Hi Stan - glad you had fun. A few other details about the setup, for the curious. The mower is a Bad Boy Outlaw XP. They don't make this particular model anymore, but it is in line with their current biggest mowers. This one has a Briggs Vanguard 36hp V-Twin. It will do 12 mph - haven't had any issues yet, other than tire wear. But I haven't watched close enough to tell if I have more tire wear plowing snow or mowing. The load on the hydros usually isn't too bad in the winter - traction limited and all. They work far harder on my hilly yard in the summer. Plus these Parker pumps have coolers, and its cold outside in the winter. I usually put the mower on a battery maintainer between uses to keep the battery up - especially if plowing at night. The charging output on the Briggs isn't a whole lot higher than the draw of my light package. Never had an issue with it going dead during use. This Briggs doesn't have the greatest starter - it will have trouble below 40F - it can't spin the cold hydros. In the heated garage it isn't an issue. If I left it out below 40, I may have to open the bypass valve on one of the hydros so it can turn it over. The plow is a Boss UTV V-XT 5'6" plow. This started out as an experiment when I moved to this property - the thought being, if it didn't work, I'd move the plow to a four wheeler. Three seasons later, I still haven't bought a four wheeler. It works better than expected. Even with the toolcat now, I still use the plow for 90% of the snow, just because it is faster. The toolcat was new-to-me just a couple weeks before Stan came out. Still working on catching up on its neglect from a former life. Stan has my number if he gets any ideas for playing with the Toolcat in the summer, or if he wants to try out a BadBoy for actual mowing. Dan the Redneck Plow Creator

That’s an awesome build!! The weight balance is just wicked....a lawn mower blasting a foot of heavy snow is just crazy awesome... Dan is obviously a really smart fella!!!
I used to work for the county parks department. We had a factory snow blade for a Grasshopper 725 zero turn. They even sold a wheel weight set and cab for it. Spent many hours pushing snow with that machine. I could move snow faster than our JD 425 tractor with the blade could. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the cab kit...... I plow snow in my 600 ft driveway with a 42" Hustler and a home made V plow. I don't have a lot of snow in Tennessee, but this works just fine in 6 inches of snow on a paved driveway. Have used this for three years. I have a pretty good hill in my driveway. Handling is not a problem.
Same Boss plow I have on my Polaris 550 ATV. So easy to use.. I had to put heavier springs from Highlifter on the front to help because of the weight of the plow. I have 120 lbs added to the rear for counter weight. (need more). I do have chains on the rear wheels. The controls are so easy to get use to. (mine mounted on the left). I use to spend 5-6 hrs plowing with my old setup. I have cut that time in half with the Boss plow. I love it.

I'm sitting here in California thinking, " Stan figured how to make the work of clearing a driveway into a great way to have fun during a snow storm". Great execution on your build, Dan is "The Man".
Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! After the first storm of the year this has exceeded expectations! It throws snow very well, even 10-12” + that said the more it piles up the harder it is to maneuver the machine. It is exceptionally light weight and overall exactly what I was looking for. If you have a large amount of snow and a lot of area to clear, you may consider something with a drive engine to help maneuverability, but for decks, second stories, roofs etc, you can’t beat the light weight to great snow throwing ratio. Side note, the chute rotator is a bit flimsy and it initially didn’t seem to work, after a few uses it seems to have loosened up.
Looks like Dab is a regular Huck Fin. He has convinced you that his chores are fun and gotten you to plow his driveway for him! LOL. Very cool device. It would be nice.
Dan’s setup works surprisingly well. I plowed with a John Deere 214 garden tractor before I got my drivers license and started plowing with a pickup. That Boss V would have been super sweet on that old tractor. I had wheel weights, suitcase weights on the back, and 2 link tire chains on it. I even used it to plow our ice skating pond when the ice got thick enough. It would move some serious snow.

That thing is sweet Stan. I've done a lot of plowing in my time. I still plow, the company I plow for. I plow DT White bear lake. 7 commercial lots. Then 2 townhome sites with a 262D cat skid . With an 8-foot Kage plow. Love your videos.

