@@TeamMD0 Halo was originally built specifically for Xbox One and started dev back in 2015. 343 and MS didn't even have the Series specs till over a year later. Horizon 5 was built specifically to take advantage of the Series specs because they started on that game in 2018. Playground admitted this during the reveal at E3. Sony did the same with Horizon Forbidden West as it was built from the ground up to take advantage of PS5. People keep trying to compare Halo, but Halo wasn't originally designed to take advantage of next gen. Now 343 did upgrade the engine during development to Slip Space and had to revamp the game to make it work better on the old hardware. I suspect that when the RT update goes live in the future that we'll get a more gen 9 aware version of the game because right now, it seems it's running in One X back compat mode with increased frames. The really is if this was a TRUE 9th gen game, we damn sure wouldn't be getting a 4k120fps mode. That should tell you its currently an 8th gen game.
@@Gaudine That's not how I understood that bit. He laughed as Rich said "and things will change on the other platforms", which in this context is the Xbox One since that's the one that can't "brute force" anything. The "brute force" bit from Rich is most likely in reference to how the game has to run on last gen consoles so the Series X has a ton of overhead. I think Alex was laughing at the thought of the sort of downgrades that will be required for last gen compared to that.
It's a driving game, no such thing as a masterpiece in that genre & there's tons of far better racers on PC.. Xtards just don't have shit to play & hype up mediocrity at every turn
It's a racing engine, just because it looks stunning here, doesn't mean it'll translate to a completely different type of game. Especially with what we're seeing here and how good it looks and performs, it means that there are countless optimizations (read: specializations) made and they've no doubt taking advantage of the fact that it's a racing game in many ways. TIme will tell how well they can translate all this to a TPS RPG.
As owner of Series S that is plugged to my PC 1440p monitor I would be fine with the games giving me 1080p/60fps with this fidelity for the rest of generation. Amazing little machine.
Glad big companies still have in mind people who don’t want to spend half a grand on a console. I know it’s not altruism since they aim for profit, but it’s nice that everyone can have a chance to enjoy those games. Glad you’re enjoying yours too bro.
That Remedy developer said Series S might be problematic now but with next-gen games and engines things should get better. Just the aspect of SSD-bound world streaming should minimize the memory limitation which is probably the biggest limit the S has. Other aspects would like help like when S sells more it will grant more incentive to optimize, and when the cross-gen era is over devs will have more time and focus for the S. There are also other features like the RDNA2 ones and XVA which should also allwo for more CPU-GPU overhead.
1/4 the resolution for 1/2 the price isn't exactly amazing to me, and tiny storage to boot. 100GB this game, that's nearly 1/3 the available storage on a Series S gone with one title. Makes better sense to save up and buy a machine that'll last and offer better value. Series S is cheap, but that isn't the same as good value IMO. I think it'll just struggle later on in the generation too with ever poorer performance and weaker support especially from third parties. Owners will want rid of it for upgraded hardware, just outlaying more money. But whatever you think is worth the outlay....
@@pgr3290 I have gaming PC so there is no console on the market that can give me the same graphic fidelity. That's why price and performance of series S is amazing for me. Don't really care. 60fps is way more important for me.

Motorstorm and Driveclub IPs are there to be used by Sony… Both motorstorm and driveclub allude to this huge festival of driving or being apart of a car meet…. The very first motorstorm hinted to a this festival type thing but it was never expanded I don’t think by evo… love evo…. Sony have lost their arcade racer that Sony always have for every gen and launch… I get it, I get why Sony and other companies have done it.. Sony used to have ridge racer and damn do I miss namco arcade games… motorstorm when it got to ms3 was beginning to ape that other car game… not blur but that other one lol where you triggered explosions and set pieces…. Motorstorm and Driveclub are IPs that Sony could revive… no need to reboot or remaster as there is no narrative… both titles imo have better names… and I think the reason why Sony didn’t want evo working on a GT spin off… I can see forza horizon outshining forza… and just looking at the carnage in horizon and the wide expanse etc only make me wonder what a motorstorm on ps5 by a Sony studio would look like… car games are notoriously easy for making visuals look amazing early on…. Sadly I don’t see Sony trying to squeeze an open world racer into the market against forza horizon the crew and need 4 speed… not yet anyway….
This game is proof that as long as you do things right, all you need to do is pull back the resolution and the Series S is right up there with the X. Séries S is really smashing any PC build for that price tag and even slightly higher. I like it. If it came with some very basic Windows 11 capabilities I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
PCs have always been overpriced, now that the power gap between consoles and PCs is getting small it’s becoming apparent how much people are getting ripped off. A PC for the same specs of a PS5/XSX is $1500 USD and this is without a 4K monitor (+$500).
Definitely. Consoles always have really good bang for buck hardware. My PC can do more but for just straight-up gaming, that $300 Series S is competing with my $800 build.
I would have welcomed a 1440p120 mode. To me, that makes more sense than a 2160p30 mode in a racing game, especially if the quality mode has motion blur applied to it, effectively decreasing the resolution.
There is a lot of pressure for games to 'look good bro' so I understand why they did that. Plus, not many people have 120hz displays still and as that gets better, they can still release a 120hz mode later on.

