Pajarillo had a pretty promising career. Image to start, Cable fill ins and Venom minis at Marvel then Morrison era JLA fill ins. Then he moved to video games.
7:01 Yes, Micah is a book in the Old Testement --- I think Rob Liefeld's father was a preacher if I'm not mistaken. He's expressed an interest in doing religious comics before, but I don't think anything ever came from it.
You answered before I could. You're correct, I believe, about his interest in religion. I can't remember where I read it, but I definitely remember reading it because at the time, I was a pentecostal holy roller kid, and I coudn't believe an Image guy, much less Liefeld, was religious or had personally-held religious beliefs. (If you want proof I was a pentecostal holy roller, look up Spawn #15, the original issue from 1993---Todd printed my fan letter talking about how Spawn couldn't have sold his soul to the devil because if he wasn't a Christian, Satan would already have his soul anyway. LOL. I was in 8th grade, what can I say?) From what I remember, Prophet was definitely supposed to be a religious hero. Liefeld has used Bible passages before in his writing, too.
8:23 Pop Mhan (pronounced 'man'). I inked him over at Wildstorm on Union. Not a great experience (which is why I only inked part of one issue over him). There's a story there, but I'm not gonna tell it here.
Pop had a very interesting style over at Extreme, a Chris Bachalo meets graffiti type deal. He lost it and his art became completely generic and bland DC staffer stuff. What an incredible waste.
I have that Prophet issue as well as the Prophet / Avengelyne crossover. Crossover is feels like a nothing burger to me . Liefield was only for a few pages and goes off to the rest of the first issue and the following issue. Also those showcase art for that crossover is probably the only good thing as the action sequences by Liefield were pretty stiff. As for the Prophet comic, it was fine I guess..I mean in terms of Extreme comics and what not (probably Prophet was the series I collected in Extreme Studios) but I'm a little disappointed that Platt wasn't doing the art in the book apart from the cover (I think half the cover is somewhat of a nod of Liefield doing Heroes Reborn back then?) but Mark Parajillo's art wasn't as bad or at least I can forgive it. Speaking of Mark, he did some guest pencils in issues of JLA in the late 90's. He managed to find his style and is far more different from his work on Prophet Vol. 2 # 5.
Good review, have a Happy Thanksgiving🦃🦃

Haha, the Pittsburgh Comicon ad at the end. I live in Pittsburgh and it's still going strong all these years later. It's now called Steel Con.