Stan i owned a Tool Cat 5600T for 4 years, with a 8 foot pusher box we moved snow up to 24 inches. Its a fast pusher and switching to crab steer you can get into some tight areas. Yes the boom needs to reach higher but in landscape prep we used it to grade for sod and seed. Used for large area landscape and snow plowing. Material like shrubs and flowers the tool cat could move more faster with less damage to existing turf. Things that needed improvement the A/C needed help with all the glass in the summer. Over all a great machine for snow and special landscape progects
Interesting , Thank You . Every once in a while I wonder if a plow would work on my Counry Clipper . Thank You for demonstrating the Tool Cat. Thank You
Hey Stan! If you like this setup, you have to check out what we can do with the toro multiforce, we have a plow, salt, and liquid de-icer all at once. machines have been custom built and have been working for toro to pick up the salter/ liquid de-icer design. has lighting all around with strobes. can swap out with broom and more. I hate kohlers too! Kawasaki for life!
Being from upstate NY originally and plowing snow with my Dad’s 8 hp Simplicity tractor I totally thought he needed tire chains on that, but no that just plowed like a champ.
We've run Toolcats for years. Bought a new one 2 years to replace the 8 year old one and it has been nothing but problems. Have over $5000 in repairs it it so far. None of it was warrantied due to corrosion. Had to replace almost all hoses already, valve body due to corrosion. The whole boom arm bent from tagging a rock when plowing snow. The boom arm should not be the weakest point on the machine. No dent or any damage to the plow, (snowdogg by the way). Numerous wiring repairs, most of those were warrantied though. They are very expensive machines and very costly to repair. The drive pto belt went out and that was a $1800 repair due to how much labor there was to get at it. We keep debating getting rid of it but they are so damn handy to have.
Stan! This was a super fun video! Thank you. This guy has a pretty sweet setup for a homeowner. But I'm going to tell you this, you HAVE to try the Toro Grandstand Multiforce with the plow. That would be a super cool video to watch you put it through the paces. The multiforce is an absolute beast for driveways, i will never go back to a plow truck ever again for residential driveways, the multiforce has been a GAME CHANGER for me.

Wow wow wow that is so impressive great engineering I wish they would make more attachments for zero turn mowers it's the least that you spend so much money on one of them and only use it one time a year thanks Stan for the video Sam from labor by neighbor Scranton PA
Great idea. I thought of how cool it be to take a zero turn mower and put tank tracks on it and use it like a go anywhere vehicle. Use it to push snow, ride on a trail or just for fun. If got a welder and know how to fabricate it be lot of fun to build
This is legit! I have a few four wheelers to do commercial sidewalks and they are a pain when turning around. I’ve looked into the toro stand on and it doesn’t seem like it would be very effective. This is a perfect scenario for effectiveness and a time saver. Edit: this guy did a phenomena job with the engineering and cleanliness of his adaptation.
That has the maneuverability of a skid steer without the cost. Zero turn! Perfect for complex driveways. A side by side is heated but it's not as maneuverable.
When people plow with a small skid steer, they ride the blade and the powered front wheels don't touch the ground, which is similar to using a zero turn. So I think a commercial duty zero turn would be good for plowing.
Stan who in their right mind parks there’s snow plow with the plow in the front in the garage knowing full well there’s gonna be 3 feet in the morning. Always park in the “combat ready position”. That means blade out chemo Sabe
This would change the snow removal business for zero turn mowers. If you can have this added to any of those zero turn mowers, then you have yourself an all season machine of awe. Have it patient and trademark before someone else can
I guess a lot of people probably already know but for those of you who maybe new to zero turn. They ride like crap and don't get traction if the rear tires are fully inflated. I have a Deere 920 that calls for 20 psi in the rear tires (you'll hate it with 20 psi). I run 12 psi, the ride and traction is much better. JD makes a set of softer plastic wheels that are $840 a set. You can do the same thing with inflatable tires just keep the psi the same in both tires so it mows level. Hope this is beneficial
I didn’t see chains on the mower either. I wonder if they would help for deeper snow? Very cool set up!! He did a nice job fitting that. My driveway is gravel is why the chains question.
