I always like the nickname for the supermassive black hole in the center of the Milky Way. El Monstro or the name of giant black whale in Pinocchio that swallowed everything. But if the Kindred are Men of Stone, then things get werid around the Cybernetic rebellion. Because in some fluff the war/rebellion was against the Men of Stone specifically. Since the Men of Stone created the Men of Iron. It would also explain why the one known surviving Man of Iron doesn't hate baseline humans. Because the war with Men of Iron wasn't with baseline humanity, but with the Men of Stone and baseline humanity got dragged into it.
" "Squat" physique" I see what you did there. Good job. Wouldnt have been a worthy video if you didnt get it in there somehow. The ancestors are pleased.
Its really cool to see what came to be of the Men of Stone. The signs are all there. Ancient human tech, wide use of AI seen as equals, their pioneering and industrious streak, and the fact theyre all clones and seemingly designed for the most harsh of environs. Its a really clever way to not only make the squats make sense, but give them a really cool niche to fill in the history of 40k.
I get the feeling that someone thought “ what if fantasy Dwarves, but in space” and that Idea lead to brain storming. And then the Voltan kindred are the result.
I wonder how the man of iron UR-025 would react to being amongst the leagues of Votann. I suspect he would greatly enjoy communicating with their leagues’ Votann.
So far, the kin are very resistant to both mutations and chaos possession, as they have very dim souls and use barrier tech to interact with the Warp. This barrier tech means that their psykers don't actually channel the warp directly making it hard for demonic possession to occur. That being said, there are Votann AI who have gone insane, and its entirely possible a Votann itself could get possesed (the Ancestor Cores have a warp signature and can be seen in the Warp, despite being purely machine). I could see an Votann creating its own Chaos Dorfs.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone modded them into the existing DoW, the modding scene for that game is nuts.
Oh yeah I would love a third Dawn of War game for sure
@@raycearcher5794 I see you're a man of culture!
You should petition the Unification mod team to include them, that game has an insane amount of armies.
...Somehow, The Squats have returned.
Suprisingly tight, interesting lore for these guys, awesome video as always
I love how their entire society was crafted as a mining machine
Oculus Imperia, you my friend serve The Emperor faithfully and should be commended for your loyalty during these grimdark times.
Glad to finally have some lore on the leagues of brokan.
Gonna finally play those Deep Rock games now, thanks for helping with my head canon!
Remember squats can be an offensive term, refer to them as the Kin.
The Oculus hates but understands the necessity of cogitator-SEO in Imperial data archives.
@@OculusImperia The Machine Spirit must be appeased.
Squatter is our word but you can call us my kin
Yes! This is a video I've been waiting on and expecting! Thank you Historitor! Excellent work!
Tied to the Stonemen nice, im fairly new to 40k and Lore so thats the first I had heard of that.
" "Squat" physique"
I see what you did there. Good job. Wouldnt have been a worthy video if you didnt get it in there somehow. The ancestors are pleased.
I absolutely love the fact that they steal biomass from the tyranids.
Can't wait to finish work , fire up the bbq and listen to this!
I haven't listened yet, but I think this is the first new faction since Oculus started his channel... this is gonna be awesome lore!
Most revered Oculus, i have consumed all of your classes over the last few weeks, and eagerly await the next entry. Ave Imperitor.
You're a gifted orator. Thank you for sharing your voice with all of us
We all wanted the dark mechicum to come out. Now with The Kin, we realize the Cult of Mars was the real dark mechanicum all this time.
Every time I see a vid come up here, I know it’s going to be awesome.
Great job, your work is very much appreciated.
I can see The 18th legion and the Votann working together and sharing tech knowledge.
Senescence. I learned a new word. Thank you for your work Oculus. Ave Imperator.
I was waiting for you to cover this, I'm so happy to see this video.
Thanks a ton dude
Don't mind me, just coming back to this vid to say that yep, the Kyn are still awesome.
wtf, THEY WERE BIOROBOTS?! dude, that is fucking awesome! i love that!
I get the feeling that someone thought “ what if fantasy Dwarves, but in space” and that Idea lead to brain storming. And then the Voltan kindred are the result.
Well this was unexpected. I thought you'd wait awhile before getting into these guys, but its a welcome surprise nonetheless.
I am a squat and I’m diggin’ a hole, diggy diggy hole, for the Em-per-ore⚒
“The Kin have no relation to ye descendants of Terra!”
_Administratum cleric eyes League Parliament_
“You sure about that?”
Doing the Emperor's work of gaining knowledge of potential enemies of man.
I wonder how the man of iron UR-025 would react to being amongst the leagues of Votann. I suspect he would greatly enjoy communicating with their leagues’ Votann.
Things I need to know... A) Will there be chaos corrupted ones in time? B) how big will their hats be ?
So far, the kin are very resistant to both mutations and chaos possession, as they have very dim souls and use barrier tech to interact with the Warp. This barrier tech means that their psykers don't actually channel the warp directly making it hard for demonic possession to occur.
That being said, there are Votann AI who have gone insane, and its entirely possible a Votann itself could get possesed (the Ancestor Cores have a warp signature and can be seen in the Warp, despite being purely machine). I could see an Votann creating its own Chaos Dorfs.
Old squat lore says that most of the leagues joined up with horus
Massive hats.
@@DrMetropolisThat would be cool af
Occulus Gold. This was wonderful. Thank you.
We have Space Demons, Space Elves, Space Vampires and Space Werewolves within the 40k Universe- why not Space Dwarves as well?
Love when someone just talks on lore and gives tidbits and homemade quotes instead of roleplaying and or just reading the codexs verbatim
I’m loving the Leagues!! But there’s just something so cool and silly about the old Squats lol
Kerch Bridge gets destroy and a new Oculus episode! Hell yeah!
U sir, have a terrific narrator voice! Could listen to this for hours =)
Quite simply superb
Praise be to the emperor I happened apon such exacting , concise and extremely accurate depictions, descriptions and lore as you present in your content .
Most righteously explained with such pleasing narration and cadence . Most enjoyable in extremis. O.M . G
I'm already a big fan of the Leagues of votann I kinda like how not grimdark they are they are a good toy to add to the sandbox of 40k possible fixes and forward momentum for the setting may come from their introduction
Love your work, you and Baldermort have my favorite presentation styles.
The tone of these lessons has darkened since the eruption of the Great Rift. Hope is never lost my wonderful Chronicler.
Eldar titan clans and exodite Knight- households please!
First bit of new lore I’ve really loved 🥰 great job as always , and good job JW more please 🙏
When I first got word of The Leagues of Votan I had concerns that they would be not very cool. From what I gather here... they pretty cool.
Spectacularly high quality content, as usual. Bravo. 👏
Been waiting for this one thank you occulus imperia
Splendid stuff 👍
I think the background singers are singing about this guys jar of Grey Poupon and how Dreadful this grim world is
