Hi Ben. To find a good trainer, are there any official qualifications to look out for ? I love your methods of teaching BTW, you make it so understandable and that’s what is needed as the owners need to understand as much as the dogs do.
@@SiRhodesDriverTraining so here in the uk there is no official course or qualification you must have to be a dog trainer. And there are hundreds of different courses and acronyms for people do put on their name. Unfortunately a lot of the time this is not a good representation of whether or not a dog trainer is good or not. Much like having a driving licence doesn’t make you a good driver 😅. Definitely look for trainers that share their work so you can see them handling dogs and talking to clients so you can know if you’re choosing the right person.
I'd love to see you take this a bit further and outline how you'd find a good dog trainer. There are so, so many bad ones out there and it feels like the only way to identify those is when they come to your house and waste your time and money.
@@radiationcow so true! And it is something that many of my clients have been unfortunate also. For me personally I have always tried to post as much content as I can on social media platforms to show my work, my methods and thoughts on different aspects of Dog Training. This is what forms sort of portfolio for my potential clients to get a good idea of who I am and how I train before they, decide to invest in me as a trainer so I would recommend choosing somebody based on that. It’s never going to be a guarantee that you’ll find somebody good but at least that way you’re not going in blind