I would normally put 60fps above any visual enhancements but because I am hoping to get a LG CX or C1 during Black Friday, I might put the visual enhancements above fps on this because Forza's are still so good at 30fps and the visual enhancements seem worth keeping for this game but of course will see for myself how noticable the differences are.
As long as you've got motion blur, racing games at 30fps are totally fine and can even seem like the speed is faster. I just prefer the smoothness, but it's one of those things where you don't NEED 60fps for it to look and play well.
Actually just got a 48in Lg C1 yesterday switching back and forth at least in Forza Horizon 4 I can barely tell a difference in quality but can defiantly tell a difference in smoothness in the 120 FPS mode. But I like high FPS and smoothness over just pure graphics but that's of course just my preference.

Halo should take notes .

He laughed as Rich said "and things will change on the other platforms", which in this context is the Xbox One since that's the one that can't "brute force" anything. True, at this point Playground is like Xbox's version of Insomniac with how many high quality games they put out!

And the Series S looks Beautiful!

Sony used to have ridge racer and damn do I miss namco arcade games… motorstorm when it got to ms3 was beginning to ape that other car game… not blur but that other one lol where you triggered explosions and set pieces…. Sadly I don’t see Sony trying to squeeze an open world racer into the market against forza horizon the crew and need 4 speed… not yet anyway….

Why wouldn’t you want the extra frames?
Looks beyond sick. Very excited.
Holy shit, Forza Horizon 4 already consumed my life and this one looks even better
Fh 4 looks 5 years old compared to this
The game looks so beautiful that in no way I would pay half of my framerate to get visuals that need an in depth analysis to spot them
for me its more pop in issues
I wish it have 1440p highest graphic settings mode also
@Lov Mir the rendering distance, visual effects and fidelity are very high in quality mode on Series X, but they mentioned it still pretty much manages to stay at native 4k constantly without a frame drop. I just find it a but unusual that the Series S only targets a maximum of 1080p. I thought it would have a 1440p 30fps and a 1080p 60fps, but I guess considering it only having about 4TFLOPS it makes sense. One X has more processing power interestingly enough.
@Lov Mir ye I agree. Having to choose on 2021 between 4k or Graphics still sticks.
3:00 Rich: "It's just so Rich."
That's so Rich.
Forza has set the bar so high in the racing games genre. None is comparable.
Need for speed became unplayable for me after I had played forza Horizon 4 for the 1st time
It looks phenomenal. I know I should play at 60fps but it looks so gorgeous and seems smooth at 30fps I’ll be tempted. Richard is blown away.
You guys are doing a great job on these reviews, we appreciate your time and effort, keep up the great work.
This game looks absolutely incredible. One of the best games visually that I've ever seen.
Amazing.

Is the track in the background from the Forza soundtrack? Amazing track!
Can't wait for the new Fable game that is being developed on this engine as far as I know. It's gonna look majestic and will probably run great too.
Its being developed on the next iteration of this engine so it will look even better.

Why does everyone forget about the Ray-Traced audio?
Yeah, on the series consoles and PC apparently the audio files are better and you can hear the sound of bouncing off of buildings and the environment
Because I doubt non car people care.
The only franchise we can all say Microsoft has consistently done right with some minor fiascos like the sound engine in horizon 4, but for me the introduction scene for horizon 4 is the best of them all, the music, the cinematics, the weather changing...
This one's better
For me the worst part of FH4 was the map. Boring and really annoying when the snow came. I hope they scrap that idea for the rest of the series.
@@Comuzzy i also hated winter lol, but it was a good oportunity to use trucks and do offroad races
For me forza horizon 4 was the worst FH game in the series, but looks like FH5 may be the best in the series. It's going back to FH1/2 which were my favourite ones so this could be the best in the series for me personally.
I respectfully disagree, minecraft would be one. take two makes forza series, microsoft is the publisher, 🤔🤭. Although it can be said, the forza series has been consistent at delivering true upgrades and technologies to their gameplay and engine with each iteration.
Even if you play on performance they should do the garage 30fps so we get all the extra details on cars there as well
Anyone who says this doesn’t look good is clearly just a fanboy
It looks good but barely any different than 3 and 4.
@@Manic_Panic No crap. Forza Horizon 5 is still a lastgen game, it's not nextgen. However to say it doesn't look any different is silly, they did update some of the maximum resolution stuff like textures, shadowmaps, LODs and such. It all adds up even if the underlying engine is built for lastgen.
@@TheDravic hard disagree with manic. Forza horizon 4 on Xbox one looks no where near as good as this on series x. The biggest improvement in visuals on this game come from the new hardware. Even if they used the same quality objects as on Forza horizon 4, it would still look better. It may appear to be very similar because Forza has always looked good