Let’s go back to Dans description of how and why he built this snow plow. Dan is NOT your average home owner, he has a good bit of common sense, in fact the more he talks the more I can tell he’s petty damn smart, at least he doesn’t drive into the garage. He’s smart enough to look at several different units to decide which he can adapt to his mower, then build a subframe to carry the weight and strengthen his unit so as not to tear it up. A lot of the people you interview are not all there, but this man is. The weight system is easy to install and remove, the subframe doesn’t have to be removed to put the mower back on. If the snow gets real deep he can use the bobcat and bucket to remove snow, it has a cab. This was one of your better interviews.stay safe
Extremely surprising I think one of the best things about retrofitting this boss V plow on a zero turn Rider is how quick it moves and turn around it does remind you of a Toro grandstand more the difference is it has a V plow versus a straight blade.
It looks like when you set the plow down… Those front wheels up. Has Dan ever hit a solid curb or anything that would cause the vehicle to stop abruptly. In other words is there a sheer pin anywhere?
What appeared to be a crazy time delusional setup turned out to be a well engineered solution sized for the problem at hand. Epic fun to watch! I would call it Yankee engineering / adaption. Thank you again.
when i first saw those mower plows i thought it looked like a joke. but when my neighbor bought one i thought it was pretty cool when he plowed my driveway for me lol.
There are several companies that use plows on zero turns in our area to clear snow in some shopping centers here. I’ve seen them handle some deep snow too. Pretty impressive what those commercial zero turns can do in the snow.
I’m with ya , these things are designed to not be stopped. Motor right on top of your drive axles. Along with independent hydro pumps. These zero turns are tanks, imagine a set of chains or belts on them yet ?
I've had one on my cub for 7yrs or so. It's not one you can get from a box store, have to go to a dealership. Has a steering wheel so the front tires turn instead of castors which helps a lot and doesn't drift as much mowing across hills and banks. Now I like the v plow here better though. I also have chains, but my drive isn't paved.
Dan is one cool dude..we should visit him again in the summer and see what he has going on and what new gadgets he’s tinkering with..loved this video brother God Bless.
I wonder how he handled the electrical load from the plow operation?? Most small engine equipment like that does not have a true alternator, and the batteries don't have a ton of capacity.
why is this not answered, how come there was zero mention of the methods of blade control? I know why it was neither shown or mentioned how it works when blade was adjusted all the way to move snow to one side or another - because it would not work that way. There would be too much side thrust on the front of the mower for what would be then only (effectively) one drive wheel and it would just spin. Requires even balance side to side to work at all and if there was very much material it would be completely ineffective because it would build up in front of the blade too quickly and thus be only good for short runs, like maybe across a driveway side to side - very ineffective. IMnsHO and E so far. PS, and very disingenuous not to tell us any of that :-(
@@spiritcallsus I was worried about that when I built it... but it really hasn't been a problem. If its deep, I V-plow through once. And then just keep rolling to the sides. If its super deep, you take a smaller bite when you try to roll it over next time. In practice, my driveway is narrow, I'm not rolling it far. Bit areas, I just scoop forward and do straight pushes. The one year we got super buried, when the banks got too high on the sides if the driveway, I use the length of the plow to the advantage - turn sideways, and roll them out down the ditch. With all the weight on the back, it backs right out of the ditch again so long as you keep the rears on the pavement.
I was laughed when he said he was rolling a 500 lb rock out of the way, with his lawn mower, something people say hardly, Never? 🤣👍, he did a good job, and it does the job
👍3 years old? The only thing it could probably use is a down motion dampener to avoid the crash onto the surface. The one thing that I've yet to see is a snowblower on one of those zero turns. Thanks for sharing.
Have you tried out grasshopper mowers? They have a front deck zero turn that you can swap the deck for other attachments. One of them is a v plow. They also have a snowblower.
Grandstand multiforce is the cats ass! Company I work for has 2 we use year round. 1 we have the high flow hydro unit on to run a snowblower or sweeper and 1 with a plow on it. Love them! The sweeper and snowblower have amazing power for their size! With wheel weights, and winter tires on them they have great traction!

Right on! This guy really did a great job.
P.S. I have a toolcat and the versatility is phenomenal!
That bobcats left rear rim has one horrible dent. Lovely machines good vid.
