We got together with Taylor from Best Damn EDC to see how well people are prepared to tackle some basic and not so basic EDC tasks😁. Let us know how you think you would have done!
ZAC, this was ABSOLUTELY GENIUS!
Taylor’s wife gave us the inspiration I just transformed it from toddlers to men with tools🤣
You guys posted at the same time! Who’s do I watch first?!
But seriously, I love the content, keep it up!
Thank you, and you’re welcome for the idea 😂
@@zacinthewildI love this interaction.... this... Banter!
What size was that hex?
I suppose I could have gotten it with pliers or Vice Grip. However , I frequently work with, on, and or around vehicles and EDC a 7, 8, 10 mm and a 13mm deep.
really fun idea!
The concept of the Preparenator is awesome. It could become a returning thing for conventions. For the next iteration it would be cool to add a few tasks like igniting something, saw/cut through a pvc pipe, remove/cut a nail, pierce a hole in something in a kind of precise way.
They’d have to put a limit on it at some point, otherwise it’d eventually become “rebuild this engine” or “build a house”. Lol
Thanks for having me on Zac it was great meeting you, also sorry for bleeding all over the preparonator 3000 Lol
Just showed you were in it to win it!💪😁
Yo this was so much fun!!! I’m Lane, I was so happy to meet you Zac, definitely my favorite knife guy on UA-cam. Also, happy news!!! I found my flashlight that I had lost 😂🎉
Yes! So glad to hear man🤘. That Fenix E12 is a boomerang it always comes back!
@@zacinthewild Amen man 🤣
So glad we got to do this video together and thanks for absolutely knocking it out of the park with the Preparonator 3000 🤘🏻
Loved how the last guy was the only one to complete the entire challenge!! Taylor's wife came in clutch with that idea! Props to everyone that didn't mind dulling their blades!
Damn….note..don’t read comments mid vid anymore 😒
Here is a list of 10 items to add (posted 2 days ago but apparently censored for some unknown reason so I will try again)
1. Make 3 cuts on galvanized chain link fence wire to prove you could cut your way out (many tools fail after 1 cut)
2. Candle: light it
3. Can opener: save some empty clean food cans and cut a couple of inches open on the bottom.
4. Clean small dab of honey off of board to simulate bad day in toilet that had no Toilet Paper.
5. Show dressing you would use to cover large knife wound on shoulder.
6. Spork test: bring small cooler with dry ice and have them take a scoop of hard frozen ice cream out of container into a small dixie cup and eat it without making a mess (no cheap plastic spoons need apply)
7. Spare battery/cables: start recharging your phone
8. Cordage test: show what you would use to tie up your quarter panel on your car to get home if someone hit it in the parking lot and it was rubbing on your tire.
9. Credit card failure: show at least $100 emergency cash
10. Point in the direction of North (compass test)
😂😂
I can do 10/10
Thanks Zac for letting me do the cutting challenge! It was super fun, also tell Worksharp I said thanks for the new sharpener! It’s awesome.
Note to the viewing public. The 2 most common torx sockets are T15 and T25. I don't edc those, but I have a 100pc security bit kit in one of my tool bags. Those are the ones that get the most action. The T6 and T8 are very, very tiny.
no its t10 and t20
@@SuperDeinVadda i see T25 all the time on M8 screws and t15 on M6
I don't normally carry torx, but I just received my Leatherman Arc yesterday, so with the mini bit kit it comes with I'll have a few torx bits on me. So far, I LOVE the Arc. Awesome video idea gentlemen. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think I'd have been able to get through each of those challenges with my Cary Commission bum bag full of goodies.
Such a fun idea for a video! Really enjoyed it 👍
Thanks! We had a blast on this one!
It was so cool being able to meet both you and Taylor and be part of this challenge video!
Same here!🤘
Old guy for the win!!! No torx EDC, just don’t run into it enough. I learned that a pen and scissors are almost the most useful.
🤘🤘
More examples of people using their stuff. This was awesome! Loved watching the different tools, techniques and methods people used to do the same job. Again, that was awesome!
Let’s go my two favorite knife, UA-camrs, in one video!!!
Oh yeah!😎
Taylor has a whole video with some crazy challengers as well! Check it out: ua-cam.com/video/-fAp_vBFuwM/v-deo.htmlsi=SNGSYbQ6x0wloPxH
Cool vid. If I had my backpack I'd get all the way through. That old Leatherman pinch is the worst! Lol.
The Leatherman pinch is the worst!😭
Zac , I’m loving this content 😊
Stuff is awesome 👏 and maybe try to convince Ben into making a Knaf folder in Magnacut 😅 🤫… that , will be my first Magnacut knife 🔪…
Very entertaining fellas. I Love seeing the different techniques and gear. Take care.
This was a BLAST!! Thanks so much for the opportunity!😁
Nuts guys; sick, and damn cool! Loved the idea, plus the presentation rocked. Well done.
I think the principle could be expanded to include to test other important items.
