Those 2 Cybertron games are incredible. It’s a crime we don’t have them at 60fps on modern consoles. Also the FoC soundtrack is so damn good
I remember I was top 10 in the world in team death match on PS3 leaderboards for War of Cybertron for a hot minute, one of my favorite online games playing with my bros.. we f'd shyt up in that game. I was a top Optimus Prime build, no one could touch me. I would die if that game ever got a remake. So underrated. Hopefully they make a new game that lives up. My brother was just talking about it the other day. Epic game.
@@ReadyPlayerTomVR nice, i liked the multiplayer alot and regret that I didn’t play alot of it though
That's what emulators are for.
There is a multiplayer mod now.
@@donovanblackwelder4301why use an emulator when you could just play the PC port? these games don't work well on Xenia or RPCS3.
We need more Transformers games. It’s a shame we can’t play the old games anymore.
You can actually if you have a pc
Yes u can lol buy a ps3 or Xbox 360
@@joem4021 true since I have it on my Xbox 360
I hate modern gaming and licencing. That's why you can't get Transformers, Deadpool, 007 games...
@@elidasilva5558 you can still get Deadpool
I loved Transformers Devastation, the combination of Platinum Games and Transformers Generation 1 was just genius (Transformers Generation 1 was my absolute favourite, I ADORE the original 80's show, it's so iconic)
I want a x-men game like that game
Honestly the games older ports are honestly kinda impressive how they managed to make it kinda feel like the new ports
High Moon also did the Dark of the Moon game on PS3/360. It’s the only movie game I somewhat enjoyed even with all the flaws and glitches which really felt like Activision was pressuring them to finish it and ship it as is.
The Multiplayer was so much fun. I played it religiously when it came out
But history is great
They actually had to develop both Fall of Cybertron and DotM at the same time. DotM had a stricter deadline so that one suffered a bit.
Fall of cybertron is one of my favorite games of all time. The multiplayer was really fun and the campaign was just an incredible thrill ride of a story. I wish I still had my copy of the game
I still have my copy of fall of cybertron but not war of cybertron
Every once in a while i see em at a half price books :)
@@GlennG297 Other way around for me. I have WFC physically, but since I got FOC digitally on PC I can't play it anymore.
TF Devastation is pure action hack and slash fun, is that perfect mix between button mashing and actually complex combat to enjoy
Fall of Cybertron was so ahead of it’s time. Amazing story, multiplayer, soundtrack. Just so good
Wfc is better imo
War For and Fall Of are two of my favorite things in the entire franchise. I remember buying the War Within comic story as a kid and those were basically that but more fleshed out and on steroids.
It's such a shame these games are so expensive
You also missed transformers 2004 for PS2 which is insane to see ran on PS2 hardware. Also, Cybertron adventures on the Wii was pretty good.
I think this video is meant to be about movie games, since Rise of the Dark Spark combines WfC's and the movies timelines
@@groundedshikami6990 he had devastation tho
Transformers 2004 (Armada) was one of my favorite games! So dang good
There was also a Transformers Prime game on the Wii U
and Transformers Universe which was a MOTA created by Jagex (man I miss that game)
I’m an 80’s kid and G1 Transformers was hands down my favorite childhood toy. I was VERY jaded by the Michael Bay re-interpretation of the Transformers, so when War for Cybertron came out, I was overjoyed. It was the first Transformers ANYTHING since the 80’s that truly recaptured that G1 spirit. I cried the first time I played the game. Fall of Cybertron refined the formula to a sheen. Totally agree it’s the best Transformers game ever. I miss High Moon, and am forever grateful for them giving us those two special games.
As an 11 year old that was always looking at the back of game cases to see the size of games back in the day, i for some reason thought the more gigabytes a game had the better it would be. When I got a DS lite and got transformers 1 as a gift I saw it was only 400MB, so I thought it would be terrible and I never played it 🤣. Glad I learned that isn’t the case with games lmao
You was low key advanced for that as a kid I was just looking at art
When I was 11 we were still talking in blocks lol
That's funny because now I tend to associate great games with small file size. AAA games these days tend to be bloated and soulless monstrosities upwards of 150 gigs whereas virtually all of the modern creativity and inspiration comes from indie games which are routinely less than 1gb. Pretty impressive when you think about it.
