  • HR Basics is a series of short lessons, designed to highlight what you need to know about a particular human resource management topic. In today’s HR Basics, we explore workplace conflict, understanding more about conflict in the workplace, and how to solve it.
    Workplace conflict is a perceived divergence of interests, a belief that parties current aims are incompatible. Anytime people work together, conflict is a part of ‘doing business’. Conflict is a normal and natural part of any workplace. When it occurs, there is a tendency for morale to be lowered, an increase in absenteeism and decreased productivity.

    Here is what I learned based on experience and observation.
    1) People in general are lazy. People don't like working. They just want the paycheck.
    2) Every conflict that I have been involved in or witnessed, everybody thinks they are right, regardless of how wrong they might be.
    3) Human Resources are not a Police Department. They are just workers like everybody else. If there is a conflict between two workers, HR is going to do what's right for the company, not the victim. They usually try to get rid of the victim.
    4) For people to get along with each other, it depends on mutual respect, cooperation and understanding. You can throw in good manners, courtesy and being considerate. Those things must exist, or else you will not get along.
    5) Some people are easy to get along with. Some people are difficult to get along with. And some are impossible to get along with.

      Hi thanks for this. But no. 4 ... I don't agree . If the victim is right then how can the company get rid of them? .. is not the company wrong? ..
