That was an awesome bite for sure. I fish fowl a lot and you don’t do that every day in there for sure. Congratulations on getting on the podcast. Enjoyed listening to y’all

I’m amazed at how often trout hit a lure once and then return to slam it. Great day and they were stout and stacked in there!
I’m curious, have you fished Slicks on regular jigheads instead of the weighted weedless rigs? I couldn’t tell if grass was an issue for your this trip and this place.

Ah, I see you addressed the jighead use and question. I use the hooks y’all are using here too.

yea the Beast is what I always use the lure was actually designed around that hook.

He's definitely right about them being designed for those hooks and that is Definitely my favorite way of fishing them. But certain situations when you need to get down deeper jigheads will work better. We caught 8 today using jigheads to get down to where they were. Tight lines! 🤙 Love the video!

What's the best way to work them

There isn’t an easy answer to that question it is very situational. I think one of the easiest ways to start working it if you are new to slickin’ is slow reel with a few quick twitches worked in. It’s important to try different techniques and cadences since it is such a versatile lure and sometimes they want it fast and other times they just want it slowly reeled in no action.

Would be ideal to be down current bait will look more natural swimming down current instead of up current just putting my 2 cents in but don’t look like it mattered this day 😂

You’re right we got much fewer bites working up stream vs cross or downstream
