I love the curve method just one thing at 17:37 u can press shift+T so the light would follow where ur mouse is . its way better then pressing R twice

Protip which I never seen anyone mention. You can type in node initials to get them faster. For example: Shift+A + type in the search "CR" and you'll get a color ramp. Much quicker than typing "col" or "wav" or "noi". I.E, NT gives you Noise Texture (below will be results of all other nodes with the same initials too).

    Use Float Curve

  • @BrandonBloxBB

This reminds me of when a strong character smashes the ground and causes blocks to fly up and down in random directions, but that’s more on the rigid body side I think

I’ve been using float curve node for the same thing. I wonder is there any difference? I just tried switching them out and don’t see one but perhaps in different use cases it is?

Technically the float curve is the node designed for stuff like this. RGB curves work with color/vector information (sets of 3 values), while float curves work with floats (1 value). The reason that both work here is because color/vector information can be converted into a float if it needs to be

By default rgb curves equal to float cruve, but they can also adjust 3 float for each R,G,B channel separatedly. Unless you are working with an rgb image, there isn't much point since 3 separate float curve nodes is much clearer & faster to adjust.

Hello, I am your annual Patreon subscriber. Your tutorials are very inspiring. Recently, I have made several similar effects based on your tutorials, and they all look great. I would like to ask if I can use these effects in my own commercial projects. I hope to get your reply. Thank you.

    Very interesting ! 🚀
Do you think it's possible to have a curve for the up movement a another for the down movement ?
I supose it will need sort of math contiditional branching ?

Blender should rename it to e.g., "Curve Mapping". I've never seen anyone use that node for color.