Transformers 1 on the DS is awesome (especially the Decepticons versions), I dare say it's even better than the home console version since you don't even need to deal with human characters at all (so those that dislike the main human characters from the movie will have a better time on the DS).
Plus it was made by Vicarious Visions, the same guys that did the two excellent Crash Bandicoot platformers on the Game Boy Advance (Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure and Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced) as well as the great GBA versions of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2-4, and the two excellent remasters Crash Bandicoot: N-Sane Trilogy and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2.
@godless1014 For me, when I see games with 100GB+ file sizes, I usually get the impression that they are live service games that require constant updating, which isn't ideal for me since my internet is fairly basic by today's standard.
You should really check out Transformers for PS2. Not the movie tie-in. I think people forget about it because the movie game is also just called Transformers. It's unfortunate because imo it's the best Transformers game. It has some of my favourite boss fights of any game I've ever played. The helicopter boss on top of the Mayan ruins where he can literally throw you off the side and continue to fight you throughout the entire map blew my mind as a kid. Typically a fight like that you'd get thrown off and just die in other games but not this one. Then there's the giant ship that you infiltrate only for it to transform and chase you across islands as you run away and slowly chip down it's health. I'm rambling but this game deserves way more attention.
Yes that’s one of my favorite games on ps2! It’s based on Armada animated show and i believe that boss fight is Tidalwave
I grew up with that game. I always loved the titalwave fight, and I always panicked in the Mayan ruins because I tried so hard to not get spin thrown off the top of the temple!
The PS2 Armada game was awesome, especially the boss fights. I'll never forget playing through an entire warship level and then turning around and watching the whole thing transform into Tidal Wave.
The mobile RID game with the scannable toys was a great game too. One of the best beat em ups for mobile imo.
I loved a Transformers game on PS2 in 2004 that had Atari logo on cover. Transformers Armada: Prelude to Energon was alternative name I think. That was a good show too. Transformers Devastation by PlatinumGames was also cool. War and Fall of Cybertron wasnt bad either i dont think
That game was an absolute banger. I remember wasting so much time trying to 100% the game.
yeah guess it wasn't available in american market or matty genuinely forgot.
Finding minicons and using them as weapons! So good. Also fuck Starscream
@@DankerTVTimeCapsule it was bc im american. In america it just said transformers on the box even though was an Armada game. Idk why it didn’t have subtitle
It's energon, not energon.
War/Fall of Cybetron are the peak of transformers games! Will always remember playing fall and getting to play as Grimlock was Hype🔥
The "Reach #1 on the ranked leaderboards" achievement for Revenge of the Fallen was insane 😅
Only 1 person could get it!
Dark of the moon actually came out in 2011, after War for Cybertron in 2010. Activision split up High Moon into teams to work on Dark of the Moon and Fall of Cybertron. They were able to work on that using a lot of existing assists from previous games, while the main team focused on Fall of Cybertron in 2012, and then moved onto Deadpool.
War and fall hold such a special place for me, playing both of them from day 1, played nearly everyday for years and met so many amazing people during my teens years from these games. the wave of nostalgia i get everytime i think about those games is amazing.
Proud owner of both the deceptacon & autobots DS games 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
2004 transformer on the ps2 was so addicting to me 5-7 year old mind
Driving is great in High Moon games. High Moon made the Dark of the Moon Game too, that's why the driving is the same as it is in the Cybertron games and everything else.
Devastation's combat is so goddamn fun and memorable to me (as a DMC, MGR and bayonetta fan), and it's stuck in my head due to the sheer momentum and speed. One of my favorites growing up, and I'm so happy I got it from Fry's all those years ago. One of my favorite mechanics was those rush attacks, YOU CAN NEVER TELL ME DROPKICKING AT HIGH SPEED AIN'T THE SHIT
More games need dropkicks as a part of the moveset instead of a one off finisher
Also, it's ener-John. English being english ig
High Moon Studios were done so dirty with their Cybertron Series
I highly recommend trying the PS2 transformers game - the atari one based on the anime. I’m not a big transformers fan but I loved that game as a kid.
