- A Look Back at Five Nights at Freddy's - 9 Years Later
Today is FNAF's birthday! The series is turning 9 years old. So what better way to celebrate then to look back at the game that started it all.

I can’t believe FNaF is almost a decade old. It feels like it’s only been *5* years of FNaF
faxs dude
well hey uh
pizza sim is like 5 years old
also known as FYaF
@@asa_andromedaI swear it was only three
YO İTS YOU AGAİN ELLO
9 years later and the community stills moves on. But Just like Afton, the series always comes back.
i like this comment.
i like this comment.
I am the purple guy 👾
Even 30 years later I'll tell my kids about this game my kids will tell their kids ABOUT FNAF
EVERYONE MUST KNOW FNAF.
@@Fangamer1254 yes bro
You’d think that having a horror game about dead kids being one of my favorite franchises during my development would be bad for me (maybe it was) but I don’t regret it for a second
I remember my FNAF phase as a teenager….
It never truly left me.
I love hoe realistic the fnaf 1 and 2 renders are it just has a style no other game has reached in years
(how)
haha they said hoe
And after 9 years of this franchise, there is still no game that has the player survive for exactly 5 nights.
there is fnaf sister location
Fnaf having a fandom still over these years is very impressive!!! Its very nice that it hasnt even died down ONCE. Happy bday fnaf! 🩷
I don’t think there will ever be a horror game video franchise as special as FNAF. It was once a series that was a short point and click experience and now to this day it has become possibly one of the most important things to ever exist.
How is fnaf one of the "most important things to exist?
@@andarilho_31 I'd say it's up there with fertilizer and nuclear bombs tbh
@andarilho_31 it went from a single game with barely any backstory other than
"A guy killed kids and put them in animatronics and they're haunted"
Into a massive franchise with fan made games, countless sequels, countless merch, and even a movie on the way
The theorys that people made before even any context of some events in the lore were revealed were crazy
yeah some people thought scott sold his soul to the devil for this game
9 years later and FNAF fandom still being strong goes to show how dedicated community is
hamburger
hamburger
hamburger
Yeah, dedicated at starting drama 💀💀
@@skawoskashamburbur
Nearly a decade… let’s go!
The FNAF community will live on forever
Is that even a good thing?
theoratically speaki-🤓
We always come back!
Maybe
@@vladimirhorejs5477Is that a fnaf reference!!
god man, i have so many memories of fnaf. it'll always hold a special place in my heart.
good video mate.
Man, nearly 10 years old. How far we've come! As for tier-list...I'd put it in A as well. Gameplay's simple but effective, if a bit repetitive.
Everything else is fantastic!
The fact the game was released 9 years ago just blows my mind, that's literally over half my life, I remember watching so many people playing the game and I'd be so terrified of it, this game will always hold a special place in my heart.
Fun fact: Foxy can actually be halted on any camera since his AI is tied to overall camera usage. So as long you stay on the cameras for a significant amount of time, he'll be put at bay way longer and won't exit his curtain throughout the night if you're good enough.
I remember learning this on my own when playing and its helped me to this day.
yea the only two things u gotta do is checks cam for foxy, light and door, repeat
Happy birthday FNAF!!! And thank you plaintrace for being an awesome part of this community and making great content!! :)
I remember that back in my day, there was a group of kids, which I was in was wild. We theorised that William got scooped then turned into a murderer by the robot manipulation and the killed and somehow reborn. We even sometimes did big pauses talking about Afton, cause thinking about that was disgustingly scary.
I find it crazy how Fnaf literally gave people jobs and the popularity they needed to have a stable life style
Are you talking about the fangames?
Awesome video! I can't believe it's been nine years. I still remember being freaked out by the first game when I was 11.
but I just want to point out: 2:08 the original demo for dark deception came out before FNAF 1 did
You did such a good job making this video! I love it!
tbh hearing phone guy death scarred me as a kid. this part sacred me most as a kid10:43
i just dont know why it scared me... and to this day its still iconic
For anyone who knows/watches Ambience's videos, you know that Foxy and Freddy can be easily dealt with
8:16 that makes me think that that’s how all their souls acted before they got stuffed in a suit, the way you characterized them made them seem like qualities of children, especially the “needing to be watched”
To this day the first FNAF game is perfect and is easily in my top 3 favorite fnaf games
Its my birthday today actually, Its nice to celebrate on the same day as one of the biggest game franchises ever.
