Jennifer Kelman he still is even in his 60's sure he improvises some solos here and there but that's lynch for ya always experimenting and nothing wrong with that. His kxm stuff is killer! I hope i look as good and play as good as he does when im at 60!
My opinion is if the classic line up decides to do more reunion shows, then Jeff needs to step up to the mic, and let Don play bass and harmonized with Jeff. I believe people would be happy with that.
I was there! At the Strand in Redondo Beach, ca 1995. Was a gift from my brother in law.....a limited engagement,it wasn't even advertised in normal circles! He called me up and asked me if I wanted to go see Dokken and I was like,dude they broke up! They aren't together anymore.....he said thats not what I said lol. So we went. And let me tell you this video doesn't do the atmosphere at this gig justice! It was magical! And we were right in front of George Lynch! It was epic
Jeff is without a doubt one of my favorite musicians of all time. He plays a number of instruments extremely well and he is an absolute fantastic vocalist. I could listen to this guy sing all day.
My favorite member as well. Kept the peace, played a killer support role, wrote or co-wrote my favorite songs of theirs…he’s awesome. Loved seeing him in Foreigner a few years ago, still being the best “hype man” bass guitarist.

This is JEff Singing lead in this video, if you don't realize this, you haven't a clue. Dokken was a great band, the problem is Don is the biggest douche ever, Saw him a couple years ago and he just could not sing. Tried to blame it on the Coach house's Tech. I've seen hundreds of live shows and many *0s bands who have toured in the past 5 or 10 years. He's the only singer I can not find a fucking good thing to say about. And in this version, Don is definitely not singing. Don can't sing shit

It was a warm up show for the 6 show tour they did in Japan. I had a great day and a lot of fun at that show. It was rough, for sure and Don's voice was suffering, but everybody in the audience sang every word to every song and marveled at Lynch and Pilson, even when he had to start Paris is Burning 3 times, and it was AWESOME!!! I'm sure some don't see it that way, because it wasn't all polished and perfect, but I do. It was more like we were all just hanging out with our favorite band from the eighties. I was 10 or 12 feet from George Lynch playing all those old tunes! Great day!
There wouldn’t be a dokken without Don cause he hired the rest of the members like a band for his solo carrer and breaking the chains was the first album from his ”solo” carrer but it changed after that album.
Donald had a great band with amazing talent.. Pilson on backing vocals carried a lot of the vocal weight. I heard Dons singing voice is completely gone and he acts like it’s the sound guys fault or the mic /PA equipment while performing. No bueno. Own your stuff, Donald.. the fans deserve it

saw Dokken open for KISS on Tooth N Nail tour, Jeff Pilson was epic, could not take my eye off him, what an amazing talent, thank you Jeff and all of Dokken , members for all the great music on the first 4 ep/lp....... it will live forever....
All really good live bands needed at least two lead singers. One was the frontman, the others were the anchors of the vocals. Those bands were, and are, the best live ones.

Absolutely correct! Lennon/McCartney! The Eagles! Chris Fucking Squire of Yes! Those are THE BEST bands. For me the #1 thing that sets a band apart, especially live, is quality backing vocals. Pilson is up there with the very best.
Ive interviewed Jeff. Besides being an amazing talent, he's an incredibly affable and likable guy! He even called me back the next day to see if I needed more info for my piece! If 17 year old me back in the 80's could have seen the future to me looking at my cell phone showing "Jeff Pilson Calling" I wouldn't have believed it.

I remember reading that Don Dokken had some sort of vocal chord surgery somewhere around the 80's. Still I think he had a very limited voice range even on a good day. Musically speaking, the Lynch, Pilson and Brown trio had some real heavy chord structures, very melodic hooks, and Don's voice was always a bad counterweight.

And I remember disputing that.
George has stated in many interviews that Don was not a very good singer until he came into his own on the Tooth and Nail album. I remember having all the Dokken records as a kid. On vinyl.
I’ve seen dokken every time they come to Buffalo they’re one of my favs if not thee fav and usually nobody can ever replace an original singer but after listening to JP man I gotta just say WOW!
Dokken should have had Jeff Pilson sing a few songs or he could've sung more backup vocals and harmonizing parts, it would have made Dokken more Dynamic as a band.
Nearly all of the harmonies, especially the high stuff, on all Dokken recordings - was Jeff singing. Listen to the original demo of “Dream Warriors” here on UA-cam where he sings lead and dubs in the harmonies, and you’ll be able to hear his contribution to the final recording. The high melody voice in the chorus for “In My Dreams” is him. Don is doing falsetto in that harmony. The body of the sound in that song’s chorus is coming from Jeff’s voice, with Don and Mick harmonizing over him.

Jeff has that range still to this day, and Don just cannot do it anymore. I mean Don can still sing, but not in that high falsetto anymore. I will say the tables have turned, and Don harmonizing with Jeff would be awesome!
Jeff is a really cool guy and very talented. I used to talk to him via email at the Dokken site a fee years ago. Never showed any ROCK start ego and as a matter of fact he down to earth all the time. Good song, good band (that version) and George Lynch still one of the best guitarist out there.

I’ve seen dokken every time they come to Buffalo they’re one of my favs if not thee fav and usually nobody can ever replace an original singer but after listening to JP man I gotta just say WOW!

Dokken should have had Jeff Pilson sing a few songs or he could've sung more backup vocals and harmonizing parts, it would have made Dokken more Dynamic as a band.

Nearly all of the harmonies, especially the high stuff, on all Dokken recordings - was Jeff singing. Listen to the original demo of “Dream Warriors” here on UA-cam where he sings lead and dubs in the harmonies, and you’ll be able to hear his contribution to the final recording. The high melody voice in the chorus for “In My Dreams” is him. Don is doing falsetto in that harmony. The body of the sound in that song’s chorus is coming from Jeff’s voice, with Don and Mick harmonizing over him.
That’s exactly what he did in Dokken. Everything you just mentioned. He’s quite amazing!

Jeff Pilson is a all around Musician and has a great voice that serves these Dokken songs almost as well as Don's Voice !! Which is now gone (Don's Vocal's) to our disappointment . Rockin With Dokken till the Day I die ...
Jeff with this performance has proved his worthiness as one of the premier voices in classic rock. Unbelievably powerful my friend!!! If you listen close you can hear reverberated two tone sequential retro sequences. Spot on my friend!!!

Jeff has that range still to this day, and Don just cannot do it anymore. I mean Don can still sing, but not in that high falsetto anymore. I will say the tables have turned, and Don harmonizing with Jeff would be awesome!

Jeff is a really cool guy and very talented. I used to talk to him via email at the Dokken site a fee years ago. Never showed any ROCK start ego and as a matter of fact he down to earth all the time. Good song, good band (that version) and George Lynch still one of the best guitarist out there.
