The way the gang defeats the vampire bit beast by forming a cross gets even funnier when you find out that canonically, Moses used a Beyblade to part the red sea
So...is beyblade just our world but with tops? Like, did the colonization of America happen through bey battles and trading of beyblade parts? Are there serial killers but they use beyblades?!
I actually thought that Kai's "relapse" made sense. Think about it like this. During the last two arcs, there was something very "personal" at stake for Max and Ray. Ray had to confront his old teammates and Max had to confront his mother. Here, there wasn't anything "personal" at all for anyone. Kai's consideration seems to be active when something personal is involved, but without it, Kai doesn't have a reason to be kind.

I figurd Kai refused the battle because he thought Tyson needed a win to stabilize his self confidence. But he can't just say it because he's emotionally constipated.
Or something more obvious? He was working on his new Beyblade which he completed and showed the episode after they got stranded in the tunnel. He could have been fronting. Either is credible.
I really like the Europe arc and how it shows how strong the bonds between the Bladebreakers has become. The scene where Max gives Kai the go-ahead to blade is a great callback to Kai doing the same for Max in the America arc. Also, I enjoy how casually full of themselves the Europe team is, haha!
in the original manga this was the arc that showed off Kai vs Robert... in the actual original manga for the first season they each have a high point Tyson - wins the Japan Tournament and joins the bladebreakers Ray - defeats his inner demons and settles things with his former friends Max - defeats his mom and her super team of American Bladers Kai - defeats Robert after also improving and training after his defeat to get revenge at the end In the anime they changed it just because they wanted to cheer Tyson on more even though Europe was meant to be Kai's victory arc
@@calebmccarthy454 I think it works better in anime. After Europe arc you think that nothing can stop BladeBreakers but then there's last arc with Kai leaving, Black Dranzer, painful defeats of All Starz and White Tigers and stealing bit-beasts.
I've always loved the way this arc starts. Having Tyson lose pretty hard just after the team overcame what felt like a mountain with the All Stars did a great job in reeling them in and making them think about where they stand. Doubly so when Kai loses to Johnny later.
IIRC Kai never really took these guys seriously as opponents so in that moment with Kenny he never really thought they were going to follow through with their threats and do anything at all. He was so above them in that moment and he thought it was all just BS. That's how I read it anyway :)
In the Japanese version, the Dark Bladers were salty over Sacred Beasts being unfair and sold their souls to a DEMON for dark powers. They'll kill every Sacred Beast in the world because fuck you, you didn't win. They later get so convinced by the power of friendship that they go after shitty Beast owners instead.
In regards to Tyson and co. being surprised somebody recognizes them in Europe, I think its because Beyblade is closer to MMA than Soccer or Basketball in terms of popularity. MMA in the early 2000s was selling out stadiums in Japan, Russia, Brazil and other countries but they were very disconnected from each other. With the top fighters only being famous in their home countries. The sport was in that weird grey area where it was mainstream but somehow underground at the same time. Beyblade Season 1 could be the same thing. Heck they both take off in roughly the same years. Robert as the undisputed best European Beyblader who was ignoring the World Championship scene is the same as several undefeated, popular MMA fighters not giving a shit about joining the UFC.
I mean, there's a chaos beyblade(the og god that created basically the entire world aka Gaia the earth, ouranos the sky and no, I wil not make a uranu-, Tartarus the pit or literal hell, Pontos the sea and a lot of other gods), so it's not out of reach to think beyblade could also just make a god beyblade

Great arc. One of my favorite because of the change up. This one does shows how each one got stronger but also proving that they still have a long way to go even Kai needs to get better. I like that because we can see with more of this in the next arc with Kai.
This arc made me want my own "Werewolf beyblade" because I was so hooked on the show. Looking back, even if I was a bit older at the time, I honestly wouldn't have regretted having it on my shelf these days.
Interesting thing about “Silver Drigger”, the white tiger of the west (which Drigger represents) in Asian mythology, is connected to the metal element.