9 YEARS AT FREDDYS! Wow, it has been a crazy journey.
Honestly feels so surreal knowing this franchise is nearly a decade old. I can remember the day Markiplier uploaded his first lets play of the first game, at that time I was only 9 years old, and now the game itself turns 9 while I become an adult. Bro.....
Matpat did say about Chuck E. Cheese shooting incident that it was tragic and that he won’t make any jokes on it whatsoever. So I personally don’t think it was that bad of him comparing them. It was a stupid theory and I’m sure a big coincidence but I don’t think he was disrespecting the incident at all. I do understand your point of view though.
Almost a decade man, all day ive been vibing to classic(and obviously cringey) fnaf music, going over tons of fnaf videos, ive just been reliving my childhood.
I fucking love these videos, i always try to forget your channel exists so i can comeback and binge the new stuff
Yoooo me and my dad love your content , keep it up!
Really sad that we won’t see that amazing remake that got scrapped…
Hey, that was a darn good game theory. He wasn’t claiming it was true: he was making a case that Scott may have been inspired. He meant no disrespect and you know it.
Next year Fnaf is officially 10 years old. And it would be cool if we got a game centered around the unwithered animatronics for Fnaf 10 Year Anniversary, or switch the Fnaf 1 animatronics with unwithereds for a day
It's still astonishing how far this game has gone from the start to the present
I appreciate how you look back at your video and correct any missaid things, gotta be pretty hard to look through a whole 18 min video for errors.
Happy 9th Anniversary!🎉🎉🎉
I remember my first experience with FNaF, One of my parents' friends brought me to school. They had a kid with them going to school and I think he had FNaF 1 or 4 on his iPad, I asked if I could see and right as I looked over he got jumpscared, He told me what it was called, FNaF. So when I got home I searched it up and years later I'm still a fan. Can't believe it's been 9 years.
I am proud to be a FNAF fan! 3 days since the anniversary. 7 days from now is August 18th the Steam release date of FNAF 9 years ago. Great video PlainTrace
couldn't we wait a year and just make a 10th anniversary special
nuh uh
Yeez man, you grew up as fast as a plane. Hope to be here for the 500k❤
Love the vids keep it up.
Man, I remember hearing about this game as a kid and decided to play it, somehow the first time I played fnaf I got jumpescare by golden freddy and had nightmares for roughly a year after 😂
I don't think matpats video was disrespectful. It was just a theory, and he took it very seriously to not disrespect the victims in it or downplay the situation that occurred. Literally multiple times.
9 years ago I was playing fnaf 1, 9 years later I’m playing security breach ruin 😭 THANK YOU SCOTT
I can't belive it's been 9 years, I feel old now. #thankyouscott
awesome video!!!!! (I totally watched it al!!!)
Your goated PlainTrace
fnaf has given me sm happiness more then a loving single mother gift shopping for xmas eve my life would literally be sm different if this game didn't exist 😭
Now we gotta wait for December 4th. They’ll all be gathered in one place.
2:03 my heart was RACING in this section.
Happy 9 year anniversary! Thank you Scott!
glad to see this vid so soon!
I remember playing fnaf 2 and crying when the puppet got me 9 years. That's so crazy 😢
3:35 I'd say Freddy is the scariest one in the game. His laugh is haunting and he only becomes really active in the later nights like he's the final boss
Nice video dude! Also, you should try this fangame called fazbear entertainment:storage since its actually really good!
even with the volume down and the length shortened all of the jumpscares in the footage (that had their original sound) got me LMFAO
amazing content!
bro i thought movie unleashers fnaf videos were cannon as a kid. it blew my mind to find out years later that it wasnt.
