@@geraldstamour1312 nah…..the metal is likely hot garbage. Made well, yes, exquisite craftsmanship obviously, but starting with a base metal of mild steel nails…. The intrinsic metal qualities is what’s lacking here. Will it cut sure will it last likely, but chipping, rate of holding its edge, overall length of sharpness… likely sub par. Nothing on the creator, just not great knife steel to start with.
That’s a beautiful knife Han, i don’t think I’ve seen the blank twisted so much as you did in this video. The handle turned out great such a great piece of wood. 👍🏼
4:39 I can never figure out why forgers never use a runout surface to keep their material from sagging in the press. It's a pretty knife, I love the wood.
Oh! I failed to notice that the tang wasn't hardened. I'm currently wrecking drill bits in an effort to get through a tang which I did harden. I won't do that again.@@HansKnives
Very beautiful, but why do you made this Damascus pattern? Basically you need thin layers orientated with the edge, twist/welding/waving just mess up layers each others.
Blade is too thin , cutting edge is not hollow ground , how long does a blade forged from low carbon steel stay sharp , clanp it in a vise and try to bend it. Next time try using masonry nails they are high carbon steel or steel cable . I had a friend that forged knives from steel cable , much better than nails . I could tell by the sparks from grinder that you were using low carbon steel
This knife, HANS, totally belongs in a high-end kitchenware catalog and/or retailer!

@@anubis8680 To each one's own! Let's agree to disagree!
You definitely "nailed" it. 👍
I love seeing Damascus because the patterns on knifes can be very beautiful like this one.
What a beautiful knife 👍👍
BEAUTIFUL! WELL DONE! THANKS for sharing!

I'd definitely buy a whole kitchen set excellent work!
That’s a beautiful knife
Gorgeous!!!
Very Cool!! Great Job
Nice work!
Beautiful job 😊
A lot of machines, time, energy… how much does it cost ?! 😮❤❤❤
Love what you do.
Great work 😊
What a talented man I would love to own a knife like that
Beautiful. Just right.

That's a beautiful piece of work, you should set up a website to sell your craft. ❤
The Rooster in the Background knew what this knive is for.
Nice knife brother
Damn guys I think he nailed it
Wow! Awesome piece. What type of wood is it?
Judging by how easily you drilled through the tang, the nail steel does not harden appreciably. Very interesting. And very well photographed.
That drill bit is made of tungsten alloy. Can penetrate 60HRC steel. My oversight, not showing it in detail, and the handle part is not heat treated.

Fantastic
That’s a fabulous grip. Is it a maple, or walnut, or something else?

Magnifique !
Just keep spinning
Just keep spinning
What do we do!?
We spin, spin

very nice knife,, but,, the way you held onto that small piece of brass with your fingers was scary,,, you should have held it in a vice!!
Humans have at least two replacement fingers 😂
What would a knife like that sell for?
Top😊

And where might I purchase your handiwork?
I never seen the canister removed. Heat treat didn't look hot enough but the file skated
Aren't nails usually made from mild steel?
Making steel from lots of little bits of all the same steel is patern welding, not " Damascus "
Do you sell any of the knives you create?
👍 für den Algorithmus
What are these Shells that fall off when pressed?
The flakes are called fire scale
nice
Aren't nails made of low carbon or mild steel? Is it possible to harden it to the extent that is needed for a knife?
Not without adding carbon to it , and this forging did not add any extra carbon

Should be called making a screw out of nails 2:54
The pattern is to fine. Could not determine what I was looking at. To many twists.

You twisted it too much. The pattern was nearly lost.
There is no pattern to it
That knife is far from high quality
I am not sure I would be happy with the handle.
Nice work!