After finding out it was Mr. Dickenson that got them into the situation as part of a secret training plan I always assumed it was him who sent them the VHS tape, but it’s been so long since I’ve watched the show I can’t actually remember if it’s ever addressed again. Though I think V-Force establishes he once studied Bit Beasts so who knows, maybe he’s worked with Tyson’s dad at some point.
this arc showed how out their league the team was just watching Robert's battle against Tyson on the boat showed how it is to the group and don't get me started Enrique and Johnny
I loved this arc and the Majestics Beys have little toy Bitbeasts come with their irl blades was always so cool to me. Really gave them an extra boost of flavour on and off the screen!
Also I will add they missed a trick with selection of European bit beasts. Scotlands national animal is the Unicorn, or of course there is the Loch Ness Monster. France could have been a gargoyle or something. I don’t know much about Italian or German mythical beasts but the Hydra was more associated with Greece and Hercules than Italy I thought.
Just a little consideration from an Italian: the power beast of the Italian blade is not an Hydra, but an “anphisbena”, a mythical creature born from the blood of Medusa after Perseus killed her and he was flying over the Lybia desert back to Greece. However, you have to consider that Roman mythology is strictly related to the Greek one, in fact a lot of themes, heroes and myths are just the same or very similar and reinvented just around the Roman culture. The “Anphisbena” was also mentioned by “Plinio il vecchio” (it means the old), a Roman scientist and writer that died during the eruption of Pompei in 79BC, in his opera “Naturalis historia”. The Anphisbena is also in the Hell of “Divina Commedia”, probably the most important poem of the middle are written by Dante Alighieri, an italian poet from Florence. I think that Anphisbena was chosen from the authors of the series to make more evident the duality of the italian blader(which name in the italian dub is “Gianni Tornatore”, a very stereotypical name for an italo-american gangster😂): he hangs out with two girls at the same time, he is afflictedby the idea of destroying Tyson but then he kindly offers him a rematch, he’s one of the first european to agree to come back sa a team… The Anphisbena is pretty esplicative for his nature. I hope you could find me comment interesting, have a good day!
The Majestics always stood out as the coolest kids around in the original 2000 show, so it was sad to see what happened to them in G-Revolution. Even in the Russian arc, they were essentially plan B if the Bladebreakers didn't get the job done, which I thought was nice as it showed they were indeed still a formidable group and accepted that they would have to be a team to fight. But it's good to see someone else recognizes that Kai was always supposed to be way ahead of his teammates for most of this season. He only put in the effort when he thought it was a worthwhile opponent or when there was no other choice, and didn't waste time taking everybody on like the other Bladebreakers. He was consistently saving their bacon and had the plan/advice to win things. It's clear why he wasn't included in the Asian and American tournaments (beyond the thematic narrative); he'd have guaranteed a win and removed all the drama. Him losing to Johnny was the first time the whole team had to step back and realize even their best player wasn't invincible.
This arc was top tier. Back in the day when Hasbro was releasing the Hidden Spirits subline of Beyblades, my family was vacationing over in Prince Edward Island and I managed to snag Salamalyon at a local store. It was my first ever model kit I ever built since the figure it came included with had to be put together by hand rather than just be included. I guess that's why I became addicted to plastic crack as I got older (ie gunpla, mecha model kits, etc) Shame they never revisited the concept of the mini-model kit/figure combined with the Beyblade themselves. If they did, I'd probably be still grabbing them.
I love that you mentioned the 'entry level model kit' element of Beyblade! I feel the same way, and though I never became BIG into Gunpla or anything, I fondly remember opening up Beyblade boxes, popping the pieces out of the grid, and assembling them on my own!
This series is so good, thank you for doing them. I hope they do well enough for you to continue on with V Force and G Rev. I know V Force kinda slumps a bit, but would love to hear your thoughts on the rest of the BladeBreakers' story.
I liked that this Arc was a bit different and went away from the tournament focused feel of the previous ones. I feel like seeing the Bladebreakers tour Europe let us get to know them as characters a little more. Seeing what they all got up to individually in Paris etc. The Euro bladers also seemed like a massive step up in terms of power for our protagonists to deal with. Oliver in particular I found to be quite interesting.