Same! Glad others loved it. Was such a good game
I'm shocked you didn't mention the Grimlock level in FoC where the game becomes a hack and slash. Probably one of my favorite missions in any game ever.
going with a gen 1 inspired art style for the cybertron games was such a genius move, it’s definitely one of the elements of the game’s presentation that really stands out. My dad was watching me play WFC a while back and noticed just how much it reminded him of the original anime series from the 80s when he was a kid
"METROPLEX, HEARD THE CALL OF THE LAST PRIME"
the chill going up my spine at this cene.
The Cybertron games were amazing. I got Fall of Cybertron around when it came out and then my PS3 stopped working. Never got to finished that game.
Transformers Armada video game on the PS2 was AMAZING.
Funnily enough I'm actually currently replaying WFC! They released some new toys based on the game which made me go back. I've modded it to uncap the FPS and am using reshade, and it looks gorgeous!
There's a community revival project which means that we can once again play multiplayer on ROTF, WFC and FOC, so huge shout-out to those guys for doing God's work 🙌🏼
oh sick really? is there a discord or something I can join to stay updated?
thanks for actually looking at the game manuals, I really miss those. Nice video
Fishing UA-cam for something good to come up. And you come through with the goods yet again my man.
Everything you do... Chefs kiss
This video totally reminded me of back in the day. I used to also do gameplay commentaries and was a Machinima Respawn Director as well if u remember even what that was lol. I did a ton of these videos back in the day for War and Fall of Cybertron, CoD, Homefront, Battlefield, Left 4 Dead and Red Dead Redemption. Those were the days!!!! It was a great time. I still play War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron from time to time. Thanks for making this vid and showing some love and YES, High Moon needs to make another, a true sequel!
Transformers the game was amazing back in the day, I used to play it all the time on my PS2, unfortunately I never could get past the hoover dam level, until I got the game on PS3 years later, the suburbs music while free roaming is just perfect, can't also forget about DOTM and the Cybertron games, wish they would remaster them.
Bro same hover dam was hard for my 5 yr old brain back then on ps2 when i got older i ended up getting it for ps3 and man it was a nostalgic playthrough
Beautiful time as always Matty cheers 💪🏻
I loved Transformers The Game as a kid, but I just played around as Bumblebee because he’s my favorite. I didn’t know you could even play as the deceptions until now.
Yea first decepticon you played was blackout lol
Dude. Thank you. I have been trying to find RotF for AGES, and whenever I did see gameplay, I just wrote it off because the HUD looks nothing like I remember, but as soon as I saw that city in the opening I knew it was the game. I haven't played this game in years. Again, thank you.
New sub to the channel and absolutely love the content man. Love all the enthusiasm and wholesome fun takes!
I had the original Transformers on the Ps2, and it just brings me back thinking about it. Thanks man!
Good timing since that new movie just came out. I remember playing the game based on the first Michael Bay film, and for someone who never grew up on mech games like Amored Core or MechAssuault, it was honestly very fun!
I wish he talked about the Transformers game on the PS2, the one that kinda looks like Armada, where you travel to the Amazon, Antarctica, etc.
I love that game, the minicom system was awesome, and everytime I replay it, it kinda kicks my ass at first.
Transformers armada 😩💦💦
One of the things you pointed out was the feature of "Switching on the fly" and how its on every back of the box, I went back and picked up my old copy of Transformers (2004) and looked at the back. Nothing saying you can switch in and out of vehicles, yet that has it and its probably one of the best Transformers game ever with MINICONS :O
That Transformers Armada game is goated
War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron are my two favorite Transformer games. Both the campaigns and the multiplayer modes were so fun when I was back on the Xbox 360!
Around the 18:00 mark, sir it is pronounced "Ener-john". Ya had it right not too long before that though.
the Cybertron games were the most fun I had online in a very very very long time. The multiplayer - running around maps and clicking a button to transform/movement speed was just untouchable. very fun combat.
Missing the best one on PS2 here
War and fall of cybertron will always be my favorite transformer games, they modernized the g1 characters so well and being able to experience more of the cybertronian War is always a plus in my book. My favorite character to play was combaticon vortex.
i wish for a double remaster of the cybertron games, they were so underrated and are probably the best transformers games were ever gonna get, but im hoping for reactivate to be good
LT accelerate and RS look are good controls because it’s a shooter with driving elements and vehicle strafing, like Halo. Also High Moon made Dark Of The Moon between the two Cybertron games but with less dev time than those
Good point, Strike Suit Zero uses the right bumper targeting lock on mechanics and uses the left stick to aim, which is awful but if you swap it works well.
