopping the onion in larger pieces and the broccoli in smaller pieces so they're done at the same time. My brain needs those details. I can almost feel the warmth of the Tuscan sun through your window. You do a nice job of editing (like the music added when you tossed your salad).

Hi Kylie. Congratulations on reaching 100k subscribers! That's a great accomplishment! The first 100k is the toughest and I expect that you will reach 200k much sooner than you think. I loved the salad. I just bought an air fryer to heat or roast vegetables too. I don't think the finished product will be any better than using an oven, but it saves a little work. Preheating an oven has never filled me with hope. It usually fills me with dread since I know that I am likely to burn myself in the near future. :-) This video seemed to be a little more raw than usual (for you). When you said, "can you see me?" or "where is the colander?" it reminds us (the viewers) that the process of filming these videos is not always a smooth one. It also occurred to me that I don't think I've ever seen you post any bloopers. You strive for beauty in your finished product and bloopers might seem to be the antithesis of that, but many UA-camrs add them at the end simply because they are funny and people enjoy them. You have a very cute personality and seeing you flub a line or two will only add to that cuteness. In addition to being funny, they also remind me that the perfect video I just watched sometimes required more than one take and didn't always go as smoothly as you planned. Don't discard all of those gems. They will only make us smile even more. :-)

I made this salad for dinner tonight and it was life changing. No exaggeration. I used broccoli rabe but cooking it in the oven with fresh lemon and garlic gave it a whole new taste. I eat salads every evening so finding a new approach that was so thoroughly rewarding and enjoyable is the best. THANK YOU ☺️

Just got our flight to Italy for September! I am moving back to Sicily with my husband (from Catania) after a few years in the US. We came for work, but the call to go back is just too strong! : ) Your videos have really helped me be less nervous about moving back there, even though I have lived there for 6 years in Florence and 3 in Barcelona already! But still it is scary moving and starting over again and so thank you for these inspiring videos that remind me why I want to go back whenever I am feeling like it is an unreachable dream to return. Because of our circumstances the Italian consulate has granted me the ability to come to Italy despite the travel ban, though we will be quarantining after! Looking forward to trying this dish with Italian ingredients soon! : ))

Hi Kylie! I love the salad. I'm a salad monster. I eat salads every day. Love vegetables. I've been bored with them lately but I think it's because I eat all of the veggies raw. I will start roasting my vegetables as you have done. That sink is just gorgeous and there is nothing better than a sink with a drain in the corner as opposed to in the middle of the surface. It's much more functional especially for people who love to cook!
Every time I see you post videos, I literally prepare "what will I do while I watch Kylie's video"?? I create an environment to watch you. I agree 100% on raw onions. I can't digest them for hours but I like them caramelized.
Had to pause halfway, Kylie, to say don't let the haters get you down. The internet is a nasty space at times but this is your corner of it, your house and none of us would tolerate people coming into our homes and insulting us, so why allow it here? Delete delete Delete! I have watched videos of people with whom I would disagree but I have never left an unkind comment. Why would I? I can just go elsewhere. Bottom line -- that kind of acting out is all about the person hiding behind a keyboard and not about you. I know you know this but I thought I'd remind you. And yes- re broccoli, it is helpful to be reminded of the simple things. Now, back to this lovely salad which I will probably recreate for dinner tonight!

I’ve always thought of personal UA-cam videos like inviting someone into your home for a free meal - even if you don’t like the meal, you’re in someone’s home and they’ve made an effort for you so it’s just polite to thank them for the act of sharing rather than critique them on every pedantic detail. Rinse your onions in cold water and this will dampen that bite.

The food has my mouth watering! I think we did this 5-step idea as well, with flavor pops & texture variety in Moroccan tagine - definitely with the lemon and salty olives. Every bite is a different surprise. You are right, it's fantastic. This video is inspiring me to take that to more dishes. The kitchen is stunning! Here in the Chicago suburbs where kitchens have cold stainless steel (mine, too), I'm here Googling Bompani copper appliances, old stone sinks, rustic wood, burnished metal details, faucets with soul. Why shouldn't our homes feel like vacation every day? I also love the sienna and ochre colors of Tuscany, Morocco, India. Warm and inviting in a kitchen.
I discovered your channel just yesterday and I instantly feel a connection! I also have Mediterranean (Greek, Lebanese and Palestinian) roots but I'm Austrian. Here I feel like here no one gets how much I love salads. They think that this is a "diet thing". But seriously especially in summer when it is hot, and vegetables are in season and bursting with flavours I will gladly eat salad for lunch and dinner. There is nothing better than a good crispy salad with a fantastic tangy dressing. Another favourite dinner would be watermelon and feta.