SCISSORS (rounding the corners of a 3"×5" index card while holding it in the air [because we can't always utilize a flat service to aid in cutting tasks].)
LASHING MATERIALS (two dowels to be lashed together with paracord, zip ties, etc [also note here knot-making efficiency; timed, and scored also on security of knots].)
FIRE (1. working lighter, or 2. tools adequate to throw sparks, plus tinder material on possession)
FILE (Round the sharp corner on a piece of metal.)
SAW (Saw through 1/2" dowel)
AWL (Bore a clean hole through a 1/2 sheet of wood.)
DRINKING CONTAINER, 16oz min.
POWER BANK with cableing.
NOTE-TAKING CAPACITY. (Pad of paper, etc.)
A MARKER (Test on wax paper)
1 LITER EXTRA CARRY CAPACITY (Any means of hands free storage capacity of a 1 liter item [as in extra room in a sling bag, etc].)
TWEEZERS (Pluck a pellet out of a hole too narrow for pliers)
INSET RATCHET NUT (most common sized nut very snugly tightened, PLUS inset, thus too awkwardly for pliers; rewards those carrying a mini ratchet set.)
These are just a few ideas, I'm sure innumerable other ideas exist.
Finally, weight all tasks numerically based on difficulty (maybe totalling 100), so that each contestant achieves a ranking based on their grand total.
Whether or not you choose include with the swag of prizes a leather bound, signed "Preparonator Certificate of Excellence" for those scoring over, say, 75 points, is completely up to you. :-)
I had a similar list of 10 items to add that apparently got censored for some unknown reason..... sigh.....
I'm sorry; you put a lot of thought into your message for it not to show up. :-(
@@MitchSniderI'm sorry; you put a lot of thought into your message for it not to show up. :-(
This was a great idea and a brilliant video. Epic collaboration!
And I would have been ready for everything except the T6 and T8 screws. After all, Zac is right; it's weird to carry those every day. Other than that, a Leatherman Free P4, flashlight, pen, and Knipex are always on me, and could totally handle the Preparonator 3000!
I have a modded free P4 with Zapwizard’s bit driver. I could get the T6/T8 screws with it.
I want to make a home version of this test and run my Swiss Champ through it every morning as a training exercise.
Champ wouldn’t complete all the challenges?
I like the champ, but it would not get it done.
Fantastic, I love this, please do it more often, I will watch every one you make.
I was so entertained by this and can't believe I haven't seen it done before.
So all we really need is a Leatherman of some sort with bit driver kit and the small knippex pliers.
Honestly with that load out you’d be ready for 99% of what life might throw at you on the go😁. Of course knowing how to do/fix stuff makes it more useful.
@@zacinthewild"If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy." 😅 🔴🟢
@@matthewhebbert9712Red Greene is my hero.
I'd have passed with flying colors. Always carry the Milwaukee 1505, Leatherman Charge TTI, Knipex 4", Sharpie and or pen and a small flashlight. This was a cool idea guys, great video collaboration!
On the Swiss Army knife, if they had used the bottle cap opener, the large blade, and the Swiss body simultaneously, they could have cut that wire like butter without damaging the blade.
Or they could just have used the can opener ;-)
Great idea!! Awesome video as always🤙
Two Zac in yhe Wild episodes in one week?!? Thats the dream!
Best blade show video out there. The best moment for me was when George pulled out his literal lightsaber from his pocket and blinded everyone around 😂
Such a fun video, fun to see people use their gear, ad a wooden dowel to saw though next time 😂
Awesome idea guys, resulting in a really entertaining video. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This was really fun to watch. You guys rock!
I walk around dreaming of the day when someone asks me if I can complete all of the tasks on the Preparinator board. :)
Such a fun watch. Saw this happening in background of other video and been excited for the release 👌thank you
Love that we spread the chaos🤣🤣
This was awesome. I think I would manage all except the torx bits part. Maybe even that by forsing a tiny flathead in there :D
This was awesome! Great idea, guys.
Need to do pocket dumps followed by a version of this every time. 👍
Another great show video, well done fellas!
That was cool, entertaining as heck 👍
Im the knife guy at work. I trim trees and have to sharpen, fix pivots or knife centering everyday. A torx kit is a necessity. I could have ran the gambit.
New to the channel as of this week and I'm addicted! This particular video was so satisfying!
Thanks for the great content!
I am so ready for y'all if you ever stop me at a show! Also, Sam and his Gstor making short work of that rope!
You guys are awesome! What a cool challenge.
Thanks! We had a blast!
Awesome idea Mrs EDC! Now I know if there was any doubt I will have to carry me Leatherman to Blade Show when I can make it lol.
I really enjoyed that thank you guys great job❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
that's cool, looks fun too. torx all day every day [LM bit kit and Kershaw TX Tool].
i would have completed all the tasks with my EDC :-]
that last dude reminds me of my buddy Tony
Excellent video!!
Fantastic video!!
Great video. Makes ya rethink my edc carry
LOVE that idea!!
