Admech would be a good faction for them to fight but one of the Eldar factions would be too. The BEST army for them to fight is definitely the green skins though (and by best I mean it’s the most fitting story wise in terms of general fantasy dwarves to fight green skins)

The custodes would get oblitrated, the space dwarfs have a bunch of weapons which ignore invun saves and slash damage which would destroy a unit of very expensive terminators.
This looks extremely interesting, and I am very close to sold on these models now. You can pinpoint the moment where Nick starts getting worried about not being able to use a fish of fury tactic and it's when he starts hearing about teleport crests. Also side note, but JT have you lost a bit of weight? You're looking good mate!
The judgment system sounds super cool, it feels like you're settling grudges. The leagues look like they keep grudges, they should write a big book of them.
At 4:42 I could make out a sentence that answers a question I had regarding their relations with the T'au, if the Leagues of Votann are actually the Demiurg or not. Seems like they are: "The Kin have been mistakenly known to T'au and Human alike as the Demiurg,..."
Its a pity that the AOS dwarfs actually look more like proper 40k space dwarfs. I hope they add in some more spice to the range. but hell the squats are back and i never thought we would see that day!

I was STOKED when they previewed, simmered down on them as the long drawn out previews, and even luke warm as they finally inched closer. But I just can't NOT love all things dwarf and while there are some aspects I would like MORE, I do still love these guys. Will see if I can secure my copy and maybe make these boys my main army.

I am still waiting on Air Units for the Votann!!!!!! Not to mention their tanks/land fortress seems to have a very vulnerable/exposed cockpit at the front, even if the canopy is made of some kind of Dark Age of Technology Glass!!!!

I will be getting this but I admit part of the models don’t make me think dwarves. So when I get them I plan to maybe take some Aos Karadron Overlords bits and use those and then do some stuff with my paint job to make them look more dwarfish. Also side thing I still kinda wish they would’ve just had a new KO release (I know those sculpts aren’t that old but still) and say that these are some of the new models for the LoV too. Just use an upgrade sprue like Tzaangors have. I know it’s lazy but still since the KO look like what space dwarves should look like. Don’t let my negativity make you think I’m not interested or excited about them because I am.
No, I agree. The Votann models are... _fine_ ....but they don't sufficiently "whelm" me. "Underwhelm", if you will. They come off as a very "safe" aesthetic, in line with modern Sci Fi trends (not unlike the Primaris Marine range). Not _bad,_ but not that great. Certainly not dwarf enough for me. If I were to start a Votann force, I would be using the "Einherjar" models from Wargames Atlantic for the basic troops. They've got a mix of dwarf and viking. Mixing specialist units from Mantic Games and/or Ramshackle Games. (It helps that all these options will end up cheaper to buy than the GW kits.)
You know Nick, i have some issues with Votann railguns too, as i'm wondering what is the difference between Tau's railguns and Dwaren ones, also why they don't have that line of effect rule like ballistas in WFB that each pierced target lowers it's S value.
Honestly you should do several battles with different factions against Votann. People are just gonna die of anxiety waiting for the next Votann appearance.

I would like to have some Votann allies for my Tau, and have them painted in a manner that resemble the Demiurg style, i.e. very industrial metallics with soot and oil stains.
It doesn't look like an Imperium army to me. It lacks the emperor worship, the parchments, the armor and weapons are different... They look like a more serious take on dwarfs in space.
I've Read of a playtest where 1k votan tabled 2k of custodes. There are very nasty interaction between their special rules , it's not that hard to get 3 JT and wound on a 4+ to hit with reroll That counts as natural 6. And, unlike other units that have similar rules, they pack strong weapons

the AoS Kharadrons have very promising head bits, but I think the Votann armor is going to make fitting them together difficult...
I'm just gonna use bluestuff and epoxy to duplicate the ironkin heads if there aren't enough I'm the box
