Meinl Cymbals - The Adrian Belew Power Trio - "B"
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 чер 2019
- Composition, guitars by Adrian Belew
Drums - Jordan Perlson
Bass - Julie Slick
Jordan’s Meinl Cymbals setup from left to right, if sitting behind the kit, is as follows:
15" Byzance Traditional Medium Hihats
18" Byzance Dark Crash
21" Byzance Dark Ride
15" Extra Dry Medium Thin Hihats
8" Byzance Dark Splash (Stack Top)
8" Byzance Brilliant Splash (Stack Bottom)
18" Byzance Sand Medium Crash
20" Byzance Extra Dry China
See a playlist of demos for each cymbal here: bit.ly/312ldOJ
And this is what I love about this channel. They don't just get drummers in their videos, they get entire bands and groups! These things aren't just demos, and it's not just about the cymbals--it's about showcasing great artists and great music. Keep doing what you're doing, Meinl, I hope to be a part of your wonderful family some day. 🤘
Thank you.
Amazing!!! When Adrian smiles, the whole world smiles too !
So true.
Close my eyes and I hear King Crimson! Not a bad thing. God bless Adrian Belew he is so talented. Always pushing the envelope with his compositions and what can be done on the instrument.
I close my eyes in the beginning of this, and I hear RUSH.
It’s incredible how Belew uses his setup to make it sound like there’s a least 3 guitars! Sublime bass and drum work also. They put the “power” in the trio...!
Tight band. Julie is a killer bassist. Been an Adrian fan since Zappa. Drummer very solid. Great stuff.
DeBo
Zappa was one of the best thing that could’ve happened to Belew
I’m not into vocalists that much aside from brutal cookie monster ones in a tech death/death metal context but Adrian’s vocal style always mesmerized me
Cheers to that.
They KILLEd this set
Kinda reminds me of Red-era King Crimson in the best way. Killer stuff!
I always thought more of The Power to Believe.
@@delicheese6774 right
Which is funny, because Ade wasn’t in that band. The interlocking is closer to what he and Robert did in the 80 s.
The best part is seeing the three of them smile. Just amazing.
We need a full set with such a sound and filming!
Julie Slick might be my all-time favorite bassist. She is soooo good.
Julie, yes!
The bass/guitar riff has been on my mind since i first watch this video. Damn it's so good!
We all have our favs but hands down one of the most fun to watch. You can feel the stress that they are going through trying to get this right. Incredibly great performance. Cannot wait to see you Belew in November in Vegas 2024
Adrian found Julie Slick and her drummer brother Eric at the School of Rock in Philly 16 years ago. (Eric has gone on to drum for Dr. Dog.) He loved the trio so much, he wrote an entire suite called “e” for them. The album was recorded live in the studio. The “b3” section was recorded in ONE take. When you hear it, you’ll understand why that’s so amazing!
Julie is one of the most joyful and enthusiastic bassists I’ve ever known. She’s never not having fun onstage. Check out her band Echotest. Fantastic stuff!
Belew most definitely still has it
Love that the bass is so strong in the mix, too. Hallmark of 'King Crimson' style music. All three players great. Put on some headphones, a glass of good scotch, and I'm in nirvana.
Or put on headphones and eat acid.
Jesus man, Belew has been awesome for Decades and this band is sick a frak! THAT BASSIST!
I keep coming back to this video and every time I watch it, it's like I've never seen it before. I hope AB records more with this trio. The album is some of his best work to date.
Same here! I cannot get enough of the absolute skill and joy these guys have on their faces and in their hands. Belew looks like he can’t believe he gets to play this awesome music, and its totally infectious!
This brings me so much joy and happiness, thanks! Always love Julie Slick's fearlessness and am nearly (but not quite) getting used to Adrian Belew's off the wall playing... Perlson's kick on this melted my tiny mind though
And now, a little something to calm your nerves...
Julie is a badass!! I was smiling the whole time right along with them!
The woman on the bass is shredding during that solo section with the guitar. Damn🔥🔥
She shreds the whole damn song! She is awesome.
Julie Slick is the truth! Got to see them play in St Louis a few months back. She is the real deal. Check out her band, Echotest.
And she has a SICK tone! Cavernous but tight!!
Julie's a legend!
Never seen Julie smile so wildly and make such faces she is clearly enjoying herself.. Hell, WE are enjoying ourselves.. This is great stuff!!!!! A hundred times better than the shit we hear on commercial radio.
Let a comb never find what remains of Adrian's hair. Awesome stuff!
God, I love this, some might think it turns to chaos sometimes but there's so much order in here that it's mind blowing. And such a joy at playing!
Slick is sick! Absolutely stunning track. Belew still pushing the envelope.
I saw Adrian 2x this past tour, Pawling and Albany NY.
Adrian rules, and Julie is awesome
This is some rockin teenage combo.
That is some righteous noise! Can't wait for the Plattsburgh show!
That was freakin' AWSOME!
Wow! Her bass pick style gave me some ideas to apply to finger style. Very inspiring!! Thank you so much! I love this stuff!
