This ship REALLY needs a gold standard redesign, inside and out. However, they would do well to maintain the overall aesthetic and 'spirit' of the design. Those long lines, simple angles, and sweeping wings are just.... 🤌

Thank you so much for this review! Retaliator was my first ship in Star Citizen. The first ship I ever set foot in (bought an upgraded starter package from Grey Market). It has forever a place in my heart. I upgraded to it's big sister the Polaris, but still haven't applied the upgrade as I anxiously wait to see what modularity brings in! One note, the top and bottom airlocks have been removed in the rework and they replaced it with a single large elevator on larboard and a bigger airlock on starboard. About speed and maneuverability, surprisingly it's more maneuverable than any Constellation, than the Corsair. So really, the only ship of this class more maneuverable are the freak MSR and 400i which anyway are speed demons.
Awesome, this is one of my favorite ships in SC. I had a chance to finally team up with some players flying fighters a few weeks ago to take down an Idris. Super fun, and can't wait for the modules. The lore of the ship is really interesting, they are supposed to be armored tanks that have seen a lot of action and success which checks out with that hit point pool you mentioned. If anyone reading this is interested in pledging for one, you might get a chance to grab the base version for the original $150 pledge; however, that ship may have sailed since it should get the gold standard pass this year. You never know though, it may not be ready before Invictus. 🙂
I have one, always a joy to see a big target go boom if the torpedo connects. And i'm also curious what modularity will bring, would be nice to fly one day your torp modules for some bountys and the other day swap them out and take a livingquarter and lets say a med station and go exploring a bit.
Retaliator is probably my favorite ship to fly about in. I keep her fully loaded for the org nights extra gear in the racks. One day, I will be able to add the drop ship module in.
@EvenLease44 I'm hoping that it'll be worth it. Because under the post where I read about it. They mentioned Future plans for it. Like the bounty cryo pods, maybe salvage, and Titan armor recharge station.
@@asog88 fully manned it will shoot the torps before they impact, you are correct. I'm just making a point that it has the DPS to destroy one. Most ships cant effect the ship unless they has size 5 weapons plus
It absolutely could be, I wouldn't go 1v1 with an Idris with it but if you have 3-6 light/heavy fighters keeping the idris turrets busy you could probably sneak in some torpedoes!

Design wise this is my favourite ship and has been since they showed its concepts lol. Just hope the non military variants are good. I agree though we defo need more actual competition between ships. Even in areas where you have options it's kinda feeling like CIG are just power creeping their existing ships to get more sales atm
I absolutely want to see other manufacturers come out with competitors, I wonder what a crusader competitor to the 'tali bomber would look like? Probably pretty sick!
I would definitely want a cargo or living version like half of the crew size for daily drivers. I love how the ship looks but I'm just not a good pilot and not so keen into combat.
Not having pilot weapons definitely is a drawback but not the hardest. The biggest issue on this ship is the horrible flight model. I absolutely love this ship but it's a horror to fly in atmosphere and no ship, not even capitals are even close to being this painful to maneuver.
It DOES have 6 S9 capital destroying torpedoes at the pilot's thumb paired with the highest HP of any ship in-game. Any more and it would be massively OP.
Such a wired ship to me Edit: After learning about the base variant I want this ship so bad. I don’t have the consistent friends in game to justify the cost though :(
It’s not currently available but when it is (the next event is in a couple months, keep an eye out for Invictus launch week), buying the base retaliator at $150 gives you this as a loaner. This ship it self is $275 if you buy this one and not the base.
This is indeed an old guard ship, yet getting modulation and a remake, with living quarters and a module for habitation, i bet anything.....there's no window view been added. I find, that one aspect of the game utter nonsense, especially when its touted for its beautiful vistas, clouds water tech and lighting. People can wittle on ''its a bomber'', and it is, but this is a game, and in a game such as SC, there is no reason for all ships, not to have fantastic ''glass window veiws''.

Agreed! The nose could use some work too. Doesn't match todays graphical standards of SC.

Paired with a Perseus the Retaliator will be great fighter defence and with Cap. ships, all bases covered.

Need a 3.23 re-review! The gold standard has hit this ship, fixed and added and changed so much! And cargo! 74 SCU is huge!
I have the base version. Keeping it for modularity to see what it's about.
The modularity will be small but it'll be interesting to see how it effects the ship.

This one is the ship i want (in concept at the time) since i get into sc and now i rarely fly it but it's always a pleasure!

It turns so dreadfully slow I'm not sure pilot controlled weapons would even matter! :D
I hit a ai hammerhead 3 time with torps and nothing. Idk if its the new update, but it was sad all that explosion and no damage

It could very well be possible, would be one of the slowest data runners but who needs speed with a Health pool like that
the jump has 1.5m hp not 150k.
The 890 jump has 1.5m shield HP, only 150k hull HP