I don't think I've ever seen you smile so much Stan! You are like a kid at a amusement park with you around free tickets! Great video thanks bunches
Stan who in their right mind parks there’s snow plow with the plow in the front in the garage knowing full well there’s gonna be 3 feet in the morning. Always park in the “combat ready position”. That means blade out chemo Sabe
Crazy!! The possibilities of that thing! Is endless. Stan id love to run one
Great video, but if that was inside ur house at the beginning of this, that was Amazing. Love the wide open layout, beautiful
That looks like a nice compact quick way to clear some snow
It was!
Im very impressed...bad boy and boss for the win on this one!!
“Notice” on lawnmowers were broken in making of this video!! Great fun on a cold 🥶 day.Thanks.
love the ingenuity! great video as always Dan seems like a cool dude!
That was sooooooooooo AWESOME. Holy cow. I would love to have that mower and plow. WOW 😳 You guys had so much fun, I could tell. WOW!
😁👍👍
Wow that's MOWPLOW for sure, lol that works very well, thanks for sharing, big hugs from MN
Just a typical day at work, unplowin stuff. Sam is a grin.
he has a great way of puttiing things in perspective.
I want to go to Dan's to play with the local mow plow. Nice work Dan.
This guy is way ahead of the mower market I'm hiring this guy if I own that company.
It's a good thing he knows how to weld! every snow storm I'm welding on a boss snow plow
Glad I am not the only one who says bass awards. Dexlexia at its finest!!
that extra weight really does the trick to ballance and add momentum like a flywheel battery stores up the oomphf for when ya need it
I didn’t see chains on the mower either. I wonder if they would help for deeper snow? Very cool set up!! He did a nice job fitting that. My driveway is gravel is why the chains question.
Mine is a steep incline and depending on the type of snow I usually need chains.
Enjoyed and impressed by the ingenuity, and thank you for sharing. Everybody stay safe out there!
Imagine spending all that money and finding out it just didn't work...ballsy. Thats awesome.
Extremely surprising I think one of the best things about retrofitting this boss V plow on a zero turn Rider is how quick it moves and turn around it does remind you of a Toro grandstand more the difference is it has a V plow versus a straight blade.
And my mower will get stuck in wet leaves. Great video Stan loved it thank you
The reason his works so well is the back weights. Maybe you need a little extra traction somehow?
For an easy rear weight ballast would be to add Rim Guard liquid ballast in your rear tires.
Love your channel. Keep up the good work. I live in wisconsin. Maybe we will share a few snow storms.
I think we will!
Great idea, now he needs a sander on the back so he can sand the driveway!
It looks like when you set the plow down… Those front wheels up. Has Dan ever hit a solid curb or anything that would cause the vehicle to stop abruptly. In other words is there a sheer pin anywhere?
The plow has a spring trip built into it. Stan tripped it at one point in the lawn.
What appeared to be a crazy time delusional setup turned out to be a well engineered solution sized for the problem at hand. Epic fun to watch! I would call it Yankee engineering / adaption. Thank you again.
agreed. he got this dialed right in.
@@Dirtmonkey but are the controls intuitive? 😬😂😂😂
when i first saw those mower plows i thought it looked like a joke. but when my neighbor bought one i thought it was pretty cool when he plowed my driveway for me lol.
I have never seen this before- what Mower did he put his on?
@@Dirtmonkey it actually was a 2inch hitch receiver plow and he welded a receiver to the front of the mower. The mower was an Exmark lazerz
You found a kindred soul with the same level of crazy. Very fun video. THANKS!
Hasn't been an issue - I usually run full throttle, so its gets the most charge - and put it on a trickle charger when I'm done.
A guy could use one of them (more with employees) to run a snow removal, lawn mowing business. That thing is really cool.
Would be perfect for that
I just took my Husky Z560 out in the snow i have to say this thing was a TANK!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE. Id like to put a plow on it too!
That setup would be great for residential and commercial sidewalks
Grandstand multiforce is the cats ass! Company I work for has 2 we use year round. 1 we have the high flow hydro unit on to run a snowblower or sweeper and 1 with a plow on it. Love them! The sweeper and snowblower have amazing power for their size! With wheel weights, and winter tires on them they have great traction!
So true!!!👍
This man does aloe for his family friends and so much more,so obvious, and makes me laugh every time I watch his videos
That was cool you need to do more of that stuff. That guy is an engineer. Needs to make retro kits and sell them. Love it
or plans for retro kits.
