The Crimson ProjeKCt
In August 2011, Levin, Mastelotto and Belew organised the "3 of a Perfect Pair Camp", a music seminar that included daily group performances of King Crimson repertoire by the trio, partway through being joined by Markus Reuter (touch guitar) from Stick Men, plus Julie Slick (bass) and Tobias Ralph (drums) from the Adrian Belew Power Trio.
This performance was a preview of the "Two of a Perfect Trio" tour of the US and Canada in September-October 2011 which comprised sets by Stick Men (Tony Levin on Chapman Stick and vocals; Pat Mastelotto on drums, percussion, vocals; and Markus Reuter on touch-style guitars), The Adrian Belew Power Trio (Belew on guitar, vocal and pre-recorded samples, Slick on bass and either Tobias Ralph or Danny Carey on drums) and then a final set by all six musicians (Levin, Mastelotto, Belew, Slick, Reuter and Ralph) or various subsets thereof playing King Crimson material from the 1994-1996 tours' setlists (using the original "double trio" configuration which this particular 6-musicians-ensemble mirrors, with Slick playing Trey Gunn's parts, Ralph playing Bill Bruford's parts, and Reuter playing Robert Fripp's parts).
In the summer of 2012, this sextet supported Dream Theater on a US tour under the name "The Crimson ProjeKCt" and have retained this moniker ever since.
As Robert Fripp stated in his Saturday 14 April 2012 diary: "Tony and myself discussed the not-easily-doable name of "Stick Men & The Adrian Belew Power Trio That Do A Set Of King Crimson Music". Tony's suggestion was "ProjeKct Krimson". Mine was "The Crimson ProjeKCt"."
The Crimson ProjeKCt has toured the United States twice and performed in both Russia and Japan. There are official live recordings available from these tours, including the Dream Theater shows. This is the only ProjeKct to date not to include Robert Fripp.
During 2014, the band toured in Australia, New Zealand and, for the first time, Europe.
Tony Levin is 70 years old here. Dude took care of himself. I love this song.
Once you go bass no more lines on your face.
He definitely looks 50
Actually, he's 68 here, not 70, but your point still stands!
I saw him before a show a while ago, he was smoking so I don't know if he still is a cigarette smoker but he does look fit.
Fully.Sure as hell did.
💚
Belew's work with the Talking Heads of fabulous and that he continues to make such excellent music? FAWK!
Doesn't hurt that he has Levin on the stage. Levin's work with Peter Gabriel is outstanding.
cant tell if youre joking lmfaoooo
I've seen Belew perform live with both Bowie and Talking Heads. Amazing stage presence
Me too. Lucky basterds we are
I saw him with Laurie Anderson. He was very unusual, playing his guitar with a fork among other things.
@@lashedbutnotleashed1984 The most unusual item I've seen him use is an electric drill. I think it had a plastic bit instead of the usual metal bit.
Crimson, Bowie, Bears, solo. Saw him a couple of Octobers ago in St. Charles IL.
Love this album. and Belew is not a guitar player, he is a soundshaper!
They look like they're having so much fun. Adrian is just a big ball of joy.
Adrians voice is timeless
A dangerous place
Tony Levin half-man, half-bass all legend
God, this has got to be the best kept secret on UA-cam...
Love secrets! No secret tomorrow night Mr. Belew will light up Cincy!
For those who don't know, these are called 'true musicians'! Masters of The Craft, and they don't really care who likes them.
Classic Krimson Ljneup ...VINTAGE
Saw Jeffrey Harrison and Adrian belew in March this year. Mostly talking heads music, but the performed Thela. Also saw the Adrian belew fripp king crimson twice over the years. Spectacular
Truly an original sound. Seen Crimson with Belew, Gunn, Mastelatto and the Frippster in 2004. This reminds me of that night, seeing my son attend his first Crimson experience! Thanks for posting this!
I just want to see Adrian play with KC and Fripp one more time, is it too much to ask?
Where's that guy in the corner, on the stool?
He's practicing being erudite for the next King Crimson reunion.
"That guy" is Robert Fripp, who pretty much personifies King Crimson.
@@finylvinyl66 woosh
@@kristianorellana5664 why are you making that sound
@@andrewgrant7012 I like this one
This is an even more dangerous place…this is an even more dangerous place!
Frantic, wonderful ❤️
A band so talented that Steve Vai is playing drums... :-)
David Fung crazy right
I thought that was Steven Wilson.
And the guy at left - Markus Reuter? I thinks he's actually Eraserhead!
Haha
... And Robert Redford plays the stick... )))
7 fucking minutes and not a single camera shot of the genius Robert Fri- oh.
You mean the genius Julie Slick
He probably wanted it that way.
Fripp was not on this tour
@@guyquinton2413 No wonder. I thought something was different.
Real music! Wow! If there is a video of this full show, please release it on DVD! I will buy it day one.
I hope someday Robert Fripp will let Tony and Pat free to again work with The Crimson ProjeKCt.
Got to see Adrian Belew Power Trio and The Stickmen a while ago in a place called the Iron Wolf down in MA. The show was great but the encore was superlative, both bands doing this stuff. Could've stayed all night for that.
@4:45 AB even gets the Doppler Effect going when he mimics the police car siren ! That’s f’n incredible !
The brilliant chaos of the Mighty Crim
fuKCing great..
It’s amazing talent to take two separate bands and arrange them into one cohesive band. I only got to see TCP once - minus Tobias. It was a thrill of a show.
Have you seen this version of THRAK?
When you add the music they have played, the people they play have played with( and still do!) along with bands, and the recordings and toss in a nice collection of videos it’s effin’ mind boggling! There have and are studio musicians who might have similar discographies but I doubt that these days there are many in the last 20 yrs.