Awesome !!! I saw Adrian playing in David Bowie's band here in Brazil back in the 90's and was blown away with his artistry and stage presence, even if sidelined by Bowie's very own magnetism as a performer and showman altogether.
My best regards from a COVID-19 terrified Brazil.
having met both Adrian and Julie I love this
Adrian Belew's commitment to the weird and experimental, which keeping is heavy as fuck, well into his old age is inspiring as fuck. Love this man
That is literally the tightest wear spot in the center of the snare head I've ever seen. So accurate, haha.
Look at gavin Harrison please
@@lucasrodriguez8798 That might be tighter than Gavin's dude
seriously wth
JULIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw them live in 2013, The Adrian Belew Power Trio, and The Crimson ProjeKCt. Two drummers opened together, building it up. It was insane! And the sound was perfect! Best live performance i`ve ever experienced!
Tight, this sounds so good, everything's nice. Plus, Mr. Belew's face of enjoyment is the best.
I wish I would've checked out Adrian Belew's stuff years ago when I first heard of him. He's got such a unique style and I can see him quickly becoming one of my favorite artists. The sound I just heard from The Power Trio was sick...I need more of that in my life!!
Muffin Man live is brutal .
Man so much chaos and tenstion back into that heavy ass groove. Its a thing of beauty.
I love the interplay between them
Julie Slick, unreal bass playing, right up there with Belew! I'll marry that woman in a heartbeat,
True
Julie is a superb musician and bass player. I was stunned watching her play.
Loved it when I first heard it live, still feel the excitement when I hear it. Please do an album this influence, this direction, you all have so much creative power in this, release the Krakken!
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh My Gawwwwwwwwwd!!!! Damn that was Awwwwwwwwwwsome!!!! Adrian is like fine wine, gets better with age.... Julie smokes as always and big ups to the new guy Jordan!!!! Love this incarnation of the power trio glad I have my tickets for the quartet show in Sept... Thanks Meinl for posting!!! Awwwwwyeah!!
Saw them live a few months ago. Incredible band.
This is like perfect music for me to listen to when I'm doing invoices - thank you so much - I was able to concentrate and smash them out faster than usual!
Powerfull trio, really a tune performance🔊 Thanks for share.
Amazing trio
I’ve heard metal that doesn’t hit this hard. Killer groove and tight, nasty playing. Made my day. Need more.
That was really insane guys, great music..........
When I met these three guys they used this very drum kit, it sounds great!
I Love when three musicians become one being. Brilliant!
Great work guys! I miss you Julie!
My friends Julie & Ade ! Fantastic people, fantastic musician !

My new favourite guitarist. Great band too.
Julie Slick rocks my world.
Three People making all that noise.
Wonderful
This song put a big smile on my Face!!!! Máster Adrián Belew awesome band
One of the most awesome artists (and bands) I ever worked with. Met up with Adrian at Knuckleheads Saloon in KCMO. His set-up was intense. It looks like he's paired down some since then!
He had a couple guitar amp Sims (Kemper and Fractal) plus a tablet with FX and he had an incredible Bradshaw-Style switching system, 3 volume pedals plus a pitch pedal and he had several sends to the front of house.
He builds rhythms live and plays on top of them as you can see some of that in this video.
He didn't use a guitar amp or cabinet. He had a pair of powered floor monitors and then the most amazing use of the Bose stick systems and subs I have ever seen. His loops was the only thing that went through it if memory serves and it was basically surround sound or more correctly quadrophonic. It was intense if you were close enough to the stage and I'm sure was very cool for Adrian as well.
It looks like he's not using that set-up anymore. To be fair it was a lot to carry and set up on the road, and it was probably cooler for him than the audience. Also with the stage space at some venues...it was probably a lot of work that didn't add a lot to the show in the end. So who can blame him?
But the best part was all the guitarist friends who were trying to understand his guitar rig...I had a laugh on that one to be sure.
Amazing - true geniuses at top of their game!
That is some insane bassguitar-shredding.
Where'd Tobias Ralph go? Your new drummer is great! Im diggin the Meinl cymbals and rugs!
Wow I love these cymbals! The band. Jaw= dropped.
Stunning!
There is no one like Adrian. Legend.
Adrian is a KING!!!!
Ohhh this is niiiice! Very crazy and eclectic! Lovin it
INCREDIBLE!!
When I first heard Muffin Man, I thought Frank Zappa was doing all that shredding himself. I'm talking for years ,till I saw the live video of Muffin Man, New York. I was floored. Been a huge fan ever since.
that snare head wear makes me feel so good
holy moly this band can PLAY!!!
So perfect!
Génial as usually
OMG Adrian Belew bent my brain in the 80’s and now again. Can my 64 yr old brain take it? I’ll put it on my tombstone. Adrian did it.
Están locos! Me encanta!
OMG this is the stuff i love
That was brilliant.
4 down votes? Holy shit. The end is near. Hopefully not before I get to see Adrian this September in Austin Tx. Always an entertaining show. 🤘😎🤘
