My dad gave me his sw-60 today, I totally forgot about it and now remember playing with it as a kid in the 80s. After doing some testing tonight, it was picking up SW stations my Tecsun pl-380 couldn't find. Pretty happy to own this one. Lots of forgotten memories are coming back to me.

I had the Patrolman SW60 in the 1980s.... ended up with a broken Dial Cord...this is a real cool radio 😊...I converted mine to the 800mhz Band....it is a real Classic 😊....my dad... asked me why I need another radio...I told him I need one with UHF....He understood later when I tuned in the police department.....

My CB 60 has low sensitivity, especially the AM band...I'm guessing a re-cap might help?

Get some deoxit on that volume knob and it will sing.

I remember picking up all my neighbors cordless phone calls and police and fire in the 90's. Fun stuff

The Patrolman CB-60 was sold from 1980 to 1984. The SW-60 was sold from 1984 to 1991.

I had the DX-60 (AM,FM,CB, and 3 SW bands covering 3-26 MHz) one in the eighties, and it was the best radio I ever owned. About 3 years ago I bought a DX 66 (which has Air band instead of CB) on E-Bay, and it was every bit as good as I remember and better than anything made today. I b ought the Patrolman SW-60, which has AM, FM, SW (6-18) VHF Low, VHF high and UHF at a thrift store.
As far as SW goes, I like it better than my Grundigs.
AM has great selectivity, and I love it for DXing. It also has great FM Selectivity, easily as good as a car radio for pulling in distant signals.
My DX 66 cost me over $60.00 on EBay but worth every penny. It was in mint condition.
My Patrolman that I got at the thrift store was $8.00, and all I had to do was replace a broken Antenna.
BTW, J'ai passé ma jeunesse a Montréal aussi!

OfficialSWLchannel I bought my DX-60 in 1980 with money I made from delivering the Gazette. I think I was 14 at the time. I wanted good FM reception so I could listen to CHEZ 106 Ottawa, and good AM for night time DX-ing which I first got into using an old Sanyo RPn1250 transistor.
I was also interested in hearing what was going on on SW, particulary listening to John peel on the BBC World Service, and was curious about Radio Moscow was getting up to.... One of my favourite SW catches back in the day was KUSW In Salt Lake City. when it came to frequency change time they would always play Telegraph Road by Dire Straits.
The DX 66 I currently own was brought on E-Bay from someone whose father had bought it a week before he died in the early eighties, and it just sat there unused for years. So it was in pristine condition.

Went to the thrift store today and bought a realistic patrolman CB- 8 For $9.99 excellent condition except can’t get the push button for the light to stay push in to turn off the two night light bulbs! Great radio other than that!

Does anybody know what kind of antenna connection does this radio accept? It's in the back of the unit

It's called a "motorola" plug- the same plug as is used with car radios. Old police scanners used this and you might still be able to get adapters from a scanner store- they were once made and I've got one around here somewhere for a SO-239 connection but I haven't seen it in years. Or get one from a car junkyard and solder it up.
