I love this so much. Whether it's gaming or sports, I always root for the older veterans. Having everything in competition being about youngsters constantly replacing older veterans gets a little repetitive. These success stories are the best.

I actually screamed out loud at the transition at 3:29. That was so slick!!!! Then the music matching the records, you're just SO good. The TAS and RNG graphics are sick, the oranges flying everywhere are sick... Every new video is somehow even better edited than the last. You're cracked. You're so cracked, and you're making this story so engaging and so exciting. Absolute legend.

Hello everyone, I have a small announcement. Just a few days ago (Jun 21), Toobou uploaded , on Twitter (X), a post about his PB History in Any% This post shows ALL of his PBs, not just the WRs. He even remembers what times he achieved before his 1:34:50 in 2011. Its very likely that some of the old PBs were WRs , like the 1:34:58. They dont have video proof, but this is getting close to an accurate WR timeline in early 2011. So, if someone wants to make an any% history once again, this post on twitter is an excellent tool to use.

Seeing Toobou STILL pushing himself beyond his limit and still adapting new strategys is very impressive. Looking forward to potentially seeing 1:12 become a reality, will also be on the look out for a video following up with that I'd imagine! Watching this really gives me the urge to go back and try to learn the any% speedrun for SMS sometime soon, seeing as it's my favorite Mario game with the most fun movement imo.

I had a conversation with someone that started watching Sunshine runs in the modern era and thought I was crazy when I told them Toobou could realistically get WR or a 1:12 (before his timely WR). As someone who picked up Sunshine in late 2013, Toobou will always be one of my favorite players to watch over the years. Toobou is eternal!

Remarkable that you got through this video without talking about guy's load advantage or the 1:13:26 new file wr toobou set nearly immediately after he got his 1:13:17. Toobou is a legend, and when he gets 1:12 (and yes I said when), it will be the cleanest and most well rounded WR this game has ever seen. A testament to his consistency.
Somehow I missed this one when it came out, it was a great video! Decided to check out the leaderboard to see how the 1:12 progress was going for the community since this was uploaded… and of course Toobou has once again taken the record, and only 5 days ago too! Huge congrats to him, nothing cooler than seeing someone with so much history in a game still able to compete with, and even beat the best! He’s got the record down to within seconds of 1:12, and it’d be really cool to see him be the one to break that barrier. The only thing that would top that will be when veteran speedrunner AverageGeriatricTrey gets the first sub one hour Sunshine world record in 2082.

this was so awesome!!! toobou's such an insightful guy, it's inspiring to see dedication pay off in a world with so many prodigies xD it's really fun to look at top players and see what makes them work, and a lot of players don't really know sometimes, it's hard to compare to the rest of the competition. but i think toobou really has this stuff figured out, more than most people at least, in the grand scheme everyone is always very lost xD sorry if that didn't make any sense, but it was a really interesting video!! and i really really love your style of videos, i need to watch more, keep it up you're the best trey :D