( OK, certainly, yes the current roster of “Jazz Musicians” ? Maybe?
Anyway, they are really wonderful here! ( quite a while ago, I was lucky enough to watch a Talking Heads rehearsal during the “Stop making Sense” days, when Adrian Belew was going on tour with them, and at Long Island City rehearsal space and Adrian was so happy and into it, he basically never stopped moving and smiling and happy as well, I’m not sure if a fair comparison honestly… but with Bowie, with Crimson, Gabriel with the Talking Heads Adrian Belew always seemd in love with the music, the groove, the.. well I believe Fripp said that the best music, always needs to being able to get the music to be locked into
“Head, Heart & Hips… (I probably have if sort of scrambled but those 3 words are always in these guys musical hearts!
Loved this song since I saw King Crimson in LA in 1981!
Man, I'm jealous!
@@Playboigorti8574 “ooh what I lucky man he was”
Saw that in NYC !
Tony levin is amazing
He really is. On top of the stuff he's done with KC he's done stuff with Liquid Tension Experiment and other great stuff
I saw this tour at the Belly-Up Tavern in Solana beach CA. Awesome show, collected all the sigs in the big social gathering after the show.
This is an awesome video! I have been fortunate enough to see this live several times. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece.
I saw Adrian at Darryl's House in Pawling, NY and Stick Men at Infinity Hall in Norfolk, CT and thought man, it would be so great if these guys got together. I didn't know this existed! I've got some videos to check out.
Boy, I love this song!
Wow! Innovative reinvention keeps the Songs developing. Wonder what Robert makes of a Frippless Crim?
Saw KC performing this in a concert back in the eighties and am still wondering what they hell Thela Hun Ginjeet means.
it's an anagram of "heat in the jungle"
Love that voice too.
I recall reading a quote from Tony Levin a long time ago (possibly the 80s) where he said that he plays a three-stringed bass because he can get all the sound he needs to out of only three strings. Here he plays five-stringed bass. What happened?
Han sido y son los mejores, pase quien pase por ésa organización. Para mí es más que un grupo una banda ó como lo queráis llamar. Los sigo y amo más de 40 años😍
@Markus Reuter- Thank you! Can you put together a whole show video? I’d buy it on DVD or any format. Heck, I’d buy it twice.
these guys seems more stoned than Crim is usually allowed to get, which is cool in a certain way that I dig.
Nice Job, Markus. As for the substance, been hooked forever. Looking forward to seeing you play with these folk live someday. Helaine
Right on Rockers!!🙏❤️🙏❤️
Is he playing bass with hot dogs?
That Sound! (of Tony's Funk Fingers)
Wow, wished so bad to be there..
thank you señor !!! wonderful !!! love this reunion !!!
La voz de Adrian Belew, principal en King Crimson, aunque toquen sin él, hace falta.le da el toque del grupo Crimson.
Crimson ProjeKct Rules!
OMG amazing
great song, but awesome this night !
sono meravigliosi
I was there!!
Pure bliss!
Incredible!
Fantasticiiiiii
Only great❤❤❤❤
FUCKING AMAZING.
Wunderbar....!!!!!
Оххуительно👍💣
Not sure if Fripp really wants to tour again…but he has “retired” a couple of times but like Pacino’s Michael Corleone everytime he thinks he is done, he get’s pulled back in! (Quote a bit off, sorry😎)
Still being in his seventies. He needs to retire sometime.
Adrian doing abstract chord chomps!!! Improvising!!! Awesome
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
KU Hz right here sir!! Great youtube channel!!
Nice for a wakeup !
Fuckin Excellent Recording .......... thanx for the post
Großartig ❣️

this is a dangerous place
Class Dismissed!😂🙏❤️
He is, but I like Tony Levin more
💚📧👍
Erinomaisen etevää!
Translation, please! 😎😊
Good
Maybe it's easier, in some ways, for them to be unleashed ~and have more fun than ever with the material without Robert being there to chaperone?
Does anyone know what chord adrian is playing? I can't figure it out.
This is better, louder and more frenetic than Helter Skelter.
That's a bold statement.
Fantastic! Could use a squeaky pig though.
Bruford is irreplaceable.
Bruford is top 5 in my opinion for rock. So unique and plays exactly what the music needs. So dynamic.
Do you have fullshow video? :)
💻💻💻💻
I need more feedback.
Not the same without Bruford. Cool stuff though
I'm not sure what it is, but there's something off sonically in this version. Almost like someone is slightly out of tune.
Эндрю красафсек
.....three basses??????? 😂
Why not
Two basses. Levin and Slick. Markus is playing touch guitar
@@lmolmud tWO BASSES, ONE CHAPMAN STICK, ONE GUITAR, TWO DRUM SETS
Never heard of them.
トニー・レヴィンが普通のベースギターを弾いている
Pewnie masz rację. Pozdrawiam, Piotrek.
カッコいいサウンド
メンバーはオヤジ化しているけど
why does Tony look exactly the same and the others don't?
Because I don't have a moustache.
Hot dog finger Tony. WTF?
Bastante soso el tema. No sé por qué debiera ser tan aclamado. Es evidente la decadencia de King Crimson. Tuvo un pasado de verdadera música gloriosa.
Ginger Baker could have played both drum accompaniments in perfect time. He was an expert in jungle beat. Not bad though!
Everything spot on except the drums.
The drums are perfect
There is an unnecessary percussionist and bassist here !!
What you mean? With the crimson is never enough! They have 3 drummers now a days
Philippe Cirse Don’t say mean things about Tony Levin, please.
The 2 drummers are needed. Also, Levin and Slick sound amazing playing bass together!