Man this game bring back some memories.
foxy fax:
1: it is actually possible to cut off foxy's jumpscare by running out of power
2: you can beat 4/20 mode whil afk by setting the game to run at 2 or 3 fps, because freddy, bonnie, chica, and golden freddy can't kill you if you don't put up the moniter (golden freddy can only be summoned by using the moniter), and foxy takes around 1500 frames to get from the cove to the office, so you can finish the night before foxy kills you
3: in foxy's jumpscare, the reason why he just goes "ayo the pizza here" instead of screeching in your face is likely because his jaw is actually broken, so he attacks the nightguard in other ways (also foxy appears to have some control over his jaw, as in the first frame of his jumpscare, his mouth is closed)
14:18 PlainTrace clearly did not hear the part where Theory man CLEARLY pointed out that he is not trying to make light of that horrific event.
just because you're not trying to make light of a horrible event its still disrespectful.
why would you even make a theory about an actual event and connect it to a game.
@@FizStick quote from game theory: "this... is a tragic story. A disgusting waste of human life, and one I won't joke about or make fun of in any way. But I want to address it because I have a strong suspicion that this story is the one that inspired Five Nights At Freddy's."
there are your reasons
everyone always craps on matpat's first fnaf theory, despite everything linking surprisingly well. everyone is like "oh it's disrespectful" like bro how? he's just saying "this thing is like this other thing", which it absolutely is.
take a bow Scott, you’ve given us everlasting memories with a simple risk on a new kind of horror game
I can’t believe next year fnaf will be 10 years old and transformers will be 40 years old
the realisation of me being with fnaf since i was 7 now makes me feel way older than i probably should feel
Same dude. I’m right there with you…
2:09 glad that dark deception is still remembered
10:56 almost all of the sound effects were taken from royalty free sound libraries, so the distorted call could be from there
Happy birthday to the big brown bear himself
It's so nice that we're getting a FNAF Movie/Film after it's 9-year anniversary. The game may not have reached it's first decade-birthday yet, but that doesn't make me complain about the movie/film happening as early as 2023 (a 9-year gap which is slightly less than 10).
I was 5 when this game out, and I've been a fan of this series since then.
(Foxy is still the best.)
It was said that 1-9-8-7 in the custom night menu would give you a secret ending so Scott updated the game to give a jumpscare to believers
So cool that my birthday is right after FNAF's release.
Its hella pogg that even through the rough (and i mean *ROUGH*) patcheswe still got it goin
and knowing that the 8 bit big band may make another hella good version of a tombstone song
Time flies man, I was 10 years old when fnaf released
Woo! 9 years!
Cant believe its been nine years...i was ten when this game was released and i remember it being so popular in my elementary school and now im almost 19 in September and its been nine years since it was released and this game is still good as it was back then
Still cant believe it was nine years ago
It's best to watch and play in autumn
"I also made theories back when I was a kid" Your voice suggests you're still a kid.
Plaintrace is basically uhyeah but more underrated
oh wow do I feel old, feels like it only released a few years ago
Fnaf is one of those games that changed the industry.
Man.
Almost 57 years
9 years wow it’s truly been so long
Happy 9 Years Scott :D
I am just realizing that I ended up starting my first ever playthrough of a FNAF game on it's anniversary.
9 Long years... Man time flies
FNAF 3 is peak. It is truly the best ending to the franchise.
Wish it was the real ending to fnaf
@@yourfatboy5359 It still is idc if scott reckoned it because of him being bad. But FNaF 3 was true peace of spirits resting not a dumb sifi fest.
@@christianm7250 exactly! 💯
Story wise it maybe. Gameplay wise it's debatable.
@@imagebear8916it is way better than any other because it truly feels like the most original gimmick in the series
THE MAN BEHIND THE APPLE
Man i was 2 years old when fnaf 1 came out i think i know fnaf when sister location came out so nostalgic
I now am 16 years and still love the games i cant wait to tell my kids in the future this amazing game
remember back when the community gave the killer a name even before he got called purple guy?
How have I supported this series for 7 years… since fnaf 3
One more year until 10 years
9 years is wild
A good thing to know when playing this game is how much power you should have when a certain hour goes by, for example:
12AM = 100%
1AM = 80% or above
2AM = 60% or above
3AM = 40% or above
4AM = 20% or Above
5AM = 8% or above
Just a little strategy I came up with, it helps a lot with power management :)
Don't know if others have said this, but, Outlast is not a Triple AAA game, it is made by an indie studio!
yoo awesome!
