I have a 2007 YZ450F and i really appreciate these videos. I refuse to pay anyone else to do my work when you explain how to do it so well. Seriously, thank you from Brockville Ontario!
Dude this is awesome. I have the same attitude, and I really care for and treat my things like they are the last on the planet. No way can I let a shop work on my gear. Glad to help, but as always, do your own research always. Nobody is 💯 perfect. Thanks for watching brother!!!
Same story here bro. I've just about re built my same bike with these videos.
That’s awesome! I love that it’s helping you guys out.
@@DanMX2112 youre the man Dan. Should hear the pro circuit exhaust on that 07 yz450f. Fun bike.
Been wanting one on mine for some time! Maybe I’ll find one and just get it.
Another top class video
Thanks this is a great help
Thanks bro, appreciate the love!
When your pulling the bolts for the cam chain guide stuff some rags down in the bottom of the engine ive dropped them down there and had to fish them out
Haha I have too my guy, sucks going fishing, it’s the only fishing that stresses me out!
Another great video. I particularly like the detailed explanation you give of each step, which is so useful for anyone attempting this work for the first time. 👍
Maestro!
Great video I appreciate your eye for detail. My 450s motor is making a knocking sound on the right side mid cylinder. I was thinking, maybe wrist pin bearing? I don’t know a lot about rebuilding motors. Do you know how I can verify this or what your thoughts might be regarding what to check for as I take it apart?
Thank you
Steve
They done have bearings, just a tolerance fit pin. It possibly could be the issue. No way to tell without tearing it down.
Thanks for the kind words btw, I appreciate the positivity Steve!
Love the video man, also how can I print that paper out that you used for the valve buckets?
Dm me on Instagram with your email, I’ll send it your way!
Hey! can I get a copy of that paper as well please?
Hey,
I want to change the 3 seals on the cylinder of the yz450 2005 and wanted to ask whether I should buy expensive and original ones or whether Athena, for example, also serves its purpose?
I would run OEM, you can’t go wrong. Many aftermarket are good, but you never know if you’re taking a gamble.
fantastic video man! thank you for posting it
Thanks for watching Matt! Glad you enjoyed it!
Adding a smaller shim would make the gap bigger. Why would you want to stay on the high side of the tolerance if the buckets are going to wear and then make the gap be bigger than the tolerance? Wouldn't it be better to shoot for the lower end or middle of the tolerance?
Stay on the high side of the tolerance due to the valves wearing into the head, therefore receding and closing the gap between the bucket and the cam. Hope that makes sense. The buckets or valve shims don’t wear at all.
You could get a new exhaust cam shaft to tighten the tolerance back to oem right ?
The cam shaft does not wear out, it’s the valves on the head. The only wear you will see on the cams will be teeth wear and a slight bit of love wear. The head is aluminum so it will wear in the journals before the cam ever will. Hope this clears up and answers your question. If not let me know.
18:43😂 got busted up... thats what happens when you start trying to use that mescan speed wrench on things
lol good times, but it runs and runs well!
How do you keep the 2006 so clean looking? Is there a certain products or routines?
Go check out my bike wash video, you’ll be surprised. Dawn dish soap, pressure washer, and aluminum cleaner every couple of washes.
Try shout laundry stain remover in the spray bottle and the red "rust free" sos pads. Shout is an awesome degreaser, and it's non abrasive, so it won't hurt the aluminum and plastics . The sos pads will get your frame, swing arm engine, spokes, etc, looking new again. I'm about to tackle this rebuild thanks to Daniel's video and saw an opportunity to help. Give it a try, you will be amazed.
Where do you order your replacement kits from?
Rocky Mountain ATVMC
What size ball hone did you use?
54mm Brush Research Flex Hone
Where can I get that shim and bucket sheet for the 06 yz450f?
Would this be the same as an '05 WR450F?.. Ty...
Yep, engine is nearly identical. Just adjust your valves to spec for the WR.
@@DanMX2112 My '05 runs perfect not sure if I should be a good Altar boy and replace the piston, rings and bearing preventatively or just wait till something blows if and when that ever happens lol. I'm just a light trail rider not a racer.
Light trails, just adjust valves and let her eat. Do top end around 100-150 hours.
@@DanMX2112what's the valve clearance for WR?
Where is list for material and parts
All OEM, Yamaha top end gasket kit, piston, rings kit, cam chain, wrist pin, and you should be good.
im a t hours since fresh rebuild still a1 but i aint tryna do all dat😂
Say what lol 😂
@@DanMX2112 😂 im at the 50 hour mark i said after the rebuild but i noticed dirt build up past the filter😑 i hope it aint been gettin inside my motor
Will this work for a 2005
Yes sir, just double check your specs, ring gap, valves, etc…