@@RedHaloManiac95 ,
I bought Forza Horizon 4 when it came out on Steam this Spring, and playing through the first mission I had already teared up. The intro of the game and atmosphere was just fantastic. It seemed like everything I've been looking for in a game. Pandemic hit all of us very hard and with the disappointment of Cyberpunk 2077 we've all expecting to be a savior of gaming, seems like FH4 warmed my heart instead. Been playing FH4 pretty much everyday since that and usually chill listening to music and driving around 1-2 hours. Game's just fantastic. Made me upgrade my GPU from 1080 to 2070 too just in time before FH5 gets released.
It looks phenomenal, wheel support is meant to be improved. We're looking at a potential GOTY contender.
Unfortunately racing games can't win game of the year I believe (could be wrong) but if so it will definitely be a contender for sure!
Absolutely any game can be goty. Only you decide what is goty. Everything else is some dumbasses opinion.
@@LinoOliveira92 GOTY will go to yet another 3rd person action/shooter game this year. I never gave much attention to that prize since last year, and since the moment Doom Eternal lost to best soundtrack to FFVII and best action game to Hades I know that shit is completely rigged lmao.
@@ImmAaronn I mean, in theory any game could win.
It's just that racing games are almost always focused on one specific thing (racing itself of course) and it makes them "not good enough overall" to be considered GOTY contenders.
Forza Horizon 5 actually brings so many different things to the table, not only technically but also talking about gameplay and content, that it could actually be considered a GOTY contender.
Not saying it'll win, but it's certainly a contender for sure.
One thing is for sure tho, the racing/sports category is an easy win for them this year.

Really wish we could get something closer to that quality mode running at 60FPS by rendering at a lower resolution.
I always found that anything 1440p and above looks way sharp enough to me.
Hell, even 1080p quality mode at 60FPS would have been a good balance IMHO.
I mean this looks absolutely gorgeous and can’t wait to play this! Just feel that overrated 4K price tag is hurting the performance mode a bit.
It’s a choice, and maybe they made the right call there after testing, but options would have been a great addition.
I think 1800p 60fps with max settings would be good. 1800p still looks amazing on 4k screens
@@gtavshortclips4740 it does indeed.
DRS down to 1080p with a high cap of 1800p coupled with their awesome dynamic settings technology might have had a fair shot at maintaining 60FPS using the Quality mode settings on Series X

@@whatarerice
Not only that but games "free" on GP doesn't earn the developer much money for a sequel (assuming you don't buy any add-ons).
GP is kind of a joke because there are still too few great *NEW* games available on the service especially great 1st party titles. That's mostly because MS is still not in the habit of releasing new titles consistently, but also because this is basically MS' only great 1st party franchise (No, I don't count Halo anymore though their latest could turn things around again).
Hell yea. Smash this game for 1$ on the PC and then back to my lovely PS5. Thank you xbox.
@@VariantAEC What do you mean, you need 1 AAA game to release every 6 months(7 months if its a $70 game) for it to be worth. You paying $10 per month so its 2 AAA games a year for it to be worth being signed up for an entire year. So value of NEW games is unbeatable. The next 2 months would have enough value for the entire of 2022 in terms of money spent.
The developer doesnt earn much money, that is complete and utter bullshit, developers put their games on Game Pass because they get money from it. Do you think MS is holding them hostage to put games on it? They are getting compensated, some indie developers are saying Xbox pays for the entire games development, gives it free marketing and then they still get to sell the game on steam, gog, xbox etc. While Sony charges them $20K to be advertised on the homepage, while Xbox advertise them on the homepage and gives them money.
Then others devs say, they have seen more sales since the game has been on gamepass and the franchise such as Yakuza is now a mainstream game? Do you think Sega isnt making money from the deal?
You really don't have to pay for Game Pass you can pay for it with Microsoft points just like you can pay for Xbox Live gold with Microsoft points you can buy games with Microsoft points
I thought the intro in FH4 wasn't very good. Couldn't wait for it to be over and actually be able to play my way.
