The open hand strength on this kid is insane, not a crimp in sight

Feel like it just depends on the length of your fingers and each joint

@@QuinnValetine yeah I've been thinking about it recently, I can't full crimp my pinky is too short and it fucks up the rest of my fingers to have it on, so yeah I recommend thinking about it and adjusting your training if you haven't already

@@elooouan Yah I am unable to chisel or 4 finger drag. Its either half crimp or 3 finger drag

If only I had space for ALL the boards. And to have them all adjustable!

Very impressive! Insane finger strength. What's impressive is to compare him with legendary boulderers such as D-Woods or J-Webb who have steel fingers too but are much more in control on those boards thanks to their inhuman core strength. Imagine Colin with a core as strong as those, in a few years, beating V14-15 like it's nothing.

Colin has an extremely strong core but he has a very different climbing style which may be what you're noticing here. He's also a bit shorter than them so he uses whatever method seems most efficient to him on any given problem. That said, he, Jimmy, and Daniel all have unique strengths as well. Daniel for example has the most power and static tension and can carry them through entire ranges of movement in a way that may be unmatched.

Very late reply, but yeah seems like it’s not a lack of core strength. His short stature, dynamic power, and absolutely outrageous open hand strength means he’s less likely to favor holding tension in static positions and can really maximize his reach by throwing for holds and catching them, whereas more static full crimpers like aiden roberts will maximize body tension by fully cranking on the hold, allowing a better range of motion above the hold and throughout a move compared to open hand at the expense of some power. Definitely shows in some of the different styles that they climb and boulders that they’ve ticked.