I love the classic horror monster themed blades, and them having the traditional weaknesses associated with those monsters is neat. I kinda wish they'd done more with them, but on the other hand, them being goofy goobers is funny too sooo I'm conflicted 😂
The Dark Bladers had so much wasted potential, I remember them showing up at the last possible second during the Russian arc and wondering why they even bothered. Like, _just_ as Tyson is going into his match and not at any point where they could've helped him train or anything like that, just "dibs when he dies" and sticking around for the final celebration.
Honestly, this whole Arc was the most fun I had I mean like you said abbreviate from the traditional tournament setting and doing something like what Pokemon did. Also the Dark Bladers were pretty fun.
So somethings to note about Robert/Ralf in the japanese is when it came to battles he wins he considers them death matches and doesn't believe in rematches, the Majestics are essentially a foil to the Blade breakers where they have the strength with their bit beast but the key difference was them not having a proper understanding in teamwork as they viewed it as weak and even looking down on those weaker than them like the Monstar team, which is why they got a hatred for the bit beasts until realizing after the matches between the blade breakers and the Majestics they actually just hate the Majestics for how much they were assholes while the Blade breakers were actually chill, would have tried fighting them and "Killing them" but after Robert's rematch with Tyson he saw the old Robert die and wasn't worth revenge anymore.
@@thedigiknow it was hilarious, was combing through the comments section too throughout the video for the same thing. Keep it up! Very excited for the fifth season, that's gonna be a rollercoaster
As crazy as this arc is it really doesnt hold a candle to the entirety of v force. I cant remember when v force seemed normal. A rewatch is needed i guess 😂

always thought enrique was awesome when i was a kid! really good arc! I wish the majestics were in G revolution more. How would you all rank, Robert, Michael, Lee and Tala? In terms of strongest to weakest
I did make a couple MedaBots videos already, which I'm sure you can find by searching Medabots + TheDigiKnow in UA-cam! They're not full series reviews like this, but hopefully you enjoy.
I'm rewatching the series in japanese and it's interesting how the dub changed certain plot points. Them facing off at the end was not about taking a spot in the tournament, the whole arc was a setup by the Chairman to make the team stronger. Seems a bit contrived but I think that man is omniscient at this point.
Americanizing characters' is one of the most glaring changes, especially when you realize their Japanese. It's not like Pokemon that takes place in its own fantasy world.
I just found this review series and I’m just glad you’re giving the show a fair shot. There’s a few good reviews out there, but it feels that they’ve only come out relatively recently compared to other similar-ish IPs. I’ve watched the original 3 seasons 5 times (3 dubbed and 2 subbed) and it’s cool that even now through other people’s experiences I’m still discovering new things about the show. Actually, I kind of want to talk to people like you about this topic. Not sure if there’s a way to contact you or if you even want to talk, but I’ve researched the original Beyblade series and want to discover more. That leads into this question, where did you get your sources from? I assume you watched both the dub and sub and might use the fandom wiki. However, I don’t know if it’s your style or you didn’t find it interesting, but I feel there’s a lot of details you’ve been missing/may not of understood, both dubbed and subbed. Just thought I’d ask because there’s a lot more to the original run of Beyblade you haven’t touched such as the manga the show is based off of as well as the GameBoy game, which is the prototype story for the show as well. Like, you didn’t mention Tyson’s Japanese name is Takao and he gets that name because of the artist who conceptualized him, Takao Aoki. Or that the show’s Japanese score was done by Yoshihisa Hirano who worked on things like FF7, Hunter X Hunter, Death Note… Okay, I’ll stop. Uh, yeah, let me know if you want to chat or something. Also, perfectly okay if that’s not your thing. Have a great day and I look forward to your next video!
I think it's awesome that you're interested in digging deeper into the original run, but to quote your final paragraph, "it's not my thing" :) I will be the first to admit my videos are a surface level review of the series. I am not too interested in deep diving to the extent that you are describing. Good luck though! The show rules.
