aqueenwaits I saw the Broadway version this summer, and I was afraid I would be disappointed, because I didn't think anything could live up to my expectations, based on this version. Well, I absolutely loved the show and had a most wonderful theater experience! They totally changed the script, but the songs were the same. A very different production, but also fabulous in its own way, and I discovered that it is possible for me to love both of them. (Now I've got myself thinking of the "Impossible/It's Possible" song from this show!) This 1965 version will always be my favorite too, though. It brings back such a flood of happy childhood memories, and I love the way they worked the story part in this script too. I don't enjoy either the Julie Andrews or the Brandy version nearly as much, although I'm a fan of Julie Andrews as well.
Same with me!!!! I miss Stuart Damon (the prince). 😥 May he Rest In Peace! Leslie Ann Warren is ALWAYS amazing, as well. She starred in Disney’s “The Happiest Millionaire” & “Clue”; so if you haven't seen these 2 classic films yet, try to find them! 👌 ❤️
You should watch the one with Julie Andrews and John Cypher!!!!!!! It’s so much more touching and believable and it has charming in every way, it has depth, too!!!!!!!! You will LOVE it!!!!!! It’s the absolute best version ever!!!!!! And they did it in one take - live for television…
I’m 64. I always tell my family, back when we had no way of recording movies, my parents and grandparents would work our schedules to see Cinderella. It was an event. This is by far the best version of Cinderella.
Stuart was so very handsome as the prince! ...and I loved Leslie Ann's performance! (as well as Ginger Rogers and the man who played the King! ) BRAVO!!!!
The waltz is the most romantic dance I have ever seen. Stuart dancing with Lesley Ann are the most beautiful couple ever. They are absolutely stunning!!!💕 It's my favorite scene in the whole movie🏰
@sondrasmith2691: Are you blind, deaf and stupid?? THIS is a remake of the classic 1957 version with Julie Andrews which is SUPERIOR to this version in casting, screenplay and performances. Check that version before making a comment you can’t support! 😊
Tears stream down my face now as I hear these words sung again. Such were the charms of my childhood, as we shared this year after year - our whole family would sing along and laugh and cry. What a wonder this has been for us...and for so many and for so many years . TRULY - one of the most beautiful shows and this production the most delightful and magical presentation of ALL. Lesley Ann Warren, you will live on in the hearts of so many millions. You made this special part of my youth so beautiful. Thank you.
Same with me!!! Brings back wonderful memories of a simpler, magical time in my life. I had a vivid imagination. I really believed in Santa Clause and all the other Christmas stuff. I'm almost 63, and I still long for something else besides just mundane everyday life.
I"ll be 65 years next month. I can still remember waiting for days, then hours , just to watch this beautiful version of "Cinderella." It seems like yesterday. Thank you Rogers & Hammerstein ~ Beverly .Celis
Today is June 29, 2021. Stuart Damon passed away today. I felt compelled to listen to this, my favorite song from the TV musical. This show birthed a great love for musicals in me. --- Thanks for sharing, Jennifer.
Few times in cinematic history that the male lead's waist was smaller than the female's. But in all seriousness, this is one of the best presentations of any TV made for move EVER and stands the test of time. How lovely was Leslie Ann Warren and what a great name? how handsome was Stuart Damon? This was a time when we had very good entertainment coming across the three networks. These days we have nothing but adverts. How great were these two? And they didn't have the autotune voice stuff then. So, the singing was real and they could actually sing and dance.
@@dwcushman1 she's amazing in that one as well. It's a Disney musical made just a tiny bit after this, it was actually the first thing I saw her in as a young girl.
I remember watching this with my mom and sister when I was 7. I fell instantly in love with them and watched it every February with mom that they aired it. Loved everything about this version. No matter what people will say today, it's every little girl's dream ! I had 3 girls, when they were little I found the VHS version and we watched it. Now that they are grown up, I hope they feel those loving feelings.
I remember watching this on TV when I was 6 or 7. It was magical! I still sing this song in the shower. What an amazing memory, what an amazing cast! ❤🎉😊
I still know it by heart. Funny how I find myself randomly singing this song for no reason but it makes me happy. I see so many of us in our 60's are here with the same comments & memories!
I remember watching this with my mother when I was 8 years. Although I do like the other new versions I have to say this one holds a very special memory and reminds me of my mother.
My favorite of all time. Everyone was perfectly cast. Lesley’s voice was magic and she truly looked like a princess. Stuart was so handsome and my nine year old self at that time had her first crush. So blessed to be a child back then and experience this magic
I was 8 when I watched this the first time. At that time there was no such thing as dvds so we had to wait for it to come out to watch again. I think I sat in front of the television and dreamt I was her. Of course I’m all grown up now and this is still and forever will be my very favorite Cinderella of ALL time. I sing along. I love it.
Watched it in the 80s as a child, I remember how amazed I was with the long neck of Cinderella and it's becoming my standard of beauty at the time and I I realized that I have a short big neck and feeling ugly and then becoming insecure child because of it. 😂 Love this movie!
The prince was fantastic, no doubt, but he was also almost 10 years older than her. In any event, the chemistry between the two of them was a thing of beauty.
Still gives me chills. I was a 5 yr old girls sitting entranced in front of the tv. It was that night I fell in love with musicals, and Stuart Damon :)
Thanks for posting. This is my favorite Cinderella version. I remember watching it as a little girl and falling in love with the Prince! OMG, was he good looking, and he had a decent singing voice, too. And I always remember Lesley Ann Warren as Cinderella. She was such a tiny girl but a perfect Cinderella!
I ran into her the other day and she was so surprised I remembered her as Cinderella! I was like - who could forget you! I loved this number and her as Cinderella:)
I watched this with my Mom and sister when it first aired in 1965 and could not wait for it to repeat each year. I got the DVD a few years ago ans still enjoy it..and yes I sing along. lol
Of all the Cinderellas this one's the best, I've watched this movie for fifty-seven years and still well up when she lifts the bottom of her dress fleeing the ballroom at midnight😥
the GREAT Rodgers and Hammerstein just kinda threw this one out for a TV special...my GOSH- so many amazing iconic songs....I loved it and still do !!!!!
I was SO EXCITED when this came on TV in the 1960's. When my daughter was small, in the late 1990's I was thrilled to buy this on DVD, She loved it, of course, and watched it repeatedly. It's amusing to look back at the costumes and sets. Now we are used to lavish and realistic production values on TV and film ... but this is a wonderful example of how some paint and simple structures enhance the fairytale quality of the play. It's obvious that it's a play! I think it's easier for the children in the audience to imagine themselves in the story this way, to pretend that their bedrooms are castles, etc. I know I felt that way when I was a girl!
It's always interesting to look back and see how talented some actors really are. Lesley Ann Warren can sing very well, but the stand-out here is Stuart Damon's vocals.
This will always be my favorite Cinderella .I remember watching this every year .waiting so patently for it to air on tv .Stewart Damein and Lesley Ann Warren were it back then.still are in my book .Thank you Rogers and Hammerstein for this so truly magical version of Cinderella..I always thought this would be me one day .so real
The Julie Andrews version was fun but I love this version so much more! Leslie Ann Warren is perfect for the role because she is just a teenager herself and adorable.
Rodgers had a wonderful knack with waltzes -- this one, and "Edelweiss," "The Carousel Waltz," ""Out Of My Dreams," "Falling in Love with Love," "Hello, Young Lovers," and so forth...
I and my 2 sisters grew up with this musical and I've been a fan since. I always be ...I'm a little girl again ,and again and ever 🥰🤗... I've always been a " Cinderella " and a princess ❤️ too ...more than " 10 minutes" ...🤗
Everytime i watch this movie over and over i am whisked, away into a beautiful and magical world as,Lesley ann warren sings,a world of excitement and adventure and romance . My patents introduced me to this version when was a toddler and too this day its still favorite version. .
Me, too.. I was eight the first time .. but watched it year after year. . just found this.. I sometimes forget what I went in the kitchen for, but amazingly remember the words to all songs.. lol.. happy memories
Yes all of us when we find out that the prince is Alan Quartermain are very impressed after seeing him in this first then as Alan Quartermain and then later to see this again years later to see that he's the Prince in this.
My tomboy self will never have that kind of grace. Then again only one could glide down a staircase as though she was walking on clouds... Which she proves with her entrance to the ball.
Thank you for this! I'm 40 and this movie has delighted me since I was a little girl. This song takes me back and brings the largest smile to my face to this day. This is the best version!
Rip Stuart Damon I missed him so much I watch him General hospital Alan qruateriamne he sing that at nurse's ball he amazing voice ever and best actor ever rip goodbye and goodnight reast in peace amen Stuart Damon

