    What's funny about the rice water thing is that people are basing its effectiveness on results achieved by women who live in a remote part of Asia. First.... black hair ain't Asian hair. Second, they eat a clean, 100% organic diet and clean mineral enriched water..I think their diet and what they put in their bodies impacts their hair. We are not going to get hair like theirs no matter what we put on it.

Then I realized most of these ppl in these other countries have a healthier diet.

    Simply the basics: shampoo, condition, moisturize, and seal.
    That's why most of the natural hair gurus have long hair. They do the basics on a consistent basis.
    I mentioned this to someone else as advice. If you search "moisturize and seal", almost all of the thumbnails feature women with long and thick hair regardless if they were relaxed or natural.

I have used ACV as a rinse on days when I feel like I have a lot of build up.(which is rare) I use a two in one shampoo/conditioner (mane&tail) which I hear is shunned in the natural community. I use hair grease( oils wouldn't penetrate my hair) I use hair food, Indian hemp, or coconut oil grease. And I'm thinking I want to go back to sulphur 8 grease/ shampoo. I have noticed now in 2021 rice water is never mentioned in UA-cam like it was few years ago. I never understood why ricewater hair growth videos were everywhere. Now the trend is wash and go. I have followed your channel for years I must say you are the few you tubers that show how to care for natural hair.

    I was honestly going to try the rice water, but the only thing that stopped me was I don't have time to add extra steps to my hair routine.
    The whole reason people got on rice water was because we found out the Yao women in China use it and their hair is ridiculously long... there's a few reasons to consider on why their hair is so long:
    Yao women don't cut their hair. It's part of their village tradition and heritage to not cut their hair, so of course their hair is going to be down to their ankles.
    Also, we forget the difference in hair type. Natural hair is the weakest hair and prone to shrinkage and breakage, while Asian hair is the strongest hair type and typically straight (sometimes wavy).
    Yao women don't condition their hair. That's why they use rice water to moisturize their hair. That means the rice water that they use is just a substitute for hair moisturizer- something we don't need because we have every kind of oil, leave in, and regular conditioner available.
    If you have access to all these things, then you probably don't need to do rice water rinses, like the Yao women.
    Everyone just wants to find something that will get them to their hair goals faster and that's why we keep grabbing on to new hair trends so fast. When I first hear of rice water, I thought it was another stupid trend but the more videos I saw of people using it, the more I started to get convinced that it worked and I was missing out on something amazing. But I couldn't fit it in my routine and then I thought of the reasons I typed above of why it's probably not a real holy grail method and I don't need it.

    People have to stop with this long hair obsession b/c the gimmicks are out of control. Personally, I love short hair. Natural hair isn't complicated like u said. I will always stick with shampoo, condish, water and Blue Magic for my hair, that works for me. Glad that you are back.

    • @ladeet1252
      @ladeet1252 6 років тому +11

      I agree! The obsession with length is very obvious. We have to understand that healthy hair will gain length but long unhealthy hair will break off. We, in my opinion, need to go back to basics and keep it simple. Cleanser, conditioner and grease.

    I don’t do much to my hair, i deep condition once a month and wash and condition once a week. Rice water and tea rinses are the only other thing i do because it helps with shedding and it makes my hair stronger. I’ve been natural since 2012 and my hair is only starting to thrive. I’ve been doing it a while to see a difference, i don’t do length checks either. Also i don’t waste the rice, i just use extra water when cooking it and once it starts to boil i take out half of the water and put it in the cup to ferment for a day or two.

    I've missed your videos and straight to the truth with no sugar coating way you present your opinions. I haven't and won't try the rice water. I've been natural since mid 2016 and since then there's been all these products getting canceled, products promoting faster and thicker growth. I have pretty much been sticking to a basic routine and staying away from most of the "natural hair rules ". I did purchase a steamer, deep condition every week, keep my ends trimmed and I just let my hair thrive. Health over length is more important to me.
