For the past couple months we’ve been sailing through Greece and Turkey and during that time and it has been one of our favorite cruising grounds we’ve ever visited. Experiences like these are exactly why we travel the world by sailboat. But there is also a darker side to sailing the world.
No matter how cautious we are, no matter how experienced or knowledgeable, we always run the risk of having to abandon ship. It’s been said that green sailors prepare for boredom and disaster but in reality neither is going to happen, and generally speaking I think that is true. But now that we are preparing to set sail on our first overnight offshore passage in over two years, it’s time for us to triple check all of our emergency gear, so that is the worst were to happen, we’d be prepared.
But there’s a couple more hidden gems that we want to check out here in Greece before we say goodbye to to this beautiful country and shove off on the 48 hours sail up the Adriatic to Montenegro. Last week we transmitted the Corinth canal, explored the ancient ruins at Delphi, and anchored off the picturesque town of Galaxidi. This week our story begins with us under sail approaching the wetlands and shallow lagoon of the Greek town of Missolonghi.

Glad you had a peaceful rest. I miss sleeping on the deck. I also like the small villages. We would go ashore and hit a small coffee shop and watch the sun rise. It does not matter what city or country it was always the best morning. We found that after 10 years living in Europe it is hard to go to a restaurant in the states, so bland.

Isabella is becoming a little girl😊. Time flies, I remember when Desiree was sharing when she was Pregnant. Your videos of Greece were stunning. I advocate a Becautiful Atticus Travel Book so I can set it on my coffee table. When I just want to look at the beautiful places away from elctronics and just relax. Glad you are moving more west by now. I feel bad for Turkey and their wild fires and political unrest right now. Still think about that Catamaran upgrade (air condition one room, big space for the family, less heeling over) SV Delos is doing the aluminum cat which should be able to go anywhere in the world. I love my Spot X. I use it to let my wife know where I am when I’m in the back country hiking and fishing. About a week ago I turned it on to drain the battery completely so I can recharge it and it still has 2 bars. So far it’s worked really well.

You dont need a skippers licence in Europe but they like it if you have one.
Hope you guys can see some Croatia. the second largest wall is there (like Great Wall of China) and it protects a salt evaporation area. It’s interesting, has some places to anchor and off the big tourist path like Split and Dubrovnik. Place is called Ston. Not that far north if you have the time and you can sail by Dubrovnik.
Have a bunch friends there right now and told them to keep an eye out for you guys.

We live on our boat in qld Australia we have just had a new airconditioner put in myyy goodness expensive but worth it maybe look into as like ours it’s our home need to all be comfortable especially with a new Baby on the way 😂

I love your channel, love this history etc, but just a positive criticism, if thats possible, pregnancy is not a disease, it might be difficult but not a disease. Take it in your stride, but enjoy it and yes, you can still be active in your family life

How many people are on your boat in this video? I enjoy your family, your adventures. I explored all those same areas a long time ago and have, like you, amazing stories and I loved every minute, good..at times perilous. Not on a sailboat of my own but many ways, from walking to buses, trains, big boats and small. I am confused about your time line as my utube indicates 4 months, alot, then 8 months. I follow the thread haphazardly. Picking up cues from how long Desiree's hair is, how old your amazing beauty baby LOOKS. Basically she always looks to be the same age, a yr.+. Hope her health issues are not the worst case scenario. She seems to an onlooker to be delighting in her life, happy; but realize the disease you told viewers is complicated so...❤