I loved the OG movie tie-in game and the High Moon Cybertron games as a kid, they were my shit growing up and I'd play them constantly.
Something I wanna shout out that's not mentioned here are the DS games, specifically the first movie tie-in DS games. There was an Autobots and a Decepticons version, kinda like Pokémon where there's two versions of the same game, but I had a lot of fun with it. You had your own transformer and you could scan/transform into any vehicle within the game and I'd spend hours just pulling GTA style shenanigans as a Decepticon. No idea if they still hold up, but as a kid that probability didn’t know better and just loved Transformers no matter what I enjoyed them.
I’ve probably finished the WFC and FOC stories like 10 times each, so good
I absolutely love the first movie game it's so good, the little open world for each level was awesome, I used to play so much in just free roam
Been waiting on this one for so long...👍🏾👍🏾
Always excellent timing
I remember playing fall of cybertron on the ps3, I played through chapter 6 in one sitting, and then the disk broke, just infinitely stuck on a loading screen.
The thing about the High Moon Studios driving controls is they made 2 modes for vehicle mode. Combat and driving and to be honest, driving is secondary. You're really just using it to either drive in a straight line or escape the enemy in multiplayer. When you're mostly in combat mode, it makes sense for RT to be guns instead of drive.
War & Fall of Cybertron I love these games wish they would have done Part 3 where they landed in earth it would have been awesome end to a trilogy
I watched Muzzafuzza all the time, thanks for the throwback Matty.
Devastation and Turtles in Time are my two favorite games of all time. Nothing like a perfect button masher to give you that video game fix.
I finally played Devastation like a month ago and on PC to make it even better. It easily became one of my top 10 games after I finished. Thank you, Platinum.
Maaaan, i was looking forward to seeing you talk about the ps2 armada game, its such a classic
The final mission of Fall of Cybertron was just *chefskiss* superb! The idea to switch between almost all characters you played in the previous chapters sounds very gimmicky on paper and kinda risky if you don't pull it off well. But boy, did they deliver here. What a fantastic game for a old school TF fan. And War for Cybertron was great too.
You forgot to mention the absolute blast of a soundtrack.
Transformers the Game: I liked it. Wish i finished it. But I was s child when I got it so I've only ever reached the end of the dam map before getting to the city. So not a bad game but wasn’t really good.
Transformers Revenge of The Fallen: I will get it again. It wasn’t perfect. It was painful at times. But I fell in love with it when I saw people doing the multiplayer. Oh my GOD. It looked AMAZING as Hell. I wanted that. But I never had the ability to play on multiplayer. So I just was forced to watch people transform, fight other players, travel around the map. It made me cry at some point. I never even finished the game. Very sad.
Transformers Dark of The Moon: It was. Eh. I finished the game for sure. But I just felt like I was playing Transformers Fall of Cybertron or War for Cybertron. It was just the same so I acted like it. I beat it once. Came back to it for a few missions like Starscream's and Megatron. But after that. I just stopped playing it.
Transformers War For Cybertron: This right here. This was Perfection when I was a kid. My first Transformers game. I played it and beat it. Once again no Multiplayer. But the Campaign was still top tier enough for me. Playing Megatron felt amazing. Playing Optimus Prime felt Perfect. Everything was really good. It could only get better.
Transformers Fall of Cybertron: Once again I missed out on the Multi player. But the Campaign made up with that. The beginning did it perfect on introducing us to the whole thing. Then Metroplex. Do you know how many times I rewatched the 1st and 2nd trailer to this game? I have those two songs on my playlist now. Humbling river? Oh my god. Cities in Dust? We were born lucky to even get to hear it grace our ears while we et to see in the trailer. Both sides just fighting each other. Bruticus, The Dinobots, Bumblebee, Jazz, Optimus, even Godamn Metroplex! Do you know what I felt when I saw Metroplex? I was speechless. Because words couldn't describe how little me felt. Going from War For Cybertron to Fall of Cybertron. It's a perfect sequel. And I'll tell you this. The Trailer's for it did put more emphasis on that sad tone. Which under selled how bad everything actually is in the game. Somehoe the awesomeness, the sadness, the pain, the war. In the trailers it was all underselled. This Game quite literally made the perfect Sequel. And I also found a great UA-camr because of this game. JohnnyFlash. The first video of his I watched was Project Goliath. After that I just fell in Love with his content. It was about Transformers. Transformers and humor? Watching Johnnyflash? My Favorit things.