I loved this. Congrats.
I love they used the TJ Schwarz overland in this test! I have the mini and love it!
Terrific idea ! Fun video with a quarter master at the end.
I believe that was one of, if not the best things ive seen at a blade show. That's what i call, thinking outside the (box) pocket. 👍
Genius, more of these please
Great episode!
So much fun to watch..!
What SICK prizes man. I 100% would be able to complete this. My EDC is simple, but would crush this
I really love this concept, maybe have a suggestions post/video for the next version, obviously don’t announce which tests will be included.
Making a connection for a wiring circuit, crimping a connector, removing a nut/bolt with limited access, opening/closing a bleed valve.
Showing a selection of materials and asking (for example) how would you make a sawzall handle with your edc? Show the tools they would use and describe method. It’s alright having tools but can you solve problems with them?
Deduct points if they have titanium, They don’t have duct tape on them, colour matched tools, anything that has tactical in its name, anyone who says loadout who cannot prove he/she is (ex) military, pointless lanyards, fidget toys, any toys at all, patches on their pouches or bags, instantly disqualified if they say I usually carry … damn I rotated that out of my edc.
Awesome idea...made me rethink my edc for sure
Best Dam Idea i have seen for a video on these blade shows!!!😄
Niiiice! Loved the guy at the end!!!
I really enjoyed seeing some real-world tool usage. I am honestly surprised at how many people didn't pass this. I mean you don't have to carry much to have those basics covered. More of this!
That was fun to watch.
It was interesting to see how many people carry but don't know how to use.
Or when to use what.
I carry a couple torx in my Leatherman but I think it’s time to up my game! This was awesome!
Definitely started something new! Go crazy with that idea 💡
OMG who is that guy who went the distance!!!!??!?!! he is my idol.
Bro had been waiting for this moment his whole life and did not let us down!
@@zacinthewildwhat is the name of the tool at 15:02
If I were at a Blade Show, this is what I would love to see for pure excitement and joy.
That was a great video thanks
This was perfect! Love this. I would have failed the nut/bolt combo. Also I do not have torx on body carry. My bit kit would've been in my go bag which would've been in my Jeep for the event
This is the best EDC type video I've seen in such a long time. I love what Zac in the Wild is producing! I'm burnt out of the typical "knife review" type videos. You should grab a couple sponsors and put together your own booth next year!
Wow really cool guys and great idea
Love it. Interactive.
Coming from Best Damn EDC’s video!!! Love your guys content!!!!
That was a fun challenge! Wish I'd been there to participate! I would have been more than prepared with just what I carry every day. Just my little Leatherman Micra would have taken care of most of that!
Great idea! Would love to see a return of this next year with different/ more ideas, sourced from comments maybe?
What kind of EDC knife and tool enthusiast doesn't carry at least a T6/T8?!?! 😂 😉
Great video! Looks like a great time. 🎉
love yo vids brudda
I would have cleared all but the torx part. Great idea!
Very cool video! I would have had them all except for the nut/bolt combination. Even the torx! I actually just added those to my EDC yesterday. Have had the bits for a while but hadn't reworked the tool pouch to include them until yesterday. If I'd happened to carry two multi-tools then maybe the nut/bolts could have happened but I don't usually carry two.
hmmm... I take that back. I might have been able to do the nut/bolt thing. My pry tool has a spot for using as a wrench. So if it were the right size and I used that plus the pliers on my multi-tool I think maybe I'd get them all!
That was fun!!
I want to come to one of these shows and bump into you guys! I would love to walk around a building with all these amazing people! Love the EDC community
that edc test is brilliant
amazing Idea!
and you even give them neat presents
wish I would be there >)
Stay safe
This is an awesome idea.
Such a good idea guys, I love it. I probably wouldn’t have gotten very far at all if I were there at the show, I would have left most tools at home to make more room for carrying knives.😂
Carry a worksharp micro pocket sharpener, it comes with a built in bit holder and torx bits
That was very cool 👌👌
OSHA called.....they want to see you in their office! Great video and fun times!!!
I love this idea! You could maybe even add a precision task and a heavy duty task. Like something minuscule you have to manipulate and then pulling a 16 penny nail. And a first aid task😂
I probably would have done ok. A really fun watch
Great concept and video
God bless😅
This was so fricken cool!
Amazing fun video. And Torx everyday. I work on pc's and laptops, so I always end up needing my T's!
I EDC a bit pen with a double torx in the back t6 and t8, all I need lol.
I have the rovyvon keychain carabiner with both of those torx and the scaple blade
Funny video idea!
If I were at that show my normal edc would be a SAK super Tinker, I would also have my alpaca pouch with my cobra xs, fisher space pen and Fast back 1505, rovyvon A7. So I would be covered on the whole board. This episode was a ton of fun
Enjoyed that. Peace from Scotland
Not having a flashlight was a bummer 😅. I use my knife and flashlight more than any of my other edc. Brilliant test also!
