    The best part was at the end of this video. About 9.07. Adrian Belew never learned to read charts and his musical endeavors and experiences led him to this. You can feel his heart and soul at the end. He is so excited and probably wants to cry here in enjoyment what has just happened here. What a moment.

    Just saw Adrian last year at a local theater. Talked to him and his lovely wife. Great folks. KILLER show. Been a fan since senior year of high school, when Sheik Yerbouiti came out. Game over. Saw him several times solo, with the Bears, 3 times with Crimson, once with Bowie.

    I loved Belew for almost 40 years because of his outside the box mentality. He's such a great musician and since he plays so many gimmicky effects things, it's hard to tell just how good he really is. But I suspect he can tackle almost anything. Bravo, Mr. Belew - this was just fantastic!

    • @hfitzpatrick1863
      @hfitzpatrick1863 3 роки тому +4

      Respectfully, playing effects well (as Belew does) is a musicianly activity and should not be discounted as hiding ability.

    • @LazerJass
      @LazerJass 2 роки тому

      H Fitzpatrick is on point! Some of the best contemporary classical and jazz composers drown their instruments in chaotic chains of effects so that there is nowhere to hide.
      Only Bach players beat down on Beethoven lovers for making use of cheat codes like the sustain pedal. Respectfully added by a brain that can strip any effect in realtime with no lookahead.

    Standing front row at the Cleveland Agora for the League of Gentleman show…that incredible 1st album…the opening act is a band called GaGa……and what transpired was…..astounding….Adrian wearing a green cap singing peas please don’t give me disease….and the guitar work….brilliant….then Mr. Fripp and company come out…and start playing….oh my!…..and the guy standing next to me is jumping up and down like I am….elbowing me in the side….telling me how much he loves Fripp…Crimson…and I notice it’s the guy who was just on stage playing incredible unique guitar…Adrian Belew…we laughed and jumped and elbowed each other the whole show….after…as I was walking out the lobby…Adrian was just standing there….basking in the night…he saw me…called me over and we talked for a long time….him telling me stories….how we both loved the same bands…neither of us could read music….which I always felt was a hinderance because it locked you into linear thinking….I always felt that any note could follow any other note….when played with conviction…..Adrian started laughing as we discussed all the beautiful accidents that can happen playing like that….and at that moment…a man walks up to Adrian recognizing him and starts asking him how Fripp plays all the diminished scales…going off on a short tangent on musical theory….then stopped when he realized Mr. Belew and I were laughing uproariously at his questions and I mentioned maybe he should take up bowling because as far as I was concerned that linear thinking brought about bands like loverboy…..we laughed for so long just talking like 2 guys who had the same interests….it was a great night….and Adrian was just so nice and intelligent and funny….I wished him the best…..and then felt so proud of him when Mr. Fripp put KC back together with him….his love of that band as he expressed it to me that night was immense….so I just felt so happy for such a nice…friendly guitar genius 😊
