I see “new residents” who I highly doubt have fishing licenses taking over fishing spots and lining up chairs next to one another and using hand lines, keeping everything they catch. Not one time have I seen any FWC official doing a license check. Why???

There's a spot in Boca Raton, I saw a dude fill a 5 gallon bucket with sub 6" snappers. Made me sick. I was maybe 100 feet from him, catching barely undersize mangos and throwing them back. Twice the size of anything he had in his bucket. Made me sick.

I've been stopped seven times in three months by FWC. I had motor trouble on the last day it was checked. I came back to the ramp 2 hours after sunset without running lights. I had engine trouble, stayed near shore, and idled the two miles back to the launch. The FWC officer was waiting for me at the launch. I got my $90 ticket. The judge heard the case, and I only had to pay court costs.

Same thing in NY. No signs and they give out tickets. Before 9/11 there was no problem and people would tie off to the bridge for years. These guys were nice and easily could have given you multiple tickets. Always best to be nice with enforcement just like you were so not to escalate anything. Unfortunately sometimes you get a grumpy or tool bag officer just waiting to give out tickets. Great video. Thank you

Most peoples GPS trolling motors freak TF out under a bridge and so its actually safer to tie off. Oh not to mention, that bridge, the 3 salaries and pretty little boat were all paid for by our taxes and so if you're not damaging any of those they really shouldn't be telling you chit.

Some harbor patrol officers are fishing for a crime, just hoping you confess to something. Always be nice and respectful, like you were, but don't volunteer too much information. For instance, saying something like, "I did this same illegal thing everyday all last year." That was a confession to multiple misdemeanors that some cops would have arrested you for, on the spot.... no kidding. However, you can be kind and respectful without offering too much information about your recent-past fishing habits. You did okay. You get a B- for that interaction.@@saltyswiggs