@@thedigiknow Hey, thanks for the reply! Yeah, I respect your decision and appreciate the sentiments. One thing I always believed in is that the show was more than what the naysayers gave it credit for and it did have passion put into it. So somethings to note about Robert/Ralf in the japanese is when it came to battles he wins he considers them death matches and doesn't believe in rematches, the Majestics are essentially a foil to the Blade breakers where they have the strength with their bit beast but the key difference was them not having a proper understanding in teamwork as they viewed it as weak and even looking down on those weaker than them like the Monstar team, which is why they got a hatred for the bit beasts until realizing after the matches between the blade breakers and the Majestics they actually just hate the Majestics for how much they were assholes while the Blade breakers were actually chill, would have tried fighting them and "Killing them" but after Robert's rematch with Tyson he saw the old Robert die and wasn't worth revenge anymore.
the beyblade videos are great because i am not even watching the series but your videos are still interesting
its possible that the BBA was the one that sent the VHS to the team, because its possible they hired Mr. Granger to look into the Sacred Spirits.
Looking forward to the next review.
I can’t wait for you to cover v force and grevolution.
LET'S BEYBLADE!!!
Johnny is deadass related to jinga
Bro your commentry is great. Cover Beyblade G revolution too. That was the best Beyblade series all time
Im crying with that echoe-y voice whenever the monstars talk 😂😂
lmao thank you, nobody commented on it until now and i thought it was so funny :P
@@thedigiknow it was hilarious, was combing through the comments section too throughout the video for the same thing. Keep it up! Very excited for the fifth season, that's gonna be a rollercoaster
I like this series I think you should continue this series the next arc is good and with v force Kai is still a peak character there
Wait, Robert's a kid? I thought he was supposed to be like....28 or something.
Which is kind of weird in it's own regard, but I digress.
I always thought he was in his late teens 16/17
I saw some bayblade as a kid and the only parts I remember are the silver coin tiger and the bayblade cross.
Can’t wait for Russia arc
Great video, thanks bro
10:18 lmao what was that montage
I USED TO PUT COINS ON MY BAYBLADES!!! forgot it came from the anime lmao
As crazy as this arc is it really doesnt hold a candle to the entirety of v force. I cant remember when v force seemed normal. A rewatch is needed i guess 😂
Haha in the original script I made some speculative comments about V Force but since I haven’t watched it in 20 years (yet) I decided to leave that section out until I know what I’m talking about
@@thedigiknowV-Force is beyond wild, to the point that in G- revolution it seems like they pretend it never happened
Literally the reaosn why I love v force lol
0:16 even in beyblade christ is lord
always thought enrique was awesome when i was a kid! really good arc! I wish the majestics were in G revolution more. How would you all rank, Robert, Michael, Lee and Tala? In terms of strongest to weakest
Once you finish Beyblade, I hope you continue with Medabots next. Those two were my favorites!
I did make a couple MedaBots videos already, which I'm sure you can find by searching Medabots + TheDigiKnow in UA-cam! They're not full series reviews like this, but hopefully you enjoy.
Are you gonna cover beyblade v-force and grevolution when you finish OG beyblade??
🤐
@@thedigiknow yes please!
oh i cant wait for you to react to the russians in beyblades you will laugh a lot
i mean to be fair, their bit beasts are very majestic
True 😍
I enjoy your videos
great vid!
Silver Drigger was so awesome
Driger.
Man! The Europe Arc sounds fun but NUTS!
Or that the show’s Japanese score was done by Yoshihisa Hirano who worked on things like FF7, Hunter X Hunter, Death Note…
Okay, I’ll stop. Uh, yeah, let me know if you want to chat or something. Also, perfectly okay if that’s not your thing. Have a great day and I look forward to your next video!
I think it's awesome that you're interested in digging deeper into the original run, but to quote your final paragraph, "it's not my thing" :)
I will be the first to admit my videos are a surface level review of the series.
I think your experience regardless of whether you like the show or not proves this notion. So, thank you!
It's one of my favourite arcs!
Best part of the series honestly.
I loved this arch when I first started watching the og series
I recall these "monster bit beasts" were just so cool and I wanted real world versions of their blades so bad and I feel it was a huge missed opportunity not making them.
