Bruce has mastered his playing technique to the point where he makes playing Chop Suey look like he is playing chill jazz. It's amazing to see just how little energy he is actually putting into his hands, but how great the kit sounds when he hits it.
I just turned 50 and I was contemplating about putting away the drums thinking I'm too old to do it but...I just saw this video and maybe it's not too late to give it one last fling! Awesome job btw! Thank you for the inspiration!
I'm 48 and can finally get seriously into it couldn't when I was a kid then I had kids now I'm single have the time and the money you're never too old bud.
Are you crazy? You're never too old. In fact the older you get the better you get because typically your taste in music appreciates through the years. Just tell your wife and kids to move out if they don't like it.
I love the concept that playing the drums should be like a dance, not a fight. This video is the perfect example of that. Graceful performance of a heavy song.
Once you play drums, it haunts you! You want to beat that drum, it's all a drum, everything is a stick. You want to feel that balance, that stick in your hand. Sod air-guitar, just drum. Drum on it all, drum drum drum.
I always enjoy the expressions on older musicians' faces. They speak of heart and soul, and dedication, both emotional and physical, and it's beautiful honestly!
I'm not a drummer expert but a notice this. Altough he is playing all notes perfectly, his moves are so smooth and clean that it looks he is playing a chilling/relaxing music.
It's people like Bruce that made me pick up a new bass and start to learn something new at 43. I'm realistic in knowing i will never reach that level of mastery, but i'm gonna give it my all!
There is something very special about this video. I wasn't a big fan of the band or this song yet here I am watching this again. Maybe it's the lightheartedness way about it. I don't know but I'm grateful to you guys for putting it together.
I know absolutely nothing about playing drums except it must take an extraordinary amount of coordination, timing, practice and talent to play like this.
Just tap your foot to one beat then try and hit something with your hand to a different beat. 2 foot taps per second and 1 hand hit per second is impossible for me I can't even imagine using every other limb.
This is one of few drum beats for me (as someone that doesn't play drums) i find more powerful than anything else on the track (which says a LOT) I understand the drums are in charge but usually they take a sort of back seat, where as this they are front and centre. Splitting ear drums from the get go. And i love it
Piano players often make it look like they're fingering sweet sweet love the them keys. This man just passionately smashed the dang heck out of Soad, very cool
when i go to other covers, although good, its just not as yummy as this. im not a musician so what do i know... edit: i just realized what it is. Its the opening roll. Bruce's version is the best one there is. all other covers just fail in comparison.
Happy 60th Birthday, Bruce, from all of us at Drumeo!
Drumeo, what earphones he is using?
Happy b-day Bruce, from Serbia
Happy birthday! 🎂
Thank you to all who watched and commented and Big Thank you to The Drumeo Team!!
Great! Happy birthday, from Brazil. Good video!

User6497 wtf do you mean wtf he’s absolutely right especially with the wife and kids you never get between a man and his drums

No man! Fuck that! New metal is played with feeling. Not with wet Hans lol

The drum keys falling out of his pockets was a great idea!
For me, that was hilarious
Diatonic5th definitely wasn’t in the pocket that time
Why didn't you leave the drum keys on the table
That whole intro was creative af

You can see that his technique is perfect. Stick just floats in his hand.
this was the thing that struck me the most. Accomplishing the metal tone, without any extra motion or over-exertion
Just like what Ringo Starr uses

@@Irwingcomoto yea hes not playing the song correctly the majority of the time, still good tho
Dewey76207 thats the good thing about covers: they dont need to be exactly like the original

Drumeo: Youwantedto!

Happy 60th Bruce. Remember, that's just 15 bars of 4!
Or 4 bars of 15/4
I think he has been to more than 15 bars, they drank a lot back when he was young.

Watching veterans like Bruce being so open minded is just pure gold.
I didnt know proffesor X can play drums damn.

Had the same idea about posting this comment haha!
Or Captain Picard for that matter
Captain Picard celebrating after he sent few photon torpedoes on those Klingons.
Nothing warms the cockles of my heart like an old timer playing some alt-metal.
For real.

I just discovered that Mike Ehrmantraut plays drums and the best is that he likes System of A Down !
Haha Bruce could be a Mike E
double on Better Call Saul
He took a full measure
Exactly. I thought it was mike from the thumbnail
“I’ll handle it”.
I have always been blown away by their drummer from day 1. Amazing cover

I don't know but I'm grateful to you guys for putting it together.
I'm glad there are drummers out there covering sick ass drum songs on youtubes. I love seeing how its done. Not like a music video. Good shit, holmes.
He doesn't look sixty at all. So much energy and enthusiasm. Really inspiring. A very happy birthday!!
Can we all appreciate the sound, EQ, and tone of that drum set..... amazing.
He walks drums, drinks drums, speaks drums, eat drums. HE LIVES DRUMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😂😂
To be the best you have to live your craft! :)
@@DrumeoOfficial I am not teasing him, i am amazed of him

the kit sounds amazing, the performance was tight AF too, congrats and happy birthday!
This is why you learn the fundamentals first kids. Man's technique is flawless.
So much soul in his playing! Love it!
I love how you're playing the second snare hit as a ghost note

This was so elegant!!! I don't know the first thing about drumming but this... Is... A beautiful sight. 😍
Happy blessed birthday Bruce. You're still a young man!
Tight cover and fabulous solid sound.
That right hand control and consistency is sick!🔥👌
wow, his energy is still there, one of my favourite song~
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRUCE!!!!!
This has to be the drummer for that band that I cannot for the life of me remember! OR. this is drummer who's easy better than I! Loved it
System of a Down!
Bruce makes the drums tell an emotional story. One that is set apart, yet adds to the original song.
Very very smooth and clean
Yes more system of a down please👍
And happy birthday Bruce
The mix off that kit is crispy. Love the bass drum it’s solid
This dude has skill great stick work and control 🎵🎶😄👍🏼

It’s like watching a conductor on the drums. *goosebumps*
A simplicidade é tudo.
Parabéns!!
The foot work is so flawless
George carlin is just bad ass in everything he does! Great cover.
Drumeo are so amazing, they brought George Carlin back from the dead so he could play drums.
I came here looking for this comment xD
Awesome! That moves are so eco and precise at the same time. You are just like a conductor commanding an percussion orchestra to make sounds.
I really enjoyed your interpretation of this song. Your cymbals sound amazing I especially like the way thay ride sounds 😎
Bro he is so nice with it man
great cover man
flawless
Brilliant!! The intro was great as well...
hats off to you mr. bruce becker...

Yo Bru happy Bday! Great vid. Kickin a** while lookin so relaxed and flewid!
This song came out the exact day I was born, and Bruce is playing this for his birthday so I think I have something in common with such a nice drummer
Chop suey is like the wonder wall of drums
i waited through the whole video, just for it to be on the final stroke. a great showman knows what we want and to hold out to the climax
Great! Now bring John Dolmayan to Drumeo!
Yes!
Those K crashes sound magical. Great video and a better performance.
So we’re all just gonna pretend we didn’t see that swirling cymbal to his left like that’s just normal
Right
I was actually waiting when he uses it. No idea what sound it may produce.