Transformers Rise of the Dark Spark: This. This is where things just fell down. It has plotholes which I found each one in a script I tried to make for a video. I did but never got all the audio recorded. But yea. This game wasn't good because it TRIED to be a tie in ge AND a sequel to Foc. Can't do both. So it just ended up being a mess that doesn't fit with either of the franchises. I still have it because my Xbox 360 disk tray scanner hasn't been working for years. So I'm forced ti just like this. Overtime thr love I had for this when I first got it. It was because it was Transformers and hearing the idea of the Dark Spark. I LOVED it. Just the execution and time hurt the game for me.
Transformers Devastation: Transformers Devastation. This game. Let's say. It made me have hope again. I do wish I could have kept the gamefly version or bought it. But I didn't and just played it a lot. Too be honest it was competing with other games i wa splaying at rhe time like the Arkham games, the Master Chief Collection. It got the rut of the litter. But I'll say for sure. I'll buy it and play it again. I want perfection of no damage on that game. And I want to fight Megatron again. The theme hits SO hard
I wish you had gone back as far as the ps1/N64 gen with these but great video as always 🤍
Man I remember my old man being so excited to take me to see the 2007 movie and I lost my mind that movie hit different
The coolest thing about the War for Cybertron games was that it setup an entire universe. I loved Transformers Prime when i was little so finding out that Prime is actually a sequel to Fall of Cybertron was mind blowing.
The "controls how they're supposed to be" bits kind of give the energy of "if forward isn't W, your head goes on a pike".
Fall of Cybertron was lightning in a bottle and they friggin’ fumbled the formula down the drain because Activision had to Activision.
According to my extensive knowledge of the 1986 movie, it’s Energon like John not gone. Somehow.
Like energy
Was not expecting this one!
I loved being able to play as starscream flying around destroying stuff as he was my favorite character in the movie
Shame you couldn't get the old PS2 Transformers Armada game in. That was so good
FOC will always remain one of my favorite stories in the franchise. Heck it's one of the reasons I have a PS3 today. Doubt a remaster will ever come outside of that short lived one in like 2016 or so, but yeah I love the game very much
Out of all of these games, the Cybertron games deserve a remaster on modern consoles. I mean can you imagine how awesome those environments alone would look on modern engines
One of the first games i ever played was the First Movie tie in on the Wii, the camera was a nightmare, but i still enjoyed it. My dad had the 2nd movie tie in so i played it out of bordem. Then you get to the High Moon Games. I remember getting a broken copy of Rise of the Dark Spark, where you could never get past the loading screen when you find the first weapons terminal. Fall of Cybertron was the best yet, i had a copy at both my moms house and my dads, spent a lot of time on the Escalation modes. Devastation was a departure from what i was used too but i still enjoyed it. I wish i could turn back the clock as the Multi-player modes are now shut down, and the consoles i played them on are now outdated and either didn't stand the test of time or are now buried in a storage room. Hopefully the new game Transformers: Reactivate will recapture that Spark (no pun intended) that i felt playing the old games, they've been quiet since they revealed the trailer at the Game Awards last year, so perhaps well be get some news on that soon.
The multiplayer days of the Cybertron games. I loved playing as the flying transformers.*Chefs Kiss*
so cool to see a non transformers gamer play these pieces of gold they are my childhood and im very fortunate to have had them especially the cybertron games
Remember games I played last year.
Man, that Omega Supreme defense on hard mode is BRUTAL.
One of the two hardest parts of the game, alongside Trypticon. Those two parts were quite hard even on Medium difficulty.