Yep, same age, and I adore this version that I grew up with. They were both so adorable.

All us cousins who lived close to each other would get together and see Cinderella in one house. Our favorite movie!! ❤
The casting of Cinderella, Leslie Ann Warren and the Prince was a perfect fit.
This Is the best Cinderella ever made. I Seen this many YEARS ago. I am 64 Year's Old now going to be 65 in May and this is the best
RIP Stuart Damon. I loved watching this Rodgers & Hammerstein Cinderella when I was a kid.
Stuart was so very handsome as the prince! ...and I loved Leslie Ann's performance! (as well as Ginger Rogers and the man who played the King! ) BRAVO!!!!
@@suzannebenz8928 The King is played in this version by Walter Pidgeon.
Thanks song writers some tunes
I would recognize Alan Quartermaine anywhere. 🔥
The waltz is the most romantic dance I have ever seen. Stuart dancing with Lesley Ann are the most beautiful couple ever. They are absolutely stunning!!!💕 It's my favorite scene in the whole movie🏰
This is my favorite vision of Cinderella no matter what happens
Cinderella & the Prince Charming will be getting married
No matter how many different versions of Cinderellas they make, this one will always be the very best!
No re-make can top this version! Timeless!

I'll never forget Mr. Damon's haunting rendition of "Loneliness of Evening", which Rodgers & Hammerstein had originally written for 'South Pacific'.
Born in 1960....This is the highlight of my entire childhood......
This was the perfect version of Cinderella. Lesley was so lovely.
R.I.P. Stuart Damon, you were the best Prince in any version of 'Cinderella'.

There's just a simple innocence to this version that none of the others capture. Probably always be my favourite.

I can proudly say this is the only version I would ever watch. Childhood favorite. In my humble opinion, the only Cinderella and Prince.