@@mallow2902 I honestly have to idea how I ever beat this on medium, I was a pretty bad gamer then. Now I'm upgraded to middling (I can beat Nightmare King Grimm in Hollow Knight after a LOT of effort but no way am ever doing the pantheon challenges)
In my last play I actually had fun with Trypticon, but I think that's only because Omega defense desensitized me to getting crushed over and over again. That and I picked Bumblebee who's by far the most mobile, and learned I could leap over the spiders in car form.
Maaaan after my heart. These were my favorite for so long. I'm playing rise of the dark spark on Wii u as I type
I have so many good childhood memories of the first two and the war and fall of Cybertron especiallyin the multiplayer.
2:58 i miss those videogame manuals. i used to love the detailed explanation abt the game and tge story as well as the illustrations!!!
I still love the bayverse first game on PS2/Xbox. And the two on ds where you were either an autobot or Decepticon and got to change your alt mode.
That “combiner wars devastator” was yes a promotion for a new figure back in 2015, but it wasn’t a model kit. Just letting you know
i remember renting Revenge of the Fallen multiple weeks in row from RedBox because of how fun it was
I recently found transformers devastation CIB at a dollar general lol. Was shocked. It was a Redbox copy it seems but great condition
Kind of funny Matty brings up Animorphs in this review considering Hasbro was making the toys back in the day. They even had the characters in the Animorphs tv show playing the Beast Wars video game in the pilot. Which I'm shocked Matty didn't cover, but maybe we'll get a part 2 with the games he missed.
I think i actually prefer War to Fall. Can't really put my finger on why but i remember being slightly disappointed in War at the end. Still both great games. Of course Devastation is just nostalgia overload. The art style, the classic voice cast, everything.
if you were disappointed in war why do you prefer it
been a transformers fan since 2007 and the cybertron games are so fucking incredible. Literally any transformers fan's wet dream.
Thanks for this video. I really hope if Microsoft does pull this off they bring back all of these . Never got a war for cybertron port so crossing my fingers
Great video. The Cybertron games were some of my favorite games as a teenager. So much fun. Playing as Grimlock and Bruticus was such big highlights. Not to mention Metroplex. Sad the series never got the conclusion it deserved.
I wouldn't be too hard on Edge of Reality for Dark Spark though. I put all the blame on Activison. The BTS on Dark Spark was horrible. High Moon wanted to make a third Cybertron game, but Activision forced them into making a movie tie-in. The crunch sapped all the passion out of High Moon and development got shifted over to EoR. After Dark Spark came out, EoR was dissolved.
I'll say this fpr War, the Autobot campaign is insanely difficult cpmpared to Fall. It's all about the Horde mode like gauntlets, culminating with Omega Supreme's defense from some 10-12 waves of enemies. Tbh it was almost frustratingly difficult at times.
Fall is definitely the better experience as a completely package, with Grimlocks chapters standing out as clearly Warhammers Space Marine influenced, from the way Grimlock shakes the ground as he moves, the melee focus, the tons of mobs swarming you. Very fun.
Man Transformers Devastation, i remember loving the graphics and the combat was amazing but i knew it was gonna be because of Platinum games but i hate we didn't get a sequel since we get baited in the post credits scene
Wow! This VIDEO™ was great. I HIGHLY™ enjoyed it. PLEASE™ continue to MAKE™ more.
War For Cybertron was my MW2😂. Played online so hard, and had a great time!
I put so many days into Transformers Autobots for the DS. I was almost max level because I kept dying to the Barricade boss fight
All jokes aside this is the new "back in my day" for alot of people at first it was the retro arcades packman Mario n64 now its transformers the batman arkham series and more it's crazy how in perspective the "back in my day" has changed
Great stuff. I loved the PS3 Cybertron games. Always wanted to play Devastation. I wish you were able to cover the PS2 Armada game!
"Time to let the high moon era begin" he says right after talking about a high moon game
Me and my brother uad so much fun playing war for cybertron . It was so much fun I miss that game
Transformers Devastation is so good. That game got really overlooked.
God the first movie game was my childhood, i just love free roam as the transformers in the open world. I love the first one and still play it, it ain't perfect but i still love. War of Cybertron i remember playing at a family members house and love playing as bumblebee. I recently got Transformers Devastation and i love the hell out of it even if it's short, i wish we got a sequel especially since we got a sequel bait in the end credits 😢.
